“I’m good, Daddy. Are they all finished?”

“Yes. That was the last box. What do you think? Do we put something together or snuggle on the couch and watch a movie?”

“Umm,” Sue hesitated to choose. “You’ve had a crappy afternoon.”

“I had a distasteful ten minutes,” he reassured her. “Let’s choose this way. Have you ever played rock, paper, scissors?”

“Yeah, when I was a kid.” She looked at him and wrinkled her nose. “But there are three possibilities…” Sue looked up to meet his gaze and slowly Davis winked at her. Suddenly, she knew what the third option would be.

“Rock is like a couch potato, so we’ll use that for watch TV. Scissors is opening packages, so, furniture. And paper, for…” Davis waggled his eyebrows suggestively at her. “For taking a nap.”

“A nap, Daddy?” Sue said with a laugh. Suddenly, life looked a lot happier and she knew what she was going to choose.

“Make your decision. Ready?”

“On three, Daddy?”

“On three.” Davis held one fist over his open palm. Sue quickly mirrored his action. “One, two, three!”

Giggles poured from Sue’s mouth at the sight of both her Daddy’s hands flattened out to be paper in front of her one hand in the same position. “Paper wins!”

With a growl, Davis scooped Sue up in his arms and whirled her around in a circle before carrying her to the bedroom as she giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck. Paper was the absolute best choice.

Chapter Seventeen

Sue loved waking up in Davis’s arms. No matter how they went to sleep, she always blinked her eyes open to find him wrapped around her as if he couldn’t stand for her to be far from him.

Today was Saturday. She was supposed to go to Blaze with all her friends from Little Cakes—only she hadn’t talked to her Daddy about it for several days. The dungeon sounded naughty. Would he still want her to go there?

“You’re thinking awfully hard this early in the morning,” Davis muttered against her shoulder.

“How did you know?” she whispered.

“Daddies know everything,” he reminded her before continuing, “Besides, I can feel you almost vibrating with worry. What’s going on in your mind?”

“I’m supposed to go to Blaze with Ellie and all my friends I’ve met at Little Cakes,” she confessed.

“Right. That’s tonight, isn’t it?” he asked, shifting so he could see her face.

“Yes.”

“Do you want to go?”

“Yes,” she admitted.

“Then we go.”

“You’ll go with me?” Sue asked, searching his face for any sign that he was upset with her.

“Of course. Blaze is a fun place to go. You’ll like it. I’d prefer you don’t go without me and I will require that you don’t play with anyone else while you’re there,” Davis stated firmly.

Sue understood that this wouldn’t be negotiable. She rushed to assure him, “I’d really like you to go with me. And I’d never consider doing anything with other men at the club. They’re not going to be all over me when I walk in, are they?” Sue asked, picturing a group of sex-crazed guys waiting for fresh meat. Maybe she didn’t want to go.

“No one is going to mob you. There are rules for conduct and interacting. If you were free and looking to experiment with others, those seeking partners would approach you to see if you’d be a good match. You could always say no,” he assured her.

“Oh! That sounds much better.”

She settled against him and relaxed. That conversation hadn’t been difficult at all. Davis always made things okay. Sue stopped herself from comparing him to her ex-husband. That part of her life was finished now. She was going to focus on the future.

“The Littles usually hang out together in the daycare. There are coloring books and games to play in that area. Riley works in the bar. She might be on duty tonight,” Davis commented.

“No, we chose a night when she’s off so she could join us.”

“Perfect. Would you like me to give you a tour of the club before taking you to the daycare to meet your friends?” he suggested.

“Could you? I’ve never been in a club like Blaze. I’d like to see everything,” she confessed.

“I would love to show you around. Perhaps you’d like to explore some of the activities personally.” He laughed at the panic Sue knew she didn’t keep from showing in her gaze. “I have a feeling some might appeal to you. Others definitely won’t and that’s okay. Blaze is a no-judgment zone. If you have any questions, I’ll be glad to try to answer them.”

“I’ll probably have a million questions.”

“You can ask me anything. And we can try anything you’re curious about. There or here at home,” he assured her.

“You mean like experiment?” she asked, trying to keep the excitement out of her voice.

“Yes, Cherry. I have a few things I don’t find arousing, mainly edge play with needles and knives.”
