Her dress was next. She softly stepped out of it, facing me in nothing but a lacy bra and a pair of matching underwear, they were tan but matched her skin in a way that made her look naked. A knife was strapped to her thigh… why was I so consumed with the view of a knife being there more than her lingerie, and yet I was still holding the damn purse?

I fixated on the way it pressed against her thigh; my fingers trembled to reach it, jerk it free, and slide the strap down just to see the marks against her leg that her protection left her.

Brave girl.

My girl.

I rubbed my chin with my free hand while she crooked her fingers, took the purse, tossed it to the floor, and reached for my black trousers. I didn’t move an inch. I let her tease me, torment me with those soft fingertips as she dropped my pants.

Her head tilted, her pretty white blond hair falling across the straps of her bra. “Commando at a funeral?”

“I highly doubt anything’s going to turn me on over death—”

“—And mine? When you’re inside me?” She raked her hands across my ass then pressed her thumbs against my hips. “Hmm?”

“I don’t think anyone…” I grunted. “…should be naked at a funeral, After? Yes.”

She spun me around, gripping the edges of my shirt, tugging them back, and ripping them open.

I slipped out of it, kicked it with my trousers, and then pressed her against the bed. My body was first, my mouth was second, and my tongue third seeking her mouth, parting her lips.

I’d just tasted a piece of her when she scrambled away from me and gave me an insane view of her ass as she reached into the side table and pulled out a rope.

I laughed. “Been planning this?”

“Been hoping for it.” It dangled out of her hands.

“You think that can hold me?”

She crawled toward me on the bed and started wrapping it around my wrists. “I think you want it to, so yes.”

I kissed her nose. “Good answer, wasn’t expecting this.”

“Well.” She tugged the rope tight on my right hand, then my left, making me wince. “Someone once told me to set the pain free. It was a painful day, and there can be beauty in pain, so why not tie you hard, watch your beauty, add in a dose of pain, and feel it between us?”

“Shared.” I swallowed and looked down at my shaking hands. How had she squeezed into my soul so easily? A question maybe I would never have the answer to, but I had her now, I wanted her forever, and I couldn’t help but feel like my dick was going to die a slow death already.

She leaned down as if she was teasing like she was going to taste me; her hair grazed my tip before she sat up and smiled, then started to tie.

Who the hell taught her to tie knots like this?

Sure as hell wasn’t me.

Instant jealousy washed over me.

“I know that face.” She grinned as my right wrist went tight. “And I asked Bee. Apparently, being married to Phoenix has a lot of… surprises. Not to mention a lot of the other girls, Mo included, that pulled me aside to chat all things fighting, love, sex… Tex was very descriptive, mainly about the knives—”

“Let’s not talk about other men while you’re tying me up, especially them; they used to be my enemies, you know.”

I winced again when my left hand was tied to the headboard. “Kinda tight.”

“So you fight to break free for what you want.” She shrugged.

“Say what?” I moved forward, but the knots wouldn’t budge. “Warriors stick together, fight together, love together—”

“—but.”

She freed her breasts, tossed her bra, and then very painfully slowly took off her thong and tossed it to the floor. What happened next would probably be imprinted into my mind forever.

She reached between her legs, then went to the left, slid her pretty fingers down her thigh, freed her knife, and brought it to my neck. “You begged for me with painful words.”

“I did,” I admitted. “I used pain to save you, and I will always use pain to save you, whether it’s telling you a lie that stabs me in the heart—or whether I tell you a truth to set you free.”

“And when I choose to save myself?” She countered, raising the knife just beneath my chin.

I cracked a smile, careful not to catch myself on the sharp blade. “I’ll stand by your side, cheer you on, love you, support you, and still want to save you because that’s what stupid guys do when they think they’re the only ones with blades, but at the end of the day you have everything you need to be your own warrior, your own hero, what a damn privilege to watch.”
