From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes the third book of the Wall Men Trilogy, a suspenseful Dark Fantasy filled with monsters, vampires, giants, and love.

HER PLAN IS SIMPLE: FIGHT LIKE HELL!

I never asked for any of this. Not to be taken to a strange, violent land. Not to be married off to a giant or get stuck between warring kingdoms filled with ravenous monsters.

Nor did I ask to be turned into a vampire and placed on the throne. Ruler of them all. This is crazy!

But now that I see what these creatures have in store for my world, I have to step up, even if it terrifies me. Because no one is coming to save my little town back home or the rest of the world I love despite its flaws. I’m the cavalry.

Lucky me, I have a plan. Unlucky me, I just discovered that my fifty-foot-tall warlord husband might be the key to carrying it out.

If only I could trust him. But I can’t.

And if only I weren’t in love with the ghost of his dead brother. But I am.

And if only I knew how this is going to end. I don’t.

But today, I fight. Today, I risk it all for what I love.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER ONE

“Lake, you have been our ruler for over a week now. We must summon the citizens of Monsterland for your inaugural address,” says a deep voice I know well, better than I like to admit.

“Fuck off, Gabrio,” I mutter, not bothering to pull my mouth away from the giant who’s donating his rich syrupy blood. It tastes delicious—like warm hot chocolate on a cold day—but nothing, not even this, has managed to sate my hunger since I was turned into a vampire seven days ago.

It doesn’t even bother me that while all the other vampires are inside sleeping, I’m out here in the courtyard in the middle of the day, with nothing more than a flimsy tarp to shield me from the red sun. All I want is blood.

Without even looking, I know Gabrio’s emerald-green eyes are narrowed into tight little slits, and he’s glaring at me.

“At least meet with the leaders, my queen. They’re beginning to wonder if you’re truly strong enough to rule.”

“Like I said,” I snarl, “I’m busy.” I return to the giant’s delicious arm, which is the thickness of my waist. I’ve decided giants—aka War People—are my favorite food. Tastier yet are the Wall Men. They’re the toughest warriors among the giants and are given the honor of guarding the wall that separates this world from mine. For some reason, their blood is even sweeter.

I lower my head, finding a fresh patch of skin. My fangs pierce the flesh, making a pop! sound. Warm, sweet liquid pools in my mouth and slides down my throat. My eyes roll into the back of my head, and I moan with pleasure.

“Lake,” Gabrio barks, “you have eaten enough for the entire Blood People army. You have a duty!”

Duty? Did he just say duty? I did not choose to become queen of Monsterland any more than I chose to be a vampire. If it were up to me, I’d be human again and back home in my world—something they’ve denied me.

“Lake, please.” Gabrio places a hand on my shoulder.

“Don’t touch me!” I swivel my head in his direction. Gabrio has long blond hair and the distinctive, overtly masculine features of a hardened warrior, just like his brothers. Wide shoulders, strong arms, muscled legs, and battle-scarred chests. Unlike his brothers, Alwar and Tiago, Gabrio is not a giant. Not anymore.

I bet he still tastes sweet, like a milkshake.

I lick my lips and stare at his powerful neck.

Before I know it, I’m lunging through the air, my sharp fingernails extended, ready to latch on to Gabrio’s broad shoulders.

The impact of my body sends him flying back onto the stone floor. I immediately go in for the kill, pinning Gabrio’s arms to the ground while straddling him. The thrumming pulse of the vein in his neck fills my ears like a symphony.

Or maybe a dinner bell. I open my mouth and angle my fangs for the fatal jab.

“No you don’t,” says a gravelly voice.

It’s my fucking husband, Alwar, king of the War People and leader of the Wall Men. Here to spoil my fun again.

He lifts me fifty feet in the air, level with his face, pinching his large fingers under my arms. He used to have long deep amber hair with streaks of black and red and a beard that touched his chest—a source of pride for the Wall Men, but now his hair his cropped short, and his face has a thick wash of black scruff. The Wall Men cut their hair before going into battle, and recently, there’s been a lot of warring over control of the wall.

I snap my teeth. “Let me go, Alwar, or I swear I’ll—”

“What?” He cocks a dark brow, his sapphire blue eyes glinting with amusement. “You’ll bite me?”

“Yes!” I hiss. “I’ll drink you to fucking death.”

He laughs into the air, and his bare chest quakes in time with his deep chuckles. “I welcome you to try, wife.”

His dismissiveness strikes a bitter chord. I’ve been through hell for him, even going so far as to secure his freedom after he was captured by the Mountain People, the latest group to attack the wall. I’ve bled, fought, suffered immeasurable loss, and endured the impossible, all to help him and his people.

“This isn’t a joke, you fucking piece of shit.” I try to wiggle free so I can sink my teeth into one of his fingers. But even with my new strength, I’m no match for a three-hundred-and-fifty-year-old giant.

“You are right; this is not a joke. Your bloodlust is about to cost us everything, including the wall. Is that what you want?”

No. I don’t. The wall is the only thing protecting my world from this one. And, in case you haven’t noticed, this world is filled with hungry violent monsters. Like me.

“Why, Alwar? Why the hell did you do this to me?” It pisses me off. And apparently, being pissed off makes a vampire’s hunger go through the roof. I’m insatiable.
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a suspenseful Dark Fantasy, Wall Men: Book Two, a Vow Broken.
MARRYING A GIANT IS ONLY THE FIRST OF HER MISTAKES…
Here’s a terrifying fact: monsters live in a world only a step away from ours. And they love eating people. I’d know because I was taken prisoner by one, the Blood King. Vampires. Blech! Steer clear of those.
Luckily for us, getting here isn’t so easy. They’d have to cross a bridge that’s protected by a wall built by my ancestors and guarded by the Wall Men.
Unlucky is that the wall is under attack, and the king of the Wall Men wants my help. By marrying him.
Did I mention he’s a fifty-foot-tall warlord? And that the marriage must be—gulp—consummated?
To save both our worlds, I must say “I do” in a forever vow with a major string attached. Except my giant husband kept the biggest string hidden from me, and now it’s too late to escape.
I won’t do it. You’re out of your mind.” I stare defiantly at the king of giants through the strange window. From where I’m standing, it looks like I’m talking to a moving painting mounted to the wall in my grandmother’s attic.

Really, the painting is a window into another world. A world filled with giants, vampires, dragons, and all the creatures found in fairy tales. Except these creatures aren’t cute and cuddly. They’re monsters. Hungry, cruel, meat-eating monsters. And most of them would like nothing more than to come here to our world and gobble up us humans.

“What do you mean, no?” Alwar snarls. “We are at war, and I need your help.”

“No is a pretty simple word,” I reply.

Alwar’s sapphire-blue eyes narrow. “You will do as you are told, Lake Norfolk, or—”

“Or what?” I snap. “Are you going to come over here and spank me? Maybe make me drink more of that nasty Flier nectar.” There’s nothing in the world that could make me succumb to either. I don’t care if Alwar is fifty feet tall. I won’t ever let him lay a finger on me. As for drinking Flier nectar—aka dragon semen—again, I’d rather die of starvation. Monsterland food is vile. They will literally eat anything.

“If I could cross over,” he growls, “I would be shoving my fist up your—”

“Enough!” Gabrio, with his flowing golden hair, steps between me and the window. Gabrio, who was once Alwar’s right hand in Monsterland, is now here with me—a fact he’s probably not so happy about. Especially because the journey made him human size, the mechanics of which are still a mystery.

“Do not enough me, Gabrio,” Alwar warns.

“Sir, she is human. She does not respond to threats. If you wish her to consider your proposal, you must speak her language.”

Through the distortion of the window, I watch Alwar’s face contort like that of a man who’s swallowed a bee. I sort of want to laugh. Except this isn’t funny. This Wall Man, this angry giant warlord, actually wants me to marry him.

“Forget it,” I say to Gabrio. “I don’t care how nicely Alwar asks, I’m not going to be his wife.”

Alwar growls, “Name one good reason not to wed me.”

“Name one good reason to!” Off the top of my head, I can think of several objections. For starters, I would like to marry a man who loves me. Also, there’s a bit of a size difference that would make sex difficult, considering my entire body is probably the same size as his cock. No way to sugarcoat that one. Finally, I’m guessing marriage would require me to live in Monsterland, and I hate their world. I’m not talking dislike, I’m talking hate-hate. It’s the most barbaric, violent place I’ve ever seen.

“I am out of options, Lake,” Alwar argues. “This is the only way to defeat the Blood King and keep your world from being devoured alive.”

Crap. That’s a pretty good reason.

I turn and look up at Gabrio, taking in the finer details of his elegant, masculine face—the high cheekbones, the golden eyelashes that match his long blond hair, and the pillowy lips framed by a golden-brown beard. “I trust you. So if you can honestly say I should marry Alwar, then I’ll consider it.”

Gabrio blinks his emerald-green eyes at me. “Alwar’s suggestion could turn the tide of the war; however, you should be the strong Norfolk woman you were born to be and decide for yourself.”

“What! What talk is this?” Alwar protests.

“She asked. I answered,” Gabrio replies. “Marriage is a lifelong vow. There is no such thing as divorce. Not for you or her. It cannot be undone except through death.”

“You think I do not know this?” Alwar roars, and the two start bickering through the window.

Meanwhile, all I can think about is the big picture. Alwar is trying to prevent the wall standing between my world and theirs from falling. If it does, all bets are off. That wall houses the bridges, which are the only way to get here. The bridges act as a stopgap for any monsters who attempt to get through. They filter out “monster genes”—thus the reason Gabrio is human size now. But if the wall is destroyed, we lose the bridges, and all the hungry creatures of Monsterland will cross over—full size. It would take them a month to wipe us out. Maybe less. There are ten trillion of them and only seven billion of us.

“Okay. If marrying you will keep my world safe, I’ll do it,” I say.

Both men look at me.

“What?” I snap.

“But,” Gabrio objects, “you don’t understand.”

“Understand what? That I’m agreeing to do whatever’s necessary to keep the wall safe because I can’t stand the thought of trolls or Skins or Blood People coming here and eating babies, pregnant women, old people, young people, all the damned people?”
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a suspenseful Dark Fantasy, Wall Men, Book One. (Book Two, coming June 2022!)
MONSTERS? VAMPIRES? GHOSTS AND DEMONS? MEN WHO GUARD THE WALL BETWEEN US AND THEM.
I’m sitting at my grandma’s bedside, moments away from losing her, when she begins to rant about monsters and men trapped in her old mansion. I practically grew up there, so I know it’s the pain meds talking. There’s nothing inside that drafty house except rotting books, rusty pipes, and neglected antiques.
“I’ve written down all the rules, Lake. You must follow them,” she tells me, gasping for air. “The Wall Men cannot get free. They are soulless and evil. They will try to seduce you. But you cannot listen. They must remain chained to the wall.”
What the…?
In her final breath, she makes me swear to read her journals. But above all, I must promise to never go inside her bedroom, the one that’s always kept locked.
Madness!
Weeks after her funeral, I’m forced to confront the neglected estate she’s left behind. I can’t afford the taxes, so it has to be cleaned and sold.
That’s when I hear a deep velvety voice on the other side of her bedroom door, demanding to be let out.
And dammit if I don’t want to break my promise and see who’s on the other side.
I pray there’s been a mistake. I’m not ready to lose my grandma, even though I’ve known for months she’s nearing the end.

“I’m sorry, Lake, I wish we could do more.” She offers a sympathetic look that feels rehearsed. Of course, I know it’s her job to help families deal with the inevitable, so I’m not put off.

I appreciate her professionalism at a time when my heart is breaking. I thought Grandma Rain had a few more weeks, but as I was driving over just now, I got the call. This will be my last chance to speak to her.

I hold back the tears. “Thank you for taking such good care of her.”

“I’m here for you. Whatever you need.” The nurse gently squeezes my shoulder. “I’ve given your grandmother a sedative to keep her comfortable, so she might be a little out of it. Press the red button if you need anything.”

I thank the nurse again and enter the white sterile room. The blinds are open, and the afternoon sun is shining across the foot of Grandma’s bed. They’ve taken off her oxygen and unhooked her IV. It was one of her final requests. No crap attached to her body.

“Grandma Rain? I’m here.”

She doesn’t respond, but her chest is moving beneath her favorite gray flannel nightgown.

I tug on the beige blanket covering her frail legs and bring it up to her waist. I don’t know how to digest the harshness of the moment. I don’t know how to say goodbye. Grandma Rain raised me as her own after my parents disappeared. Still, there’s a part of me that feels grateful her suffering is coming to an end. Pancreatic cancer is not a nice way to go.

“Grandma Rain, can you hear me? I’ve come to say goodbye.”

She doesn’t respond, and I can only hope she knows I’m here. She’s not dying alone.

I grab the green pleather armchair from the corner of the small room and drag it across the linoleum floor, parking it next to her bed.

I sit and take her cool soft hand. So many thoughts are running through my mind. If she can hear me, what do I say? I want to thank her for everything. I want her to know how much I love her and—

“You’re late,” she snaps, cracking open a pale blue eye.

I jolt in my seat. “Oh my God. You’re awake.”

“What took you so long to get here, girl? Who makes an old woman wait to die?”

“I’m—I’m so sorry. Jim made me stay an extra hour.” Jim is my boss at the 911 call center. We’re always shorthanded. Mostly because the pay is shit, the hours are long, and the job can be stressful. It was only supposed to be a temporary gig while I looked for a teaching job, but that’s life. I needed a job close to home.

The good thing about Tionesta, Pennsylvania, where I work, is that it’s generally quiet. We get the tourists in the summer who go up to the lake and sometimes drink too much—boating accidents and heatstroke—but that’s about the worst of it. We actually live about thirty minutes east of Tionesta in Mayburg. Population: It depends. Mayburg is literally a bend in the Tionesta Creek along Route 666 near the Allegheny National Forest. There are a few family farms, but most of it’s thick wooden forest. Cold as hell in the winter.

“Your boss is a useless fuckhole,” Grandma Rain says. “Someone should light his dick on fire and throw him off a cliff before he procreates.”

Did I mention that Grandma Rain is a foulmouthed curmudgeon who hates just about everyone except me, her dog Master, and her live-in handyman, Bardolf?

I’m told by Bardolf, “Bard,” that when Mom was around, she and Grandma didn’t get along either. “Like two feral cats, ready to scratch each other’s eyes out,” he once said. Dad was barely welcome on Grandma’s estate. It was why the police accused Grandma of killing my parents when they disappeared over twenty years ago. I was almost nine at the time.

Obviously, no evidence was ever found, but the rumors never stopped. The locals hate Grandma just as much as she hates them.

As for me, I don’t know what I’m going to do after she’s gone. Grandma Rain and I are opposites in every sense of the word—she’s mean, I’m not. She’s tall, I’m five two. She wears her hair short, mine is long and dark. Blue eyes, brown eyes. Winter, summer. Hates everyone, loves everyone. Still, despite our differences, we always got along.

Maybe because I grew up feeling lucky to have her. She loved me, encouraged me to be independent, and made sure I got an education. I never minded her eccentricities or profanity because deep down she’s the sort of woman who’ll fight tooth and nail for you. And for the record, she loved my mom, Storm. Her disappearance is what made Grandma so inconsolably bitter, though she’d never admit it. Too prideful.
