Before he could go on, the front door opened, and I heard Kristin’s cheerful, and slightly annoying, morning greeting.

“Good morning! Good morning! Good morrrrrning!”

She came to an abrupt halt when she saw us all in the kitchen.

Shawn jumped up, a wide grin on his face. “Kristin!”

At the same time, Kristin curled her lip up at Shawn and drawled out, “Shawn.”

When she saw his reaction to her, she looked confused.

Shawn made his way over to her. He took the box of donuts and coffee out of her hands, then took her hands in his. “I tried calling you.”

Kristin’s mouth dropped, and she looked at her hands clasped in Shawn’s, then back up at him.

“I, um, I haven’t checked my voicemail.”

“It’s okay. I was wondering what you were doing today. I thought maybe we could spend the day together.”

Kristin opened her mouth, closed it, then opened it again before asking, “You want to spend the day with me?”

The next thing I knew, Shawn pulled her to him, cupped her face, and kissed her. Not a sweet, peck-on-the-lips kind of kiss. Oh, no, it was a passionate kiss. A heated kiss.

“Oh. My. God.” I whispered.

Lucas leaned in to softly say against my ear, “You don’t know the strength of your own powers, Hollie.”

Smiling, I watched as Kristin melted into Shawn’s embrace. “Apparently not, but look at that kiss!”

Shawn drew back and Kristin seemed to sway for a moment before her eyes snapped open.

“I’ve been thinking about kissing you all night and all morning,” Shawn confessed.

“You…you have?” Kristin stammered as her eyes shot over to me, then back to Shawn.

“Tell me you’ll spend the day with me. I need to be near you. Then maybe you could stay the night with me.”

“Wh-what? Stay the night as in at your house?”

Shawn nodded and took a step closer to Kristin. “I can’t deny my feelings anymore. I need you, Kristin. I need to feel your bare skin against mine again.”

“And he just lost his man card,” Lucas whispered.

Elbowing him in the ribs, I gave him a stern look. “It’s the spell talking.”

“The spell that went wrong!” he whisper-shouted back.

“Wait, what?” Kristin asked as her head snapped back over to look at me. She narrowed one eye and then slowly shook her head.

I instinctively took a step back but bumped into Lucas who gave me a little push forward. Sold out by the love of my life. I was going to remember that.

Kristin looked at Shawn, smiled, then turned to glare at me as she said, “Hollie, we need to talk. In private.”

Pointing to the box from the bakery, I quickly said, “But the coffee is ready, and look, you brought goodies. We should all eat!”

Kristin walked up and grabbed my arm. “Now!”

“I’ll come with you,” Shawn said as he rushed to stand next to Kristin.

She seemed so discombobulated, I couldn’t help but giggle, which earned me a pinch on the back of my arm.

“Ouch!”

“It’s girl stuff. Private girl stuff.”

Shawn nodded. “But you’re not leaving, right?”

Kristin stared at him for a moment, then forced a smile. “Nope. I’ll be right back.”

She nearly pulled my arm out of the socket as she dragged me through the house and to the guest bedroom. Once the door shut, she leaned against it, her hand on her chest as she drew in a few deep breaths.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“He kissed me.”

“I saw,” I said with a giggle. “Looked like a pretty intense kiss.”

She lifted her head and gave me a blank expression before her face turned red. “What did you do!?”

“Excuse me, but you did it. You did the spell.”

“After you got me tipsy! And you said it was just a notice me spell.”

I scrunched up my face and gave a light-hearted laugh. “Well, considering how the last one went…”

“Hollie!” Kristin said as she pushed away from the door and started to pace.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I think it was a few things that messed it up,” I said as I turned and watched her as she walked and worried her hands.

“Like doing the spell when I told you not to.”

Kristin and I both spun around to find my sister, Sarah, standing in the doorway. She shut the door and gave me that look only an older sister who was disappointed in you could give.

“Okay, now you show up. I knew you were coming.”

Sarah smirked. “I’m sure you did.”

“You knew about this?” Kristin asked.

Sarah looked at her and nodded. “She told me she was going to ask you if you wanted to do the spell.”

“I did!” I stated.

Sarah looked confused for a moment. Then she walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. “Tell me everything you did.”

Kristin rushed over and dropped to the floor in front of Sarah. “You have to fix this, Sarah! Your sister did something that made Shawn do more than notice me! He said he wanted to feel my bare skin against his! He kissed me!”
