The perfect jailer and the perfect bodyguard… or the perfect man?

As the youngest son of a sheikh, Gadiel’s tired of living a lie and staying in the closet. His plans to run away with a handsome, flirtatious American are thwarted when Gadiel’s family forces a bodyguard on him who’s paid to watch his every move.

Will Summers wasn’t looking for a new job. When his cousin talks him into becoming the bodyguard of the spoiled prince he’s infatuated with, Will is less than enthused. He doesn’t expect to start liking his new charge—or thinking of him as his property.

Gadiel hates Will immediately. He’s the most infuriating, unshakable man he’s ever met. He drives him crazy—but his anger turns into a fixation. He shouldn’t be so obsessed with his straight, controlling bodyguard when he’s already met the man of his dreams.

Will knows Gadiel’s just a job. Giving in, indulging his need to be touched, would be wrong. And Gadiel knows Will can never be his.

But as loyalties begin to shift and lines blur, Will’s professional protectiveness twists into possessiveness—and something far more dangerous

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter 1

“I want you to become my boyfriend’s bodyguard.”

Will Summers stared across the table at his cousin. “What?” Was it a joke?

But Scott repeated, “I want you to become my boyfriend’s bodyguard.”

“I didn’t even know you had a boyfriend,” Will said, keeping his voice low. In the past half a year in this country, he’d learned to be careful when they talked about his cousin’s sexuality. Dubai might be more cosmopolitan than other areas of the UAE, but that didn’t mean much. Just the other day he’d seen an article about some men being arrested for “public indecency”—a chaste kiss. Talking about Scott’s love life might be safe enough, but it didn’t hurt to be careful.

Scott shrugged, a sheepish smile curling his lips. “It’s kind of new. And to be fair, he isn’t my boyfriend yet. But I’d like him to be.” He leaned forward, his blue-gray eyes gleaming with excitement. “I know he’s The One for me, Will.”

Will scoffed. “You said the same about your previous boytoy—what was his name? Travis? He didn’t last two weeks.”

“This is different,” Scott said. “I’m in love, I swear.”

Will raised his eyebrows. For all of his cousin’s propensity for fleeting infatuations, it had been a while since he’d claimed to be in love. Possibly a year. “All right, I’ll humor you: you’re in love. Congratulations. Why do you want me to be your crush’s bodyguard?”

Scott grimaced and, looking around, lowered his voice. “He’s the son of the local sheikh. He has a security detail 24/7. I can’t get close to him at all. But if you become his—”

“Hold on,” Will said, frowning and leaning closer. “He’s the son of the sheikh of Dubai? Are you out of your mind?”

Scott gave a crooked smile. “I can’t help who I fall in love with, all right? The heart wants what the heart wants.”

“The heart?” Will said dryly. More like Scott’s dick.

Scott smirked. “All right, maybe not just my heart. But you’d understand if you saw him! He’s, like, the hottest little thing I’ve ever seen. Gorgeous lips and eyes and ass—”

“Scott,” Will said with a grimace. “I’m not interested in his... assets. And it doesn’t matter. Have you lost your mind? Don’t you understand how dangerous it is?”

“Of course I do! I’m not an idiot.” Scott’s expression became dreamy. “But he’s such an angel, it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. He’s The One for me, really.”

Will sighed inwardly. Maybe it was cynical of him, but it was hard to believe, considering that Scott seemed to find his so-called The One every other month. Will couldn’t say he could relate. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt more than mildly interested in anyone. If they didn’t look so alike—both tall, light-eyed brunets—Will would question their blood relationship.

“Are you really willing to go to jail for that guy?” Will said, pulling out his phone. He opened Google and searched for the sheikh of Dubai.

Hmm...

The sheikh of Dubai had three sons. The eldest was in his late thirties and married. He was also definitely not Scott’s type. The middle son was in his early thirties and objectively handsome, but his hard, cold gaze was unlikely to inspire such sappy nonsense.

The third son...

Will made a face as he studied the picture. The guy—the kid—was drop-dead gorgeous, he’d give him that. Wavy brown, tousled hair that nearly reached his neck. Stunning blue eyes. High cheekbones. Lush, pink mouth. He didn’t look like an Arab, but a glance at his Wikipedia page cleared up Will’s confusion: the kid had a British mother, who’d divorced the sheikh and left for the UK when the kid was six.

“He’s jailbait, Scott,” Will said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“He’s nineteen!”

Will gave him an incredulous look. If Wikipedia was to be believed, the kid had just turned nineteen. Today.

“And you’re twenty-seven,” Will ground out. “It’s creepy and gross. Not to mention a million other things. Suicidal among them.”

“I love him,” Scott declared. “He’s The One for me. Age is just a number anyway.”

Will drew a deep breath and let it out slowly. God give him patience. At times like this, he felt like he was older than Scott by ten years, not ten months. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Scott had always been the baby of his family, spoiled and doted over, while he had learned to fend for himself since he was a small boy. As an orphan who’d been kindly taken in by his uncle, he’d always felt like he had to earn his place in that family—and the world in general. It had made him grow up fast. When Scott was still playing PlayStation all day long, Will had already been earning a living.

But despite the differences in their circumstances and personalities, they’d always been close. Will had always considered Scott a little brother he had to look out for. And he had, for the past two decades. To be fair, it wasn’t just a one-way relationship. Scott, for all his spoiled ways, was a good guy at heart. It had been his idea to accompany Will abroad when Will’s client had moved his business to the UAE. Will had tried to talk Scott out of it—the UAE was hardly a place for an openly gay man—but Scott had been undeterred. He’d argued that as a trust fund baby, he could do whatever he wanted and that he didn’t want Will to be “all alone” in a foreign country. Will had scoffed at that, but truth be told, he had appreciated the sentiment, so he’d allowed Scott to tag along.
A toy for a sheikh.

That’s who Aiden Gates a straight guy sold to one of the richest men in the world.

What he isn’t is besotted with the cold-hearted, cynical bastard who bought him like a thing. Aiden hates that man. Utterly abhors him.

But before long, Aiden’s obsessive hatred starts turning into an obsession, pure and simple–and then into something far worse.

Wanting that bastard is bad enough.

Needing him is sickening.

His feelings aren’t real. He’s a pretty bird in a gilded cage. A dirty little secret.

But when the cage is eventually broken, can he learn to live without it? Without him?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Elephants.

There was a small herd of elephants stomping all over his head. Or at least it felt like it.

He groaned, rubbing at his pounding temples. Had he had too many drinks last night? He felt nauseated and dizzy. It almost seemed like the ground was moving under him. Speaking of the ground, he was lying on something hard and uncomfortable. Why was he on the floor?

“Hey, you, are you finally awake?”

A female voice. One he didn’t recognize. It definitely didn’t belong to his sister or mother—and he currently didn’t have any other woman in his life. Where was he?

He opened his eyes blearily and turned his pounding head.

A windowless room.

There were eight other people in the room. And the ground definitely was rocking.

Also—his hands were handcuffed together.

Handcuffed.

He stared blankly at the handcuffs.

Unless he’d suddenly developed a penchant for kinky, exhibitionist sex overnight, this was more than a little alarming. He couldn’t remember how he could have possibly ended up handcuffed.

What did he remember?

Aiden. That was his name. He was Aiden Gates, a twenty-year-old, a junior at Northeastern University, the youngest son of Edward and Veronica Gates.

The last thing he remembered was… He’d been… He’d been walking home after hanging out at his friend’s house for a little get-together before Christmas. He remembered footsteps behind him—and then nothing.

“Are you mute or something?” the same voice said.

Aiden shifted his gaze to the person addressing him: a young woman around his age. She was very pretty, with shiny golden hair and wide blue eyes.

She was handcuffed too. Actually, all the other people in the room were, as well.

Aiden really didn’t like the implications.

Fuck, this was too much, even by his standards. He’d always had a history of getting into scrapes. Trouble simply had a way of finding him. His mom never tired of telling the story of how a three-year-old Aiden had toddled out of the house and somehow ended up at the other end of the city. It had gone downhill from there over the years, and Aiden could only laugh at his misfortunes, but this… this was something else.

“I’m not,” Aiden said belatedly, hauling himself into a sitting position, which was unexpectedly difficult without using his hands. “Sorry—it took me a few moments to get over waking up handcuffed in a room full of handcuffed strangers. It doesn’t happen to me every day.”

“Point,” she murmured with a small smile. “I’m Janice.”

“Aiden,” he said, waving his cuffed hands. “I would shake your hand, but…” He took a deep breath and dropped his light tone. “Do you know what’s going on here?”

Janice’s lips pursed. “I’ve been here for two days, so yeah, I’ve overheard some stuff when they brought you guys in. They’re in the human trafficking business.”

Aiden grimaced. He couldn’t say he was surprised. Just his luck, really.

“We’re on a ship, right?”

“Yeah,” she said.

“Do you know where they’re taking us?”

Janice’s expression darkened. “They want to sell us in the Middle East. One of them mentioned the UAE.”

Great. What were the chances of them being found halfway across the world?

Aiden screwed his eyes shut. All right, there was no need to panic yet. The authorities might catch these assholes any moment now, for all he knew. It would take the ship, what, weeks to get to the UAE? There was still plenty of time for their kidnappers to get caught.

His family was probably already freaking out.

Aiden winced at the thought, but pushed it away to focus on the more pressing issues.

He looked at the other people in the room more carefully. There were five women, including Janice, and three other guys besides Aiden. All of them were young and incredibly good-looking. And all of them were blond, which was a weird coincidence.

Or maybe not a coincidence at all.

“Is there a reason we’re all blonds?” Granted, their hair color ranged from dark blond to Aiden’s strawberry blond, but still.

Janice wrinkled her pretty nose. “Apparently perverted sheikhs like exotic pets, and natural blond hair is rare and valuable.” She pursed her lips. “Yes, they actually checked if I was a natural blonde. They checked all of us. And never mind that some of us don’t even have hair down there.”

Aiden pulled a face, glad that he’d been unconscious for that.

“Did they say anything else?” he said, trying to ignore the crying girl in the corner. She was the only one crying, but the others didn’t look much better. The guy with dirty blond hair seemed on the verge of crying too, his eyes wide and freaked out, his breath coming in loud, ragged gasps.

“No,” Janice said. “Most of the assholes don’t speak English, so I have no idea what they were saying.”

“Does anyone here know their language?” Aiden said, raising his voice a little.

No one replied.

Sighing, Aiden sagged back against the wall and tried hard not to think about what would happen to them if their kidnappers didn’t get caught.
Jordan Gates isn’t easily flustered—or easily scared.
When his boss asks him to accompany him to Italy for a family wedding, Jordan agrees. He’ll get paid handsomely for his trouble.
There’s a catch, though. Several catches.
1. He’s there as bait: Jordan has to pose as his boss’s real boyfriend, who looks a lot like Jordan.
2. Someone in his boss’s mafioso family wants to murder them.
3. That someone is probably Damiano Conte, a cold, ruthless bastard who has no right to be so hot.
Everyone says Damiano is a sociopath with no capacity for real emotion. Jordan believes them. But he can’t seem to stay away, fascinated with the man despite his better judgment.
When the family visit turns into a nightmare of betrayal, kidnapping, and murder, Jordan has to rely on Damiano to keep his sanity. Can he trust a heartless, manipulative sociopath? Can he stop craving him after he returns to his normal life?
Can a man who doesn’t feel fall in love?
Good luck.”

Jordan Gates gave the secretary a faint smile before opening the door and going inside.

There were very few things Jordan disliked as much as being called to his boss’s office. As a department head, he saw him more often than the average employee, but being unexpectedly summoned to Raffaele Ferrara’s office was never a good sign. Thankfully, it hadn’t happened all that often in the years that he’d worked for the company.

Jordan came to a halt, his face carefully schooled into a mask of polite attention as Ferrara looked at him from across the desk.

“Sit,” Ferrara said tersely.

Jordan didn’t take the tone personally. Ferrara’s abrupt, harsh manner was rather legendary. The vice president of the Caldwell Group wasn’t one for small talk.

Jordan sat down in one of the chairs. “You wanted to see me, sir?” Ferrara was just a year older than he was, thirty-three, but his very presence seemed to demand respect, so it wasn’t all that off-putting to have to address his peer as sir. Ferrara had men twice his age addressing him that way.

His boss regarded him for a moment, his black eyes rather unnerving—if Jordan were prone to feeling unnerved.

“I need your help.”

Jordan blinked. Until now, he had been sure those words weren’t in his boss’s vocabulary. “Of course. How can I help?”

Ferrara folded his hands on the desk, his expression sharp and assessing.

Meeting his gaze calmly, Jordan kept himself still as the silence stretched. He refused to let Ferrara intimidate him.

“You might have heard of the incident that happened to me three days ago,” Ferrara said at last.

Jordan raised his eyebrows. Incident? That was what Ferrara was calling an attempted murder? The entire company had been buzzing with speculation since someone had shot Ferrara. The bullet had just grazed his head, but there was still a lot of blood, and yet Ferrara was back at work the next day as if nothing had happened. The man truly was a workaholic.

“I’ve heard,” Jordan said dryly. He didn’t think there was anyone in Boston who hadn’t heard of it. Ferrara was one of the most successful businessmen in the city. It didn’t help that he was heavily rumored to have family links to the Italian mafia—the rumor that had been around for years and was a hot topic again.

“What you don’t know is that it was the third attempt on my life this month,” Ferrara said, his tone mild, as if he were talking about the weather.

Third?

Ferrara pinched the bridge of his nose and leaned back in his chair. “There’s more,” he said with obvious reluctance. “There has been a kidnapping attempt on Nate.”

Jordan frowned. It was widely known in the company that Nate Parrish was Ferrara’s lover. It had been a subject of much gossip last year. Although fraternization in the company was frowned upon, it wasn’t forbidden as long as it wasn’t within the same department. People still gossiped, of course. A lot of people disapproved, considering that Nate had been Ferrara’s PA before he was transferred to Jordan’s department to work as a level designer. Personally, Jordan didn’t give a shit. Nate was a good dev and he got the job done. Jordan didn’t care if Nate was also sucking their boss’s cock.
Boss from hell. Satan personified. A tyrant everyone fears.
Nate Parrish loathes his boss from the moment they meet.
Raffaele Ferrara is probably the most insufferable, domineering man in the world. He doesn’t seem to understand that his personal assistant isn’t actually his personal slave. He expects Nate to do his bidding with a single word. He expects that Nate’s whole life will revolve around him. He expects other, entirely unreasonable things, even though they’re both straight and there’s supposed to be a line your boss should never cross. Apparently, as his personal assistant, Nate has to assist him… personally.
Except Nate knows it’s just a game. His boss is straight. He knows Raffaele just wants to make him angry enough to quit. But Nate has always been too stubborn for his own good, and he’s determined to be the best assistant his boss has ever had, no matter how insane—or inappropriate—Raffaele’s orders may become. Before long, the two men are drawn into a twisted game neither wants to lose.
Nate knows it has to stop. He has to leave his job. It’s not good for his sanity. Except his horrible boss is like a bad addiction he can’t quit. The world feels boring without Raffaele’s intensity, and his focus on Nate might be infuriating… but it’s also something Nate’s starting to realize he can’t live without.
Just a Bit Bossy is a hate-to-love steamy MM romance that contains dubcon (the character gives his consent, but there's an obvious power imbalance between a boss and his assistant), lots of snark, a long-suffering sister, two straight men who become obsessed with each other, and a happily ever after.

He was just one of the many protesters gathered at the gates of the Caldwell Group’s headquarters. The tall building provided some protection from the cold October wind, but that was pretty much the only good thing about the situation. They were being ignored, the security guards simply monitoring them from afar.

“It’s useless,” someone in the thinning crowd grumbled. “They’re not going to come out and actually listen to us. We’re wasting our time.”

Others were nodding, looking dejected.

Nate frowned and lifted his sign higher. He refused to give up that easily. He wouldn’t let this soulless corporation destroy his favorite gaming franchise.

“Come on, guys.” Nate stepped forward. “Come on, we just need to be louder,” he said, looking at the other guys. There were only sixteen left, which was a little disheartening, but Nate didn’t let it show on his face. His dad always said that to make people believe in something you needed to look like you believed in it yourself, and Nate knew it was true. “We can’t let those assholes get away with it! Rangers deserve better! For Rangers!”

To his relief, the others seemed to become emboldened enough by his words and started yelling “YEAH, FOR RANGERS” at the top of their lungs.

Grinning, Nate did the same, and soon their shouts started attracting attention. Security guards approached them, demanding that they stop disrupting people’s work.

“We won’t leave until we are heard!” Nate said. “Tell those greedy assholes on the board to come down and meet us!”

The other guys made approving loud noises, clapping him on the back.

Encouraged, Nate shouted louder, “They won’t ignore us! They can’t silence us—”

“What’s going on here?” said a cold voice.

The hush was instant.

Nate turned—and met piercing black eyes.

He’d never seen black eyes before. He’d seen dark brown on the verge of black but never pitch, true black—outside of TV characters possessed by demons. This man had them: deep black eyes.

It took him a moment to wrench his gaze away and see the man those eyes belonged to.

Tall. Immaculate gray suit hugging the broad shoulders. Dark hair, finely shaped, heavy brows that made his hawk-like gaze rather unsettling. A five o’clock shadow, despite the early hour. There was something distinctly Mediterranean about his looks—Italian or Spanish, maybe Greek. The dimple on his chin was the only thing softening his appearance, but it only served to accentuate the hard, square line of his jaw.

From the way the man held himself, it was obvious he was someone important. He practically reeked of power and money, but Nate didn’t recognize him. To be honest, he wasn’t well versed in the executives of the Caldwell Group. The Caldwell Group was one of the biggest private companies in the country and its internal structure wasn’t known to the public. Nate could only recognize the CEO’s face, but that man definitely wasn’t him. Besides, Ian Caldwell was in a coma now. Everyone knew that.

“We want to speak to someone from the board of directors of the Caldwell Group,” Nate said when everyone else had failed to respond.

The black eyes seemed to bore a hole in him. “And who are ‘we’?” the man said, his expression vaguely condescending. “Why should a board member waste their time listening to some hooligans?”

Nate flushed. He looked at the other guys for support, but to his disbelief and annoyance, they were disappearing into the gathered crowd one by one. Fucking cowards.

“We’re representing the gaming community,” Nate said, even though he was pretty much the only one representing them at this point. He crossed his arms over his chest and glared at the man. “We won’t let you turn an iconic gaming franchise into a microtransaction-filled cash grab!”

The man’s expression was completely unmoved. “What is he talking about?” he said, still looking at Nate.

Someone behind the man cleared his throat. “It seems he’s talking about the new Rangers game, Mr. Ferrara. It’s one of the old intellectual properties that we bought—”

“Ah,” the man—Ferrara—said, his lips twisting derisively. “I thought he meant something else when he talked about an ‘iconic gaming franchise.’ An irrelevant IP no one even remembered until we reinvented it hardly qualifies as such.”

Nate’s hands clenched from pure rage. He stepped closer to the asshole and glared up at him, hating that he was two inches shorter, even though he was pretty tall himself. “The Rangers IP is a single-player RPG franchise with twenty years of rich history,” he spat out. “And your greedy company turned it into a soulless cash grab of a multiplayer game with dumbed-down mechanics for teenagers! The story of Rangers 5 was so laughably poor and incompetent, it could have been written by a fifteen-year-old—a stoned one.”

Ferrara stared at him with a strange expression: as if he were a bug, but a mildly interesting one. “Thanks for the feedback,” he said flatly. “I’ll pass it to our lead writer. Is that all?”
You’re being terribly rude.”

Andrew Reyes tore his gaze from the gay couple and looked at his wife. Vivian was frowning at him, disapproval plain on her kind face.

Andrew scowled. “What’s rude is that they’re practically groping each other in front of us,” he hissed. “It’s a public place. It’s bad enough that we have to sit next to those people for hours, but we don’t need to look at that—that indecency.”

Vivian chuckled, patting him on his arm. “Indecency? You sound like a Victorian lady from some BBC period drama. It’s the twenty-first century, Drew. Let them be.”

Andrew glared at his wife, annoyed that she didn’t share his annoyance. His gaze returned to the couple they were sharing the first-class cabin with, and he scowled again.

The older man, the one with dark hair and chocolate-brown eyes, was leaned back in his seat, his posture lazy and indulgent. The top two buttons of his blue shirt were unbuttoned, revealing a hint of his muscular chest.

The other guy, a redhead, was practically in his lap, kissing the man’s tan neck. Andrew couldn’t see his left hand, but he was pretty sure it was under the dark-haired man’s shirt. It was absolutely disgusting.

“Stop gawking at them, Andrew,” Vivian whispered exasperatedly.

Andrew barely heard her. His gaze followed the redhead’s right hand as it trailed down the other man’s muscular torso, over his abs, to his belt—

“Gross,” Andrew said, snapping his gaze upward.

Brown eyes locked with his. Their owner raised his eyebrows, staring him down.

Andrew glared at him, his face warm. He felt embarrassed, as if it were him who had been caught behaving shamelessly in a public place.

“Tom, move to your own seat,” the man said, pushing the redhead away gently. “We wouldn’t want to offend anyone’s sensibilities.”

The redhead—Tom, apparently—whined. “Come on, Logan, just ignore the bigot,” he grumbled, kissing him on the jaw. “He’s been gawking at us since the airport.”

Logan glanced at Andrew. “I know.”

Flushing, Andrew looked away and glowered at the clouds outside the window.

Vivian cleared her throat. “I apologize for my husband,” she said. “Andrew didn’t mean any offense.”

“I’m sure he didn’t,” Logan said, his voice very dry.

“No, really,” Vivian said. “He’s not bigoted. My brother is gay, too, and Andrew gets along with him just fine.”

Andrew smiled a little, feeling a rush of fondness. Vivian was ever the peacemaker, but that was an exaggeration even by her standards. He did get along with his brother-in-law, Derek Rutledge—if by “getting along” one meant that they tolerated each other for the good of the company and for the sake of Vivian. They barely spoke to each other if it didn’t concern Rutledge Enterprises, and Andrew talked to Derek’s husband even less. He couldn’t stand them, and it had nothing to do with him being bigoted. They had simply stolen everything he had worked for since he was twenty.

Sighing, Andrew reclined his seat back, closed his eyes, and tried to fall asleep. Sleep would help him pass the long flight from Tahiti back to the US, and it had the added benefit of preventing him from having to look at those people for hours. It had been a relaxing week, just the two of them in the beachside cabin they were staying in, but he felt so annoyed and tense now that he doubted he’d be able to fall asleep.

He must have managed to do it, because the next thing he knew, he was startled awake by a violent jolt.

For a moment, Andrew was disoriented, unsure where he was and what was happening.

Right. The plane.

The plane shuddered, again and again. They seemed to be caught in a thunderstorm, the clouds outside the window very dark, with lightning striking around them with alarming frequency.

The intercom chimed, followed by a tight female voice requesting all passengers to put their seats in the upright position and buckle down.

Doing as he was told, Andrew looked at Vivian in the seat next to him. She was very pale, her fingers gripping the armrest hard.

“Hey, it’s normal,” he said with a reassuring smile. “Turbulence. Every flight experiences some. Lightning can’t hurt the plane.” He tried not to think about the exceptions to the rule—the few cases when planes had crashed or been ripped apart due to bad storms. Those cases were a statistical anomaly.

Vivian smiled back faintly and nodded.

A man raced past them in a hurry, some crew following him a few seconds later. Another bump in the air rattled the plane again, the trembles becoming more alarming. Someone in economy screamed.

Vivian reached out and grabbed his hand.

“We aren’t crashing, don’t be silly,” Andrew said, squeezing it.

She didn’t say anything, just looked at him with wide eyes full of terror.

Swallowing, Andrew took a deep breath. He knew he must remain calm for her sake—even if he was nervous, too.
A ruthless CEO of a large company. A British student confused about his sexuality. They have nothing in common. The sizzling attraction between them makes absolutely no sense.
Ian Caldwell is the most arrogant, bossy man Miles has ever met. He drives Miles absolutely crazy. Although Miles has been warned that Ian is playing some dirty, underhanded game, he finds himself caught between his friends and a man he shouldn’t want.
Who will he choose when his heart and his mind are telling him two different things?

His flight to Boston had been late, then someone stole his wallet—with Miles’s credit card, his passport, and all his cash—and now the guy who was supposed to pick him up was late too.

Miles glanced at his phone for what felt like the hundredth time and frowned, looking around the crowded Boston Airport. His brother had assured him that his American friend would pick him up, but it had been an hour since his arrival and the bloke was still nowhere to be seen.

Just brilliant.

Strictly speaking, it wasn’t as though he needed to be picked up—he was twenty, not a child—but fighting his overbearing eldest brother on this was more trouble than it was worth. As the youngest child in his large family, Miles had long ago learned when to pick his battles and when to save his breath.

Zach had always been overprotective of him. He thought of Miles as more of a son than a brother. It was probably unavoidable, considering their significant age difference and the fact that Zach had practically raised him since Miles was a toddler. Needless to say, Zach didn’t approve of his decision to spend the summer overseas all by himself and insisted on Miles’s staying at his friend’s place. At least he hadn’t outright forbidden him from going. He could have, since Miles was a broke student financially dependent on his eldest brother.

It made Miles a little embarrassed that he was still such a baby, but he’d mostly made peace with it. He’d tried to be independent before—when he had moved out of Zach’s house at seventeen—but he hadn’t expected how difficult being on his own would be. London was expensive, and he’d ended up sharing a tiny room with two other guys from his class. It had certainly been a learning experience: he had learned that sometimes pride was stupid and pointless. He’d been embarrassed but relieved to return to Zach’s house with his tail between his legs. Since then, he hadn’t rebelled again, accepting Zach’s financial support until the time he would be able to be independent without having to skip meals to pay rent.

But still, having to depend on Zach’s financial support for his travels while he tried to figure himself out made Miles more than a little uncomfortable. That was why he had agreed to stay at Zach’s friend’s place: he didn’t want Zach to pay for his hotels too.

His phone went off in his hand.

Alexander Sheldon, the caller ID said.

Relieved, Miles answered. “Hey,” he said, a little awkwardly. He and Alexander didn’t know each other all that well. Alexander had been invited to dinner at their house when he’d been in London last summer, but with how large Miles’s family was, they had barely talked to each other. “Thanks for coming to pick me up. I’m at Terminal—”

“Actually,” Alexander cut him off. “I’m really sorry, but I can’t pick you up. You have no idea how sorry I am, but you won’t be able to stay at our place either.”

Miles blinked, at a loss. “Oh. That’s—” That’s fine, he wanted to say, but it wasn’t really fine. He was in an unfamiliar city, in a different country, with no money, no credit card, and no passport.

“My fiancé’s parents got into a serious accident in Brazil yesterday,” Alexander said, his voice apologetic but distracted. “We’re already in Rio. We should have left you a key, but we left in such a hurry, your arrival slipped my mind.”

“Oh,” Miles said, frowning. “Are they okay?”

“Not really,” Alexander replied, his voice grim and tired. “My fiancé is a mess right now, and it’s been…” He sighed. “Anyway, look, I’m really sorry for this. I already asked our friends to pick you up and host you until our return—”

“You didn’t have to,” Miles said, wincing a little. It was one thing to stay at the place of a relative of a family friend—Alexander’s cousin, Jared, was an old family friend—but it was completely another to have to depend on strangers he didn’t know at all. “I don’t want to be a bother.”

“You won’t be,” Alexander said. “You’ll stay at Rutledge Manor. It has thirty bedrooms. Your presence there won’t make a difference, kid.”

“I’m not a kid,” Miles said without much heat.

“The Rutledges will send someone to pick you up soon. Sit tight.” Alexander sounded distracted again. “Okay, I have to go. Call me if you need anything. And I mean anything, all right? I promised Jared I would keep an eye on you, and he’ll have my balls if anything happens to you.”

Miles shook his head with a crooked smile. He knew Jared was protective of him, too—most of Zach’s old friends were—but he hadn’t expected that Jared would personally ask his cousin to keep an eye on him.
Except things get confusing–and frustrating–when fingers and toys aren’t quite enough. Enter Nick Hardaway, Tyler’s best friend. What’s a little fun between bros, right?

“Whoa, what are you doing?” he said with a chuckle, looking down at the naked blonde between his thighs. The view was fantastic, the curve of her waist and ass making him twitch in her mouth, but the wet finger in Tyler’s ass was weirding him out too much to fully appreciate the view.

Erica stopped sucking his cock long enough to grin and say, “Relax. Maybe you’ll like it. My ex liked having a finger up his ass during a blowjob. Said it felt more intense.”

Tyler shook his head with a laugh. “I’m not into that kind of thing, babe—”

She crooked her finger and Tyler saw stars, his body convulsing as he let out what was probably a mix of a scream and a moan. He came, and it felt like he kept coming and coming, his body trembling with pleasure.

When Tyler was finally able to focus his gaze again, he found Erica staring at him with a stunned look on her face.

“Wow,” she said faintly before smirking. “Not into it, huh?”

Tyler flushed, feeling uneasy, embarrassed, and a little freaked out, so he quickly rolled them over and went down on her until she forgot even her own name, much less…that incident.

Afterward, as he put her in a cab and took a long shower, Tyler tried not to think about what had happened. It wasn’t a big deal.

It wasn’t.

* * *

“Out with it.”

“What?” Tyler said into his beer.

“You’ve got something on your mind,” Nick said. “Spill.”

Tyler put his beer down and looked at his best friend across the table before flicking his gaze around the pub. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, man.”

Silence.

Sighing, Tyler returned his gaze to Nick, who just raised his eyebrows expectantly. Sometimes Tyler hated how well Nick knew him. Like, they were bros and all, but it fucking sucked to be such an open book to Nick. It had always annoyed Tyler back when they were in secondary school together—Nick had never bought his bullshit when Tyler boasted about his conquests. Nick had always just humored him with that annoyingly amused look in his eyes whenever Tyler…exaggerated things a little.

It was annoying that he still couldn’t lie to Nick for shit, even after all these years. It wasn’t like they lived in each other’s pockets nowadays. They didn’t go to the same school anymore: Nick was in law school while Tyler hadn’t bothered with uni after sixth form, choosing to work at his family’s pub instead. They had different friends these days, different interests and everything.

But fuck it. Nick Hardaway was still his best friend. They were bros for life; Tyler knew that. They hadn’t lost contact even in the year Tyler had lived with his grandparents in L.A. When he’d returned to London, their friendship was as solid as ever. Tyler had been the first person Nick had come out to, the person Nick had trusted the most. Like, they didn’t really talk about feelings—they weren’t little girls—but they both knew they had each other’s back, no matter what.

Which was why Tyler was considering sharing his…problem with Nick.

Licking his lips, Tyler stared at his best friend uncertainly.

Nick stared back, his gray eyes expectant.

“Remember the blonde I hooked up with a few days ago?” Tyler said.

Nick took a slow sip from his beer, and there was something like curiosity in his eyes now. Nick knew Tyler didn’t get worked up over his hookups. Tyler hooked up a lot; it was easy, fun, and uncomplicated, which was basically his life motto.

“The one who was groping your prick on the dance floor?” Nick said.

“Yeah,” Tyler said, leaning back in his seat with a smirk.

Nick snorted. “Drop that stupid smirk. You look like a prat. A bigger one than you normally are.”

“The girls that go home with me every night clearly disagree with you, and sorry, their opinion is the one that counts.”

Nick laughed. “It’s fucking adorable that you really think they fuck you because of your stupid smirk. Thank your parents for their genes. That’s the only reason you get laid. Though, personally, I don’t see the appeal.”

Tyler rolled his eyes. Privately, he always thought Nick overdid it a little with the whole…not finding him attractive thing. It was a bit insulting, really. He wasn’t some kind of homophobic prick. Nick should have known better by now. He wasn’t going to run away screaming if Nick admitted that Tyler was hot—objectively speaking.

Like, Tyler was perfectly aware he was a little conceited, but it was for a reason, okay? It wasn’t his fault that women were so into him. He was a good-looking dude, objectively. He had nice, dark blond hair and blue eyes. Chicks were crazy about his eyes—which, truth be told, Tyler didn’t get, but whatever.
Sam Landon is a homeless eighteen-year-old thief who is desperate for a different life. When his skills attract the attention of the Secret Intelligence Service, Sam eagerly grabs the chance.
Sam’s determined to prove himself when he gets his first mission–to steal a flash drive from a paranoid crime lord–and is sent undercover as another agent’s sugar baby.
Dominic Bommer, his “sugar daddy,” is outrageously handsome, charming, rich, and pretty much perfect. Dominic is kind, generous, and protective of him.
Except “Dominic Bommer” is nothing but a role performed by a cynical MI6 agent, who is actually straight, aloof, and manipulative.
Sam is perfectly aware that everything Dominic does is carefully calculated, every emotion faked. He knows that men actually do nothing for Dominic and he doesn’t really want Sam.
But despite knowing all of this, Sam still finds himself falling hard for a man who doesn’t exist. Or does he?

The woman seated behind the massive desk gave the man a flat look. “Hardly, Agent. You were far younger when we recruited you.”

The man’s dark eyes met hers steadily. “He’s too young,” he repeated.

The woman studied him with pursed lips. Agent 11 was one of her least favorite agents for this very reason. He had… opinions. He belonged to the category of men she had always detested: men who always thought they were right, so confident in their own abilities that everyone just accepted that they were right. It grated on her nerves. Privately, she thought Agent 11 had a problem with a woman being in charge, but she had no way to prove it. He’d never crossed the line and was always unfailingly polite, even though she could often feel that he disagreed with her decisions.

Unfortunately, she had no choice but to tolerate him. He was one of her best agents, if not the best. His success rate was unparalleled. He was too good to get rid of, no matter how much she might dislike his attitude.

So she returned her attention to the boy on the screen. To be fair, Agent 11 had a point: the boy did look young. But they were hardly in a position to be picky.

“We need him,” she said shortly.

“He’s a homeless, untrained kid,” Agent 11 said. “What can he do that our trained agents can’t?”

She gritted her teeth. Did he think her incompetent? Although he was closer to thirty than to twenty, compared to her, he was no more than a boy himself. She was twenty years his senior. It was true that she didn’t have any field experience, but she hadn’t become the Chief of the British Secret Intelligence Service by being an idiot.

She knew she could tell him to do his job and stop questioning his superiors. But it wouldn’t be smart. Agent 11 was always more cooperative and efficient if he agreed with the mission.

“We need him for the Brylsko mission,” she said.

He said flatly, “You want to use an inexperienced, innocent kid to steal highly sensitive data from a Polish crime lord.”

She met his gaze unflinchingly, ignoring his unimpressed tone. “He’s more than experienced for the job. That ‘innocent kid’ has been pickpocketing since he was six. Our sources in London gangs—multiple sources—say that he’s the best out there. He has the moniker Shadow for a reason. Apparently it’s nearly impossible to catch him even when you know he’s going to steal from you. He’s that good.”

She thought Agent 11 looked a little interested now, but as usual, it was hard to read his face.

“I’m sure A19 can do the job,” he said. “And he’s not a kid.”

“Agent 19 isn’t suited for this particular mission,” she ground out. “He can neither play the role of the rich, hedonistic businessman nor can he be a believable sugar baby.”

She felt a little ridiculous saying the words “sugar baby” in a serious conversation, but she liked to be blunt. That was what they needed for the mission, after all: two agents to go undercover on a cruise, an exclusive luxury cruise for rich people who had a taste for younger pets. A19, for all his considerable talents in pickpocketing, lock picking and hacking, was an ordinary-looking twenty-year-old with a bad case of acne. He was best suited for missions that required anonymous agents that could blend with the crowd. He was definitely not suited for the Brylsko mission. No one would believe that a rich businessman would be interested in taking A19 as a pet, and A19 was too young to pull off the role of a rich sugar daddy.

Agent 11 looked at the screen as well. “And you think this homeless kid can make a believable pet? Even if he could pull it off, he’ll likely crumble under pressure. Pickpocketing random people is one thing. Stealing a flash drive from a paranoid crime lord and then putting it back without him noticing is another.”

She pinched the bridge of her nose. The worst part was, she knew A11’s concerns were valid. Not for the first time, she wished they could simply eliminate the target and get the flash drive, but it was not possible. They couldn’t risk it.

“At least, unlike A19, he does look the part,” she said, glancing at the screen again.

The boy on the screen was definitely attractive. He was taller than average, lithely muscled, with long legs and a nice smile. He was a bit too pale, as many redheads were, but the paleness of his skin only accentuated his bright green eyes and the red color of his lips. His eyes and those long eyelashes were probably his best features. Granted, that red hair was rather unfortunate, but some people liked the color. The curve of the boy’s generous mouth gave the impression of vulnerability, which was something that would definitely appeal to older men who liked younger companions.
Young, blond and handsome, Sage attracts unwanted attention in prison. When his cellmate offers him protection, Sage accepts the offer, even though he doesn't trust the guy. Little does he know how much it will change his life.

When he's released from prison, Sage finds himself needing and wanting things he shouldn't want. Sage is straight. He really is. He has a girlfriend. What happened in prison stayed in prison--or so Sage tells himself. Until he meets his former cellmate again. Xavier. The guy he hates and craves.
This short novelette contains explicit language and very steamy M/M sex. For mature audiences only. ~12,500 words

It looked like today was that day.

Keeping his eyes down, Sage followed the guard to his cell, feeling uneasy and strange in his new overalls. Like a criminal.

Sage almost laughed at himself. He was a criminal now, after having been sentenced to a year in prison for driving under the influence and injuring another person. It had been an accident, but no one cared. Well, he did, and Laura—his girlfriend—did too, and his mom had cried when the sentence was read out.

Sage swallowed, remembering his mom’s crushed expression. She had looked so small and old all of a sudden, and it was his fault. She always worried too much about him.

He pushed the thought away, trying to ignore the other prisoners banging against the bars and leering as he walked by. They were shouting obscenities that made his stomach twist into knots and bile rise to his throat.

He hoped it wasn’t obvious how scared he was. He wasn’t exactly skinny and short—he was taller than average, and he had some decent muscles—but he was nowhere as big as some of those guys. They were built like tanks. Truth be told, Sage was completely terrified, and once again, he wanted to kick himself for getting drunk and ending up in this mess. When he got out of here, he would never, ever get drunk again—if he got out of here at all. He’d be sharing his cell with someone who was most likely stronger, tougher, and meaner than he was—with a real criminal.

The guard shoved him into the cell. The door closed and locked behind him with a loud and somehow unsympathetic click.

Sage wet his lips, eyeing his cellmate.

The guy was lying on the bottom bunk, his eyes closed, so Sage took the opportunity to study him. He was tall and well-built. Dark, slightly curly hair, crooked nose, thick eyebrows, naturally tanned skin. He looked almost Hispanic, but not quite. He was probably around thirty, maybe thirty-five at most.

“You done staring?” the guy said, without opening his eyes.

Sage flinched. “Um, yeah. Sorry.”

“The top bunk is mine.”

Sage wanted to ask why he was lying in his bunk, then, but he had to bite his tongue. Being a smart-ass was probably not a good idea.

“I’m Sage.”

The guy opened his eyes. They were deep brown and oddly intense. His gaze swept over Sage before lingering on his mouth. “Nice to meet you, Sage. How well do you suck dick?”

Sage flushed, stepping back. “I’m straight.”

The guy lifted his eyebrows, looking vaguely amused. “Everyone’s straight here, Blue Eyes.”

“I have a girlfriend!”

The guy looked unimpressed. “Most of us have wives and girlfriends back home.” He got out of the bunk. A predator. He seemed like a predator.

His heart in his throat, Sage stepped back.

But instead of molesting him, the guy stretched his hand out for a handshake. “I’m Xavier.”

Taken aback, Sage shook the hand warily.

“It’s probably been a long day for you,” Xavier said. “Go to sleep. Nobody wanders around during the night.”

“Yeah, okay,” he said, immensely relieved. The guy had been probably just joking when he said that stuff about sucking his dick. Of course he was joking.

“I’m not going to fuck you tonight,” Xavier said. “Goodnight.”

Sage blinked. “What the—? You aren’t fucking me, dude!”

Xavier smiled. It was a surprisingly nice smile, his teeth white and even. He stepped closer to him until they were not even an inch apart. Sage swallowed, acutely aware that the guy was taller than him and much wider in the shoulders.

“Let’s cut to the chase,” Xavier said softly, looking him in the eye. “I’m going to fuck you. It’s going to happen and you’d better get used to the idea. You’re lucky you’re with me. I won’t hurt you, I won’t force myself on you, and I’ll protect you from others—if you suck my dick well. Believe me, other guys won’t be as nice as me.”

“If you aren’t going to force me, it’s not happening,” Sage said, trying to keep his voice firm. “Sorry, but I’m really straight. I have a girlfriend I love.”

For some reason, that made Xavier chuckle. “You’re lucky it’s boring as hell here and I love a good challenge.”

Before Sage could say anything, Xavier climbed onto the top bunk and before long was asleep.

Sage stood still, staring at nothing for a long time.

He barely slept that night.

The next morning came all too soon for his liking.

But it wasn’t as bad as he had expected—and feared.

The day passed normally enough. Yeah, he was ogled at and groped more than he had ever been in his life, but it wasn’t that bad. No one tried to attack him. No one tried… anything else.

When his work day was over, it was shower time—something he’d been dreading all day.

Shawn glanced at his watch and grimaced. It was one in the morning already; he had promised Mrs. Hawkins he wouldn’t come home later than midnight.

Bracing himself, he opened the door as quietly as he could. Emily was a light sleeper.

Shawn closed the door, wincing when it creaked. Dammit.

“Mr. Wyatt?” Mrs. Hawkins said, rubbing her eyes and sitting up on the couch.

Shawn glanced at the twins, but they didn’t seem to have woken up. He walked to their babysitter. It didn’t take long: the apartment was tiny.

Mrs. Hawkins was frowning deeply, an unhappy look on her face.

“I’m sorry,” Shawn said before she could say anything. “I’m really, really sorry. It won’t happen again, I swear. I couldn’t get back sooner. It was a slow night, and I didn’t get a lot of tips. I didn’t have enough money to pay you for this week, so I ended up staying until I did.”

Mrs. Hawkins’s lips pursed. She sighed. “Mr. Wyatt—Shawn. I understand your situation—it’s the only reason I’m still here—but you must understand mine, as well. I have a family, too, but I spend up to fifteen hours a day here, looking after two energetic four-year-olds. You don’t pay me enough for that.”

“I’ll find another job,” Shawn said quickly, trying to squash down the panic rising in his chest. “I’ll find a better job and I’ll pay you more.”

She sighed again, shaking her head. “That’s what you said last month, Shawn.” She looked at the girls. “I admire your dedication, but it can’t go on like that. You’re just twenty. You deserve better. They deserve better, too. Why don’t you find them a good family?”

“No,” he said, his voice hard. “They already have a family. They have me.”

“They barely see you. They ask about you all the time. They miss you.”

Shawn looked down at them. Emily and Bee slept curled into each other, their chubby cheeks almost touching.

A lump formed in his throat. “I miss them, too.” He looked at Mrs. Hawkins. “Please. I’ll find a solution. It really won’t happen again.” Fishing his wallet out of his back pocket, he gave her all the money he had. “Here, take this.”

She shook her head but accepted the money. “Think about what I said, Shawn,” she said before taking her purse and leaving.

Shawn locked the door and returned to the bed.

He knelt down beside the bed, rested his chin on the mattress, and stared at the twins.

The dim light made their platinum blond hair seem almost golden. They looked like little angels.

Shawn closed his eyes. God, he was so tired, but sleep was the last thing on his mind. He didn’t need to open the fridge to know they were out of groceries: he knew how long it took them to run out. They would have nothing to eat the day after tomorrow.

Desperation clawed up his throat. Then came resentment and anger.

Shawn shook them off. Being angry with his parents for having numerous debts, dying and leaving them penniless was useless. He couldn’t afford to waste time. He needed money. Now.

But how? He already worked two jobs.

“Shawn?”

Shawn opened his eyes. One of the girls was no longer asleep. A surge of panic coursed through him when he realized he could no longer tell them apart. Was it Emily or Bee?

“Baby?” he croaked out through the lump in his throat.

The little girl sat up slowly, careful not to wake up her sister, and Shawn breathed out. It was Emily: she was more mature and considerate than Bee, who was often a clueless ball of energy.

Emily reached out to him, and Shawn lifted her into his arms. “Hey, princess,” he whispered, kissing her on the temple and breathing in her sweet scent.

“You’re home,” Emily said, wrapping her little hands around his neck. “Missed you.”

“Me, too,” Shawn murmured, stroking her back. I’m sorry. “Did you have fun while I was out?”

Emily nodded. “We played a lot, but the Hawk didn’t let us go outside!”

“Don’t call Mrs. Hawkins that.” Though he had to suppress a smile. “Anything else?”

“A big man came after breakfast. He had a letter for you, but the Hawk didn’t let us touch it.”

“A letter, huh?” Shawn got to his feet, cradling Emily to his chest, and walked to his desk. “Let’s see.”

He picked up the envelope and returned to the bedside lamp. He squinted at it and his stomach dropped when he saw who it was from.

“What is it?” Emily asked.

Shawn opened the envelope, pulled out the piece of paper inside and started to read.

“…unacceptable grades…” “…upon failure of improvement…” “…scholarship will be terminated unless the student achieves…”

The paper dropped from his fingers to the floor and he didn’t notice.

“Shawn? Something bad happened?”

He looked down at Emily’s wide blue eyes and forced out a smile. “No, pumpkin. Everything is fine.” He buried his face in her hair and closed his eyes.
