“That wasn’t your scepter though,” I interject. “It was a dupe I bought off Amazon.”

Rocky rolls her eyes.

“Yeah, but she’ll never believe it. Plus, she didn’t see you, Logan. I guess your face must have been in shadow or something, or maybe you were turned away. Anyways, the long and the short of it is that she’s going to tell the pageant that I was getting fucked up the behind with that scepter, and that I need to lose my title as a result.”

I think for a moment and then shrug.

“Let her do what she wants.”

“What?” screeches Rocky. “You aren’t going to defend me on this?”

I grin then.

“I didn’t say that. It’s just that I don’t care if I’m exposed as a Circle member. Hell, if I want to bang hot girls right and left, it only adds to the legend.”

The beautiful woman flies into a rage then.

“You know what? You’re an asshole! This isn’t about you, Logan, because Ursula couldn’t see your face! This is about me! Goddamnit. I thought you were honorable, but all you care about is your reputation.”

I grin before making amends.

“I was just kidding, Rocks. Calm down, don’t worry. I’m not going to let that Ursula woman execute her threats. No fucking way. I’m just saying that she’s so pathetic that there’s no reason to get all worked up. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of her.”

“But how?” Rocky implores. “For all we know, Ursula’s talking to the pageant coordinators now!”

I shrug and grin.

“Trust me, I have a couple tricks up my sleeve. Besides, as a long-time sponsor, I assure you that my word carries more weight than that cow’s.” Then I lean forward to press a kiss to Rocky’s brow. “Relax honey. You don’t have anything to worry about. I’ll fix this shitshow.”

The beautiful woman stares at me, her lower lip trembling, and suddenly, I realize how important this is to her. A wave of guilt washes over my form because clearly, I’ve been treating this issue like a joke whereas this is life and death to Rocky.

“I’ll take care of everything,” I growl once more. “Let it go, honey. I have it under control.”

With that, Rocky collapses into my arms, trembling a bit as I hold her tight. I breathe in the floral fragrance of my sweet girl, my heart calming now that her curvy form is once more in my arms. After all, Rocky belongs to me and no one threatens my woman and gets away with it. Ursula’s going to pay, and not only that, but I’ll have fun raising hell on that witch.

CHAPTER 9

Rocky

My phone rings and I jump, startled. I stare fearfully at the cell, a bunch of what ifs running through my mind. Is this it? Is it someone from the Miss Millbrook team calling to tell me that I’ve lost my crown? I can see the headlines already: Miss Millbrook Dethroned Because Of Sex Addiction!

Miss Millbrook Engaged In A Raunchy Caribbean Orgy!

Miss Millbrook Brings New Level of Filth To Her Crown!

Oh god, this is terrible. I know I’m overthinking things because I’m just a small-town pageant winner, so I doubt the scandal would even get past our county. Still though! Everything on-line lasts forever, and my reputation will be ruined for the rest of my life. My shoulders slump, even as tears spring to my eyes.

But then my eyes alight on the screen and I see that it’s Logan. Oh god, maybe the billionaire’s got some news and my hands scrabble as I pick up the device.

“You scared me,” I answer, my heart still pounding. “I thought I was finally getting the call from the pageant board.”

He merely growls.

“I told you that I’m going to take care of it, sweetheart. Don’t worry your sweet little head about it.”

I bite my lip. “But how? What are you going to do?”

I can hear the smile in his voice when he says, “You’ll find out tonight. Can you meet me at Ursula’s place in ten?”

I pause.

“Really? You know where she lives?”

He chuckles again.

“Of course I do. It’s an apartment on the edge of Millbrook where a lot of divorcees have taken residence.”

I pause again.

“Is Ursula divorced?”

Logan chuckles.

“I have no fucking idea, but just meet me there. I’ll text you the address.”

“Okay,” I say in a faint voice before hanging up. Of course, warning bells are clanging in my head because why are we about to confront Ursula in the middle of the night? Should I bring my pepper spray? But within twenty minutes, I pull up to the curb of an apartment complex. It doesn’t look like anything special with its boxy gray shape and mid-size lawn, but Logan’s already beckoning from in front of a door on the first floor. Immediately, I join him.

“Thanks for coming, sweetheart,” he says, not even bothering to be quiet. “This woman’s about to meet her maker.”
