We swallowed him together in between messy kisses, and I could only hope I was next.

I could count on Reese.

“Shay, offer up your ass for Macklin,” he told the boy. “He’s earned it.”

Sex, barbecue lunch, and a nap.

This was heaven.

I planted a sleepy kiss to Master’s shoulder before I rolled onto my back and shifted my face slightly to avoid one of those little sunbeams.

“Macklin?”

I hummed at the sound of Lane’s sweet voice.

“Wake up, honey,” he murmured.

“Not yet,” I whispered. “Come cuddle with us instead.”

“Where would I even fit?” he chuckled.

Oh, I’d make him fit…

I scrubbed my hands over my face and yawned, and then I cracked my eyes open and— “Oh my fucking—you goddamn, motherfucking asshole!” I yelled. Shock and terror tore through me as I was suddenly staring right into the face of a massive bright-green iguana. Lane held it maybe four or five inches from my damn face, and now I was gonna kill him!

My pulse shot through the roof, my heart tried to pound its way through my ribcage, and everyone hated me. Because they were laughing! All of them!

Lane backed away, guffawing to the point of tears, and I jumped to my feet and saw red.

How could he do that?! I shuddered violently at the memory of its long, sharp claws and the dragon-like face and body.

“Your face, baby!” he howled.

“I’m posting this shit to Insta,” Shay laughed.

“Oh, do send it to me first,” Walker chuckled. “That’ll be our next Christmas card.”

“Fuck you all!” I shouted. Not even Master’s long-term talk of next Christmas could make this all right.

Angry, fucking livid, I exploded and charged at Lane. The moment he tossed the three-foot dead monster onto a pile of others, I went to grab at him, but he was quick, the little shit. He let out a shouty laugh and evaded my grip—and for once, I didn’t stop. I couldn’t. He’d damn near given me a heart attack! So I chased after him, and of course he had to run straight out into the water.

So be it.

I jumped in right after, which he hadn’t seen coming. He widened his eyes and hopefully realized the water hadn’t been his safest strategy. I was a faster swimmer; I just didn’t normally bother with the chase.

“Get him, Macklin!” Reese hollered. “I got ten on Mack.”

“Ten on Lane here,” Ty said.

“I’m with Ty,” River said. “Reese, for knowing people so well, you’re horrible at these things. Always bet against Reese.”

“Fuck you,” Reese bitched.

I ignored them and ran until I could dive under the surface and start swimming.

“You’re not supposed to chase after me, goddammit!” Lane called.

Yeah, but apparently we were all about breaking our rules and patterns for this trip.

I kicked off from the bottom and dove under, and then I sliced through the water in a quick crawl. Unfortunately, the speed-workout drained me of anger. The shock and the fear faded.

It took me about ten seconds to catch up before I was right there to wrap my arms around Lane’s midsection.

“Oh no, I can’t swim—you gotta save me,” I panted.

He coughed through his breathless laughter and struggled to stay above the surface as I clung to him. “You shit!”

“No, you’re the shit,” I growled playfully. “Fucking hell, you know I don’t like those dragon lizards!”

“I know,” he wheezed with giggles.

I huffed and began dragging him back to shore. It was too deep out here, and we were in crocodile territory. We’d spotted a couple on the way earlier this morning.

“Damn…” Lane blew out a heavy breath. “I didn’t know you’d be so fast.”

Yeah, well. Looked like Reese was gonna be smug as hell with his brother soon.

I wasn’t ready for our vacation to be over.

We had a couple days to go, but getting ready for our New Year’s celebration that evening still had a sense of finality to it.

Walker had moved our stuff up to the bedroom Colt’s triad had vacated, and we didn’t talk much after we’d shared a shower. We stopped each other in passing and kissed in between getting dressed, but I had a feeling we both had a lot on our minds.

Facing reality had never been our strongest suit.

“What exactly did River tell you to bring when he asked you to come down here?” I asked. Because from the kinky gear to a very sexy suit, he had to have been well-informed.

Walker glanced at me in the mirror that was attached to the closet door. I’d always enjoyed watching him get ready for work. A man putting on a tie was hot. Don’t get me started on adjusting the cuff links…

Rather than responding verbally, he walked over to me by the bed and pulled out his phone.

He smirked faintly. “River doesn’t mince words.”

I eyed the screen and felt my eyebrows rise.

We’re done. Come get your boy. He’s reached his breaking point. Bring your toy bag, clothes for semi-formal dinner, and beachwear. Attaching address below. Reese or Colt will call you in the morning with details because we’re heading out somewhere.
