“What are your thoughts on your brothers?”
“They’re carbon copies of my dad. They don’t believe a woman should need to worry about getting an education. It is beneath them.” She shrugged. “You know, it’s funny, because whenever my mom would get an answer wrong, my dad would go crazy, calling her dumb and stupid, and stuff like that. He’d also hit her, and she didn’t do well in school. She failed so many tests.”
“And what did your mom think of your dad?”
“She agreed with him,” Harper said. “Even when he would ridicule her. She said that in the past men took care of women, and that was needed now.” She sighed. “She didn’t want me spending too much time on my education. Of course, she also didn’t want to give me too much time either, because that meant it took time away from her devotion to my dad. I guess to some people, they had a great relationship. My mom loved my father, and he ... put up with her. I don’t know if he loved her, or she was the best match for him.”
“Do you love your family?” Enzo asked.
He saw her hand clench into a fist at her side. He held her tightly, not wanting to let her go.
“No, I don’t. Does that make me a bad person?” she asked.
“I killed my wife after she murdered our family, and I never loved her. I never had any feelings, so you’re asking the wrong guy.”
“I hate him and I hate all of them,” Harper said.
“He’s also a thief,” Enzo said.
“It doesn’t surprise me about my dad.”
“I paid you over eighty thousand dollars, and it has all gone missing from your bank account.”
Harper jerked within his arms. “Eighty thousand dollars? To be a cleaner?”
“You’re worth it,” Enzo said.
“And my dad has taken it all.” She sighed. “It figures, and yet, I got two hundred dollars last Christmas and was told to make it last. I still have one hundred and eighty of it left.”
He pressed a kiss to her shoulder. “You don’t have to worry about the money. You’re going to get every cent back, with interest.”
“How?”
“Let’s just say I can be persuasive, and your dad knows what is good for him.”
She sank against him. “Thank you.”
She was not going to need the money, but it was there for her.
“How are you feeling?”
“I’m good.”
“Are you sore?”
“I don’t feel sore.”
He slid a hand between them and down toward her pussy. He found her slit, stroked a finger between the sweet folds of her pussy and found her clit. Slowly, he started to tease her.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m playing with your pussy, and seeing as I was a little selfish and didn’t bring you to orgasm, I’m thinking I’m going to make up for that now.” He stroked her clit, using two fingers, and alternating to using one, as he glided it across her clit, allowing her to get accustomed to his touch. Then he pressed kisses against her neck, hearing her soft, subtle moan as she let one out. She was addictive, and he couldn’t get enough of her.
Enzo didn’t stop until her orgasm built, and he didn’t make her wait. Instead, he pushed her right over the edge and held her in his arms, refusing to let her fall. From now on, he was going to catch her every single time.
Harper was not alone.
Chapter Five
Harper was not avoiding Enzo on purpose.
She still had a job to do and since it was Monday, she was cleaning around his office and the main downstairs. She had a duster in her hands and a brand-new uniform. The one she wore yesterday when he’d taken her was gone. The bloodstains had been a nightmare to get out, and she’d already attempted twice, to no avail. At least she had two other uniforms.
Also, she might have snuck out of his bed this morning. It was past six, and she’d already slept in an hour.
After the bath last night, they came downstairs to have something to eat, then snuck upstairs. Enzo had made love to her that time, and it had been sweet, making her toes curl, and he took his time. There had been no pain, no unexpected feelings, just immense pleasure. She’d fallen asleep in his arms, and she had a horrible feeling she had crossed so many lines.
Enzo was still her boss, and he was part of the Villa Mafia. He was in charge of everything. She knew he’d killed in the past, and now she knew he killed his wife, not that she judged him. That woman, and she didn’t know who she was as there were no pictures in the house, had killed his parents and kids. It must have been a nightmare.
There was no way a mafia boss was going to fall in love with a cleaner, and she knew she was falling for him. For two years, she had watched him, keeping her distance, learning about the man, and there was nothing to not like.
