It wasn’t my fault my favorite parts of our dates were when we did something sexy or when Master was sweet…which was usually when he was doing something sexy.

What was I supposed to do, tell him about how Master went grocery shopping with me because I wanted to hang out and be able to eat dinner that week?

“That’s not the point.” Conner’s voice was just a bit too high making him sound like he was playing a girl for the neighbors too. “Alright. Next weekend you’re going to come to the club. I’m going to fix it with Jared.”

The confident, slightly aggressive tone had me starting to get hard, but I wasn’t sure if Conner was doing that to me deliberately or not, so I didn’t mention it.

“You’re very bossy today.” Shaking my head, I headed out of the bathroom. “I don’t know what we’re doing next weekend. We’ve both had crazy schedules lately.”

Sometimes DC was not worth the stress.

In the two weeks since we had the perfect weekend at the toy store, we’d spent more time together than I had with anyone else I’d ever dated, but it never felt like enough…especially when we hadn’t seen each other at all last weekend.

“I know where your sexy ass is going to be.” With that dramatic mic-drop moment, the brat hung up on me.

Again.

Doing my best to ignore his ridiculous behavior—and the accusation that Master and I didn’t do more than have sex—I headed out and drove over to the restaurant we were meeting at. Master had worked late every night this week and he said the only thing he wanted since it was finally Friday was to take me out and spend time with me.

A regular date without groping and an audience.

Conner was ridiculous.

I said it to myself so many times on the drive over, I almost believed it too, but by the time we sat down at the quiet Thai place we both loved, it somehow escaped. “Conner says all we do is have sex and we don’t talk enough.”

Thankfully I managed to wait until our shy waitress left us alone before I blurted out the word sex, but I wasn’t so good about holding the rest of my thoughts in. “He says we have to come to the club next weekend. I think he’s either going to try to fix us or punish me, and I don’t think I like either of those ideas.”

It sounded scary.

Master had just cocked his head and was studying me, so I kept going because I wasn’t sure he understood how stressful it was. “Do you think we’re broken? You don’t want to be punished, right?”

When I finally took a breath, he reached over the small table and rested his hand on mine. “Take a deep breath, pet. We’re not broken.”

Obeying that was easy, but it didn’t make me forget my thoughts.

Not worries.

Just thoughts.

“Good boy.” Ignoring the menu we hadn’t looked at yet, Master kept his gaze on mine. “We do a lot of talking that isn’t about scenes or sex. We had countless conversations last weekend when I had to fly down to my parents. We texted so much and you made me smile so often, I had to tell them who I was talking to.”

He had?

He’d told them about me?

I must’ve looked silly because he chuckled and shook his head. “Your expression, pet.”

Shrugging, I tried to close my mouth and stop blushing. “I didn’t expect that.”

They’d had some house stuff they’d wanted his help on, so Master had flown down for the weekend even though he’d called the excuse bullshit and said they’d just wanted to see him. He’d found it funny, though, and had just played along like that was what functional families did.

Scoffing and playing up his silliness, he rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair. “I didn’t tell them all the naughty things we’ve gotten up to, but I did tell them about the smart, fascinating man I was seeing. I might’ve mentioned how cute my boyfriend was and how we’d met through a mutual friend.”

I was Master’s boyfriend.

The blush was back in full force, but there was relief too. Telling them we’d met through friends was a much better way to explain it. He was so relaxed it’d probably sounded like the truth. I’d have probably gotten nervous and just blurted out too much of the truth.

“What did they say?” As the question came out, I could feel my heart beating faster. Master was happy but family was hard sometimes. “They don’t mind you’re gay?”

I really should’ve asked that question first.

Oh, what if they didn’t like my job?

What if they’d asked about my hobbies and Master couldn’t remember any?

Oh, I needed more hobbies that he could tell boring people about.

What if they weren’t okay with any of it and he just didn’t want to tell me because he knew it would be stressful?
