“Oh god,” I groaned, unable to hold back as the thought of him putting me over this exact sink and sliding his cock inside me flashed clear and lurid in my mind. I imagined him holding me down with a strong grip to the back of my neck, murmuring reassurances like what a good boy I was to let him fuck me like this, how tight and hot I felt around his cock.

“Fuck,” I whimpered as my release shot through me like a freight train, smashing through any remaining barricade my rational brain tried to put up. Of course it was wrong for me to masturbate in his bathroom. Of course it was idiotic to do it while he was right outside the door in his bedroom. But it was like I wasn’t in control of myself enough to stop.

And I was low-key hoping that maybe hearing me masturbate would remind him I was a grown man.

As soon as the aftershocks ended and I bent over the vanity with a cum-covered hand clearly trembling over the edge of the sink, reality came rushing in.

Oh fuck.

Fucking fuck.

How the hell was I supposed to face him now?

Like a man.

I gritted my teeth and began to wash my hands again. I was a man, not a child. And if Kit couldn’t see that, it was his problem.

After splashing cold water on my face and drying my hands, I pulled the pajama pants back on, sucked in a deep breath, and straightened my shoulders, but when I returned to the bedroom, he wasn’t there.

I quickly searched the whole place, but the only sign I hadn’t dreamed the whole encounter was a half-drunk bottle of seltzer on the counter.

Kit had left. Again.

I almost skipped the charity dinner. The idea of watching Robert trying to use Robbie to settle down errant puppy actors was untenable. But Mandi had been looking forward to this event since the arrival of the invitation several weeks ago, and I needed to put in a little face time with some of the people who were attending, especially the ornery but talented CFO of one of the companies I was in the process of acquiring. If I could win him over, I stood a chance at retaining him after the merger.

“Bill Hilliard needs a chin implant, but no one will dare tell him,” Mandi said, swiping on a fresh coat of lipstick as my driver finally pulled up in front of the Fairmont Hotel. “I’ve already decided I’m going to gently drop the fact that Shar Levine was cast in High Country Renegade after she got one.”

As we made our way into the hotel and followed signs for the event, I glanced around at all the formally dressed A-listers streaming along with us in case Robbie happened to be arriving at the same time. There was no sign of him.

While he was very experienced at events like this because of his father, he didn’t exactly enjoy them. I wondered how long he’d stay, if and when Robert lost interest in introducing him around.

“Good god, is that Spider Morelli?” Mandi asked in a low voice as we entered the Crown Room. “I thought he lived in London now.”

“He does,” I murmured, giving the actor an up-nod when he met my eyes.

“Can you introduce me?” Mandi asked in the same hushed whisper.

I approached the popular actor and did as Mandi had asked, shaking his hand before excusing myself to find a glass of wine for my date.

As I moved further into the large, open space, I saw the lights of the city below contrasting with the dark patches of water. People gathered around the room in groups, talking, laughing, and drinking, while a small three-piece jazz band played in a far corner.

Several people stopped me to say hello as I navigated past servers offering finger foods from trays and finally found the bar. “Glass of chardonnay and a vodka tonic, please,” I murmured to the bartender.

“Hey, stranger,” my sister said, surprising me with a hug.

“Nadine, what are you doing here? Not that I’m not happy to see you.”

She gestured to a tall man in a custom suit. I recognized him as someone I’d once played in a charity golf tournament with. “Austin invited me. He’s a big supporter of Robert’s charity tonight, so he didn’t want to miss it.” She looked at me funny. “I texted you the other night, but you must have missed it.”

“Sorry,” I said softly, silently admitting I’d been a little distracted lately. “Austin Spellman, right? Kingman, Spellman, and Ruck, the attorneys?”

The man’s face widened in a friendly smile as he reached out a hand to shake. “Good memory. Yes, but my father and little brother are those Spellmans. I’m a money manager.”

Nadine laughed and patted his arm. “He’s being modest. Austin’s a partner at Monterra Capital.”
