His hard length hit a different spot on his next stroke, making me gasp, “Oh, Deacon, yes! You feel so good.”

He nipped at my throat. “That’s right, baby. Tell me how much your pussy loves to be wrapped around my cock.”

His words sent me flying over the edge, stars bursting deep in my core. He sped up his pace as I cried out his name. After a few more thrusts, he anchored himself deep, and I felt the hot streams of his come spurt inside me as he groaned, “Fucking A, you make me lose my mind.”

Deacon was careful not to put all of his weight on me, but I enjoyed how solid he felt as he cradled me against his chest. I was still trying to catch my breath when he brushed a kiss against the top of my forehead and slid off the mattress. Propping myself up on an elbow, I murmured, “Where’re you going?”

He yanked on a pair of athletic shorts before turning toward me, his blue eyes burning into mine. “I needed that to tide me over for a little bit, so I’m going to figure out who’s been messing with you. I need to know you’re safe before I can dedicate the time it’ll take to give you the soft and slow loving you deserve.”

“Mmm,” I hummed, a shiver racing up my spine at the sensual promise in his tone. Even though he’d just given me a couple of mind-blowing orgasms—and I wanted the whole stalker situation to be wrapped up as soon as possible—I was ready for another round now. I’d become addicted to his body during our week together. “Are you sure that can’t wait?”

“Sorry, baby.” He padded over and gave me a quick kiss, his fingers drifting over the top of my breasts. “You’re tempting as fuck, but Merrick told me that he was going to send over reports on a few people of interest. They raised a red flag when he went over the video feed from the hospital because they were paying too much attention to you.”

My brow wrinkled in confusion over how casually he mentioned that his friend had access to the hospital’s cameras. Between patient privacy concerns and employee safety, I assumed that it took a lot of effort to get that kind of access. “It’s barely been a day and a half since I called Merrick. The security guard I talked to about what’s been happening barely took notes during our meeting, but Merrick was able to talk them into letting him see video that fast?”

“He didn’t ask for permission.” He scrubbed his palms down his face before admitting softly, “Just like I’m not going to go through official channels while hunting for this asshole.”

Dragging the sheet with me and pressing the material to my chest as I got to my knees, I hissed, “Hold up. If you get caught doing something illegal, what will that do to your career? We can just call the cops or something. I’m going to move down here anyway, so this doesn’t need to be a big thing. It’s not as though this guy is going to follow me all the way to San Diego.”

“You’re worrying for nothing, baby. I’m too damn good at what I do to get caught, especially with Merrick and the rest of the team at my six. But even if I did, it’d be worth it. Being a SEAL is everything I dreamed about until I met you. It pales in comparison to keeping you safe. I love you too damn much to let anything happen to you.” He padded over to the desk and powered up his computer, all three monitors firing up in unison while my brain screeched to a halt at hearing that four-letter word come out of his mouth. “And as thrilled as I am to hear that you’re still on board with moving in with me, we can’t let this shit slide. There’s no telling what this guy will do now that you’ve dropped off his radar. He hasn’t tripped the alarm at your old place yet, but he could have it staked out waiting for you to return.”

“Deacon”—he glanced at me over his shoulder at my urgent whisper—“did you just tell me you love me in the middle of a rant about my stalker?”

“Fuck...I did.” He flashed me a sexy grin, his eyes filled with humor as he muttered, “I guess I might as well do this part now, too.”

I didn’t understand what he meant until he grabbed a small jewelry box off the top of his dresser and crossed the room again to drop down on one knee in front of me. “Oh, holy heck.”

“Marry me, Piper,” he rasped as he pulled a gorgeous ring from the box and slid it onto my finger.
