“We’re in here,” Fiero responds. He seems at ease, and my tension fades a bit. If Fiero wanted us to have privacy, he could have taken me to a restaurant or asked to go to my place.

I remind myself that these are men – not boys – so despite the scene yesterday, I should assume they’ll be mature and well-behaved. But they’re also brothers, and I don’t want to be the cause of any strife between them.

“Hello, buonasera,” Matteo says as he enters the kitchen, greeting both of us. Then he comes to my side. “I was hoping you’d be here.”

I turn to smile at him and he surprises me with a kiss on my lips. It’s quick, nothing heavy, but it’s also not a greeting you’d give an acquaintance. “Hi,” I say, feeling my blush return.

Memories of our kiss in his office come rushing back, mingling with more recent images of Fiero lying on top of me. My cheeks burn and my body hums with desire as the two brothers go about preparing for dinner.

As Fiero sears salmon on the stove, Matteo gathers plates and silverware and sets the table in the small dining room adjacent to the kitchen.

“Did you two have a nice afternoon?” Matteo asks as he brings cloth napkins out from a drawer.

“Certo. Of course.” Fiero turns to smile at me with a knowing wink that’s thankfully out of his brother’s view.

“We did,” I agree, grateful when Matteo changes the subject to comment on the warm weather.

I needn’t have worried about how Matteo and Fiero would behave around each other, because it turns out they have an easy camaraderie I wouldn’t have imagined. I get along well with my sister, but I don’t think we’ve ever been as in sync as these two men are, with their special twin bond.

They joke and playfully argue, but also occasionally finish each other’s sentences, displaying an ease that can probably only come from having shared a womb. They never make me feel left out, though. In fact, I spend the meal with them feeling warm, welcome, and happier than I’ve been in a long time.

In addition to their wonderful company, the food is delicious. “Is this rosemary on the potatoes, Fiero? The flavor is amazing.”

“Sì, yes, rosemarino.”

“You are such a good cook. This is the best salmon I’ve ever tasted.”

“Ah, thank you, but I am only okay. Our brother Giovanni is a much better cook.”

All at once, the campus rumors I’d nearly forgotten come rushing back. Stories about two brothers identical to Professor Bestia, and the three of them hosting wild sex parties. I could never quite believe it about Matteo, but now I’m not sure.

“Giovanni? Is he your older brother, or younger?”

“Neither,” Matteo says. “We’re triplets.”

Very, Very Satisfying

My chest feels tight and my skin burns, a wave of some emotion I can’t identify running through me. It’s really true: there are three of them, identical, just as the rumors said.

“Is Giovanni here in the US?” With some effort, I keep my voice even.

I don’t know if it’s excitement or dread that I’m feeling about this revelation. Sure, sex with three men who look like they do sounds amazing; but parties, with other people having sex with these men? Not so good.

“No, he’s home in Italy. He visited us last summer, though.”

“Oh, that’s nice.”

My heart sinks. Their brother was here, making the rumors very likely to be true.

It’s just my luck. I don’t know why I expected things to go differently – men I’m attracted to always turn out to be bad news. Matteo and Fiero aren’t assholes or jerks like other guys I’ve dated, of course, and orgies are fine for anyone who’s into them, but I’m not. I’m looking for a serious, monogamous relationship with a man, and I don’t want to share my partner’s body with whoever comes around.

About to take a drink, Fiero gestures at Matteo with his wine glass. “Remember that party?”

Matteo drops his head into his hands and groans, indicating that this is not a pleasant memory.

“Pazzi! Those people were pazzi! Crazy.” Fiero adds the last word in English for my benefit, though his gesticulations already gave me a good idea of what he meant.

“What happened?” I’m afraid to ask, but I have to know.

Matteo is still shaking his head with regret as he answers. “When Giovanni visited, we had a big party. I invited some people from the university, and things got … out of hand.”

“Out of hand!” Fiero barks out a laugh. “Three of them took off their clothes!”

Matteo gives his brother a warning look. “It was no one from the school.” He clears his throat before continuing. “And, well, if it was, I wouldn’t be naming any names. Some people just had too much to drink that night.”

Fiero is full out shaking with laughter now.
