“We don’t,” Kellan said, then he whipped out his ID and put it right in her face. “We want to speak to her. Now.”
The girl froze, then glanced up at Kellan. Her eyes widened. “She . . . she’s back in her office. There.”
She pointed down the hallway.
Great.
Kellan strode off and she followed with Eli behind her.
“Kellan, you can’t use your ID like that,” she said.
“Why not?”
“Because you’re not here in an official capacity,” she explained.
He shrugged as though he didn’t care and she guessed he didn’t. Unfortunately, Ravina wasn’t in her office.
“Think that girl at the front desk lied to us?” she asked.
“Don’t know.” Eli looked around and they walked out of the office.
“We should go back out,” Kellan said. “Maybe we can wait and she’ll turn up.”
They walked back out. The girl at the front desk had disappeared and Arabella sighed in disappointment as they headed to their car.
Her gaze moved around and she caught sight of Ravina getting out of a car. She narrowed her gaze in on the driver as Ravina slammed the door shut, saying something through the open window. She appeared upset.
Then the driver drove away and she froze as she got a good look at him.
“What is it?” Kellan demanded.
“Lee. Ravina was talking to Lee. She just got out of his car.”
Ravina stormed across the street, not even seeing them as she entered her office building.
“How would she know Lee?” she asked, confused.
“Let’s go ask her, shall we?” Eli said.
Once more she followed Kellan into Ravina’s office. There was still no one at the front desk. That poor girl was probably recovering from her encounter with Kellan.
They walked into her office and Ravina glanced up from her phone with a frown.
“You!” Ravina said.
“Yes, me.” Arabella gave her a confused look. Why did she sound so accusatory? “I’ve been trying to get hold of you.”
“Why would I answer your calls after all the trouble you’ve caused me? Complaints to the sheriff of Haven and to my aunt who is on vacation? How inconsiderate.”
Arabella felt her temper stir. She could just take this from Ravina or she could stand up for herself. She shot Kellan and Eli a look, seeing their frowns. They wanted to step in but she needed to do this.
“I didn’t complain about you. I had some issues. The plumbing wasn’t working properly and there was barely any furniture. I checked the contract I signed and it was meant to be fully furnished. Not to mention the noises and lights at night.”
“Well, that had nothing to do with the house! I heard you complained to the sheriff and he assigned deputies to do drive-bys at night.”
“How did you hear that?” Eli asked.
“I have connections,” Ravina told him snottily. “Who are the two of you? Ew, don’t tell me you’re in a menage relationship. The people of that town are so weird.”
“Yes, we are in a relationship, but the people are not weird and you’re rude,” Arabella told her. “What happened to the furniture?”
“How should I know?” Ravina asked. “I didn’t take it. Maybe you did.”
“You’d do well not to accuse our girlfriend of anything,” Eli warned.
“Who are you?” Ravina repeated.
“FBI Agent Eli Jones and my brother, FBI Agent Kellan Jones.”
Was it her imagination or did Ravina just go white? Why would that scare her?
“Why are FBI agents here?” she demanded. “I’ve done nothing wrong.”
“I just told you that Arabella is our girlfriend,” Eli told her, looking at Ravina in interest.
“Well, now you can leave. I have nothing more for you. My aunt no longer wants me to handle the rental of that house thanks to you. So leave.”
“How do you know Lee?” Arabella asked.
“What? Who?” Ravina looked confused.
“Lee Newsome.”
“I don’t know who that is. Goodbye. Or do I need to call the police?”
Eli grasped hold of Arabella’s hand and tugged her to him. “Shh.”
She held back from saying anything more until they were safely in Eli’s car.
“Why wouldn’t you let me say something about seeing her with Lee?” she asked.
Both men turned to look at her.
“Because it was pretty obvious that she wasn’t lying,” Eli said. “She doesn’t know Lee Newsome.”
“But I saw her with him!” she said in frustration.
Kellan frowned. “Which means that she knows him by a different name. And Lee Newsome probably doesn’t really exist.”

“Is what I’m wearing all right?” she asked as walked out of the bedroom and into the small living area of the hotel room.
Kellan was sitting at the small table, but turned as she spoke. Eli had gone out to get a few things to take with them to the barbeque. He’d taken Horse with him so it was just the two of them.
She was wearing a pair of black linen shorts and a simple white T-shirt. She didn’t want to be overdressed. Or underdressed.
“Or should I wear a dress? Am I underdressed? I am, aren’t I?” she said.
