After having her in my bed every night that I was there, I’m having trouble sleeping. It’s insane. I’m fucking sprung and ninety-nine percent in love with her. I thought being with her was the beginning of my everything, but she hasn’t spoken to me since Nick and Cheryl’s wedding. She avoided me like the plague and then when I cornered her, she told me we didn’t have a future. Fuck that. I’ve had enough of this. I saw my whole future the second I saw her, but when I slide my cock into her, I finally felt like I was home.

She gave herself to me, and I’ll be damned if I let her take it back.

Like I said, I’m so fucked.

CHAPTER 1

PRESENT DAY

“So tell me how the project is coming along?” My boss, the head of the entire department, called me into his office a few minutes ago and I really wish he hadn’t. I was in the middle of trying to meditate to calm the morning sickness and he interrupted it. I managed to drink some ginger tea on my walk to his office, hoping and praying it worked, but right now, smelling his obscenely strong cologne, I know my wish wasn’t granted. “Miss Gillium, I am waiting.” Damn it. I thought I could nod my head and get out of this, but he wants actual words? I hope he likes the word vomit, literally because I can’t stop it now.

Leaning over, I grab his garbage can right before the tea and plain toast comes back up. If this entire situation is not enough, I swear I just peed in my panties, while this violent sea of nothingness comes out of me. “I’m… Sorry.” I try to get out before more is expelled from me. If I wasn’t a scientist, I would be shocked by how much is even in there considering this baby hasn’t let me eat for three weeks.

“Are you ill?” he asks, handing me a napkin once I have finished. I am taking my time, catching my breath, trying to think of an answer because no one, not even my parents know I am pregnant. Hell Nick doesn’t even know, and he is the last person I intend to tell. “If you are contagious, you should go home,” he says standing further on the other side of the room. I could totally take this as an easy out and go home, but it will keep happening.

“No,” I say shaking my head, wiping my mouth again. “I am not sick. I am pregnant,” I say the last part slower and a bit quieter, hoping he didn’t hear me, but when his chubby bald head turns the same color as my grandma’s beet soup, I know I have no such luck.

“PREGNANT!” he scoffs, pulling his hands out of his pocket. “Well, what an inconvenient time for that.” I feel a bit offended like my life situation is somehow an affront to him, but I also get it. We are at a pivotal time in our project, and I am needed here.

“I know it is not ideal, but I am only eight weeks along and will be here until the very last second. With that said, I know Finn can handle my leave.” He is my assistant and very competent. Hell, I don’t know what I would do without him.

“This is certainly not what I expected from you,” he says, sounding more like my father than my boss. I am about to tell him as much when a knock at the door saves me from saying something that could potentially lose me my job. “Come in,” he barks, taking his anger out on whoever is at the door.

“Sorry, sir. I was told Rose was in here,” Carmine, from genetics says, peeking around the corner.

“She is.”

“Great.” He opened the door and in walks a man holding a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

“For you, miss.” I look at him, stunned and confused, but then I remember I am in my boss's office and this situation is bad enough. So, I take them from him and smile. When he doesn’t leave, I feel my face turning red, knowing all eyes are on me.

“Is there something else?” I ask him, not willing to look up at anyone else. He shakes his head no and walks out the door. Shoot. Should I have tipped him?

“Well, are you going to open it?” My boss asks, moving closer due to his curiosity.

“No. I know who they are from.” I tell him dismissing the flowers but secretly gushing over the daisies. Asshole. He knows they are my favorite. Slick.

“Probably the one who did that,” he says pointing I presume at my stomach. Feeling a bit upset at how everything has played out in the last few minutes, I get up and walk to the door.
