Damn. He didn’t even use her name. Sick.

“You… what? Ms. French?” she asked, sounding confused.

It was adorably cute.

I held out my hand as I said, “Ms. French? I’m Banger.”

Sareen’s eyes went hard as she stared first at my hand, then at me, before returning her gaze to Easton.

“Why do you have your hands on this woman?” she snapped, ignoring my hand.

I dropped it to my side as I heard someone say, “Oh, boy. Not this again.”

I would’ve turned to look, but I saw Sareen’s intentions before she even consciously realized what she was about to do.

I moved out of Easton’s hold, reached for the glass that’d just barely begun to tip forward, and said, “Careful. You wouldn’t want to spill this all over your pretty white dress.”

Sareen’s jaw locked as she all but jerked her hand out of mine, spilling the drink all over her white dress.

The red stained instantly, and I couldn’t stop myself from giggling.

“Oh, no,” I said. “Now look what you did.”

Sareen didn’t even look at the damage.

She looked at me like she wanted to murder me.

“I hear you were there when Easton was shot a few days ago,” I said. “Good thing you were there protecting his back. My little computer nerd never saw it coming.”

“Your little…” Sareen growled.

Easton’s hand came back to my belly as he pulled me backward into his embrace, my back to his front. He pressed his lips to my throat at the same time saying, “What did I tell you about calling me a nerd?”

I snickered. “That you’d spank my ass the next time I said it.”

There was an sharp inhale just as Easton nipped my throat.

Hard.

I felt my nipples tighten in response.

“Then I suggest you don’t call me that again.” He growled loud enough for everyone to hear it.

His finger, which just so happened to find its way into the little hole at the top of my hip, wiggled, causing me to tense even further.

The bare skin of that finger was only inches away from the part of my body that was throbbing for him the most.

All the way here, I’d ridden behind him, my dress flapping, and felt myself all pressed against him with a vibrating machine underneath me the entire time.

Needless to say, after having myself practically plastered against him for so long, I was more than a little excited.

What was even worse was that when I got there, my hair looked ‘just fucked’ and there wasn’t a single person that saw me that didn’t first think I was freshly tumbled.

I saw the knowledge in almost every single man’s eyes that we walked past or spoke with since we’d arrived.

Having people think that we’d been together before coming here, and pretending that we had, was playing its toll on my body.

And I was way past gone for the man.

I’d spent months talking to him at a bar. Getting to know him.

Which meant I was comfortable with him.

I could trust him.

And that was the biggest turn-on of them all. Knowing that no matter what happened, or how this ended tonight, he would still keep me safe.

Oh, and I’d be going home with him.

CHAPTER 12

All of this forehead, and I still can’t remember shit.

-Easton to Trouper

EASTON

Needless to say, the night went a bit as I’d expected it to.

I’d schmoozed my way through all the top brass of almost every county in East Texas. I’d met more people than names I could remember. Banger took it like a champ.

Oh, and Sareen fucking hated it.

“She’s looking at me like she’s going to break that champagne glass on the table and stab me with it,” Banger whispered, her mouth close to my ear, but not touching.

I curled my arm around the back of her chair and pulled her to me, turning my face into hers so that I could whisper in her ear as well.

“Just know that she fights dirty,” I said. “And make sure that if you do this with her, you understand that I can’t hit her for you. It’s going to have to all be you. I just started a business. I can’t have a domestic violence charge set against me when I am still trying to get my name out there.”

She scoffed. “I’m not going to fight her.”

I watched as she took a quick gulp of her beer, then set the bottle down loudly enough that all eyes turned to her.

I wondered whether I was going to find her next words amusing or not, but I shouldn’t have worried.

Banger was an endless fountain of entertainment, and every single thing that’d come out of her mouth that night had been amusing or entertaining. Or both.

Every man that I introduced her to as my girlfriend loved her.

“So, Chief Roberts,” Banger said as she took another swig of her beer. “How many kids do you have?”
