“What is it, baby?” I asked, grasping her face in my hands.

She drew in a deep breath. “I’m pregnant. Took a test this morning,” she croaked. “And I feel really, really fucking sick.”

My eyes widened. Despite how dangerous her being pregnant right now was, I was fucking ecstatic. We were going to have a baby together. I was going to experience Cannon’s body changing and adjusting to nurture our little angel. This was a first I got to share with her, and I couldn’t wait.

“Fuck, baby girl. You should have called me instead of driving all the way here,” I rasped. I pressed my lips to hers in a soft kiss. “Come on. Let’s get you to our old apartment, yeah? You can lay back down, and I’ll hunt you down some ginger tea. Elaina swore by it when she was pregnant.”

Cannon gagged and then covered her mouth and closed her eyes, drawing in a deep breath. I swept her up into my arms and made for the stairs. She twisted open the apartment door for me, and I walked inside, gently laying her on the mattress. She curled up on her side with a low groan, her eyes shutting.

“Why didn’t you just call me, baby?” I asked, sitting on the edge of the bed to run my hand over her red hair.

“Wanted you now,” she mumbled.

Oh, my sweet woman.

“Let me get you some tea and a vomit bucket—just in case you get sick—” I tacked on when she grimaced, “and then I’ll come cuddle you, and we can finish watching Temptation Island. Sound good?” Our thing was watching trashy television shows. It was relaxing and gave us an extra reason to be up each other’s asses.

I loved it, even if some of the people on these trashy shows drove me fucking nuts with their dumb decisions.

“Okay,” she mumbled.

I pressed my lips to her forehead before quickly getting off the bed and jogging down the stairs. Jessie was in the kitchen, and she arched a brow at me when I began rummaging through the pantry. “You know I don’t like people in the kitchen when I’m trying to cook, Whiler.”

“Need ginger tea,” I said, my back turned to her. “Do you know where in the hell it’s kept at?”

“Ginger tea? Why—oh, fuck,” she whispered. “Is Cannon pregnant?”

I sighed and turned to face her, nodding my head. “Yeah, she is, and she’s feeling nauseous as fuck.”

Jessie quickly reached into the cabinet in front of her and began making ginger tea. “I suggest having some preggie pops delivered, too,” she suggested as I watched her make the tea so I knew how to make it for Cannon next time. “It’ll help her. Maybe some broth and saltine crackers, too. To give her some nutrients if she can’t keep anything solid down.”

I pressed a kiss to her temple when she handed me the tea. “You’re the fucking best, Jessie.”

She laughed quietly. “Congratulations, by the way. You’re going to be an amazing father, Whiler.”

My chest tightened as I remembered Helena. Her face flitted through my mind, her smile wide, her eyes bright as she beamed at me. I had to blink moisture back from my eyes.

“Yeah,” I rasped. A small smile tilted my lips. “I think I will be, too.”
