“Blue eyes, your secret is safe with me.”

Sapphire Jones owns a small jewelry store in town. She is instantly on alert when a tough-looking biker with way too many obvious blades decorating his leather vest saunters in. And that lock of wavy hair that falls over his forehead? It takes all she has inside to keep from brushing it out of the handsome man’s face.

Blade loves the feel of a well-formed piece of steel in his hand. When his MC brothers suggest he could add beauty to the hilt, he can’t resist consulting the woman who smiles and then runs the other way every time they meet.

Can he convince her to take a ride on the wild side?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter

One

Blade backed his bike into a parking spot. With a quick, practiced movement, his boot knocked the kickstand to brace the colossal beast of a cycle he called his own. It was a rumbling testament to his skill of adding special additions to a motorcycle.

He sat there for a moment while he pulled his gloves off and unbuckled his helmet. Blade had seen too many bike accidents to risk messing up his skull. Bikers rarely came back from that type of injury. He stood, swung his leg over the bike, and grabbed a wrapped item from his saddlebag. Dropping his helmet along with his gloves into the storage area, Blade turned toward the bright blue door.

She likes color.

He’d caught a glimpse of a custom-made bolo tie holder at The Hangout last night. Not that Blade had any desire to be a cowboy wearing a string-like necklace. He was only interested in the quality of the workmanship. Steele had suggested he could have kept the guy from nearly fainting by simply asking about the decoration instead of cornering him and lifting the piece up to examine it closely. Who knew that he’d panic and almost strangle himself in his attempt to get away?

When the cowboy had regained his breath, he’d eagerly shared where he’d picked up the bolo tie. Then he’d taken off at high speed. Blade shook his head at the memory. Blade hadn’t even pulled a weapon.

Shrugging, Blade walked forward toward the bright door and pushed it open. A set of bells attached to the inner handle jingled, announcing his presence. He looked around the jewelry store, which showcased unique items in a very attractive way. Earrings, bracelets, and necklaces sparkled from every display, along with jeweled pins, barrettes, and a few things Blade didn’t recognize. Yes, this is the place.

“I’ll be with you in a minute,” a husky female voice called from the back.

“I’ll wait,” he answered. The sound alone intrigued him. What would she look like? Blade had a very specific taste in female companions. Little.

“Not that kind of Little,” he said aloud, spotting a toddler peeking around the door to the backroom.

At the sound of him speaking, the child walked directly toward him. The corners of Blade’s lips curved up at the sight of her pink princess dress with the ruffled skirt, sparkling waistband, and puffed sleeves. She held her hands toward Blade.

“Up!”

“Sorry, kid. I don’t want your mom to get mad at me.”

“Up!” she demanded with a stomp of her foot. When Blade made no move to lean over, the corners of her mouth trembled. Seconds later, a fat tear rolled down her cheek.

“Princess, you should go see your mommy,” he suggested, lowering himself down to one knee.

She shook her head and walked forward to touch Blade’s leather cut. The child patted it like he was a pet before poking one of the shiny snaps running down the front.

“Of course. You’re out in the shop. The last place I would have thought to check,” that husky voice announced.

Blade looked up to see a captivating woman with bright blue hair and a myriad of tattoos. Her skin radiated color in countless patterns and shapes that all combined into an intriguing motif that he instantly wanted to explore closely. The woman’s shape drew his attention as well—curvy, in an understated delectable way. He smiled without meaning to. She was so unique. She was also peeved.

“Kinsley, come here. How did you get out of your playpen? I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”

Kinsley shook her head. She continued to explore Blade’s cut, sliding her fingers over the worn leather. He laughed when she leaned forward to lick him.

“Kinsley. No. You don’t know where that’s been.” She scolded the child and then paused, seemingly realizing how that must sound to Blade.

“No.” The girl’s response was perfectly clear and emphatic. She held on to Blade’s vest and worked very hard to lift one leg to straddle and push herself up to sitting on his bent leg.

Blade steadied her as she wobbled. “Whoa, princess.”

“Tank you,” Kinsley answered and lifted her arms for Blade to hug her close.

To save her from tumbling, he wrapped an arm around her. Standing, he rose with Kinsley happily cuddling his chest. She laid her head on his shoulder and rubbed her cheek against the leather.

“I’m sorry. Kinsley never interacts with anyone but family. I hope she hasn’t bothered you,” the woman said, coming forward. She tried to lift Kinsley out of Blade’s arm, but the toddler slumped back toward his chest, refusing. “No!” He obviously fascinated her.

“She’s no bother. All the girls are attracted to a leather-clad biker.” Blade pointed out.

The woman rolled her eyes. “She’ll go to college, study law, become a lawyer, and put bad bikers in jail.”

“Just as I thought, she won’t be able to stay away from them,” Blade teased. Enjoying this interaction more than he’d have thought possible, he wasn’t in any hurry to go. He studied the woman in front of him. She’d drawn her striking blue hair into a messy bun that made him want to pull each hairpin out one by one. The daydream of her tresses tumbling down was sexy, and he pulled his thoughts back to reality.

One

Something that sounded like a slow hiss caught her attention. Molly turned off her radio and strained to listen. Shoot! That glass she’d driven over appeared to have cut her tire. Wondering if she would be lucky enough to get home before it was too flat, Molly slowed down as she debated how far she could go.

When she heard a thump from the front tire, she knew she needed to stop. Easing over on the side of the highway and stopping under one of the big lights illuminating the pavement, she debated what to do. She could have called one of the elders from the church during the day. They would have helped her but at two in the morning, that wasn’t possible. They’d have too many questions for her she didn’t want to answer. Suddenly, going to that late movie in the town down the road seemed like a bad decision.

“Okay! You’ve got a spare tire and a jack,” Molly told herself. “You can do this.”

She turned to look around her car, checking for traffic. One solitary truck drove past on the other side of the divided highway. Did she want someone to help her? That seemed dangerous on the deserted road in the dark.

After blowing out a deep breath, Molly launched into action. She opened her door and pushed the trunk release on the small hatchback. Racing to the back to get out of the road, she pushed the hatch fully up and leaned inside to push the church bulletins for next Sunday to the side. She pulled up the spare tire cover and stared down at it.

By the time she had it unfastened from its mooring spot, Molly was already doubting her ability to change this tire. “Never give up!” She attempted to rally her positivity.

“Uf!” The heavy tire moved about three inches as she heaved it toward the opening. Maybe she should work on getting the other tire off. That might be the first step. The jack was lighter to pull out of the car anyway.

Referring to the manual, she searched with her fingers looking for the spot it recommended to place the jack. Not able to find it, Molly stretched out on the shoulder, feeling the gritty gravel and who knows what else that had gathered there.

“Aha! There it is! I just needed to see from a better angle.” Her voice sounded really loud in the quiet that surrounded her. “I really need to stop talking to myself.” That sounded even louder, sending a shiver down her spine.

A few minutes of success later, she looked at the tire now suspended off the pavement with satisfaction. She grabbed the tire iron and fitted it onto a lug nut. Giving it a spin, she yelped when it whacked her shin as the tire rotated freely around.

“Okay, that’s just mean. How are you supposed to get the tire unfastened if it’s spinning?”

Back to the manual she went and discovered she’d skipped one important step. Molly had just started trying to lower the jack when she heard the rumble of oncoming motorcycles. She looked across the road hoping they were on the other side. Of course not.

Her hands tightened on the tire iron as the bikes pulled over in front and behind her car. They’re friendly. I’m sure they just look mean.

“Need some help?” a rough voice called as he kicked his stand down and swung his leg over the seat.

“No. No, thank you. I’m figuring it out,” she rushed to assure them as everyone followed his example.

“It doesn’t look like you’ve got it quite mastered yet,” that gruff voice said sarcastically.

Molly backed up slightly to the edge of the shoulder to keep the men advancing from both sides in her view. Her heels teetered on the edge, so she took a baby step forward to maintain her balance. A glance behind her showed a sloping drop off into tangled weeds. She shuddered at the thought of the creepy crawlers hanging out there.

“She’s definitely polite.”

“I like being pleasant. I will warn you that my cheerfulness is almost gone. Perhaps you should just leave.” Tears prickled her eyelids. She was tired, dirty, and scared. Molly had no idea how to change a tire and she really didn’t want to know how. Now, some bikers were here to kill her. Could this day get any worse? She brushed a hand over each eye to wipe away the tears before they could fall and tried to keep her shoulders from sagging in defeat.

“What’s your name?” that gruff voice asked.

A scuff on the gravel made Molly turn to look at him, and she jumped in surprise to see how close he was to her already. He was tall and muscular with tattoos that proclaimed him to be a very bad man. What made her stare was the dead look in his eyes. This man didn’t care about anything.

One

“Horsefeathers!” Elizabeth cursed, losing her balance, and dropping her groceries. Strong hands steadied her, preventing her from tumbling to the ground along with the now bruised apples.

“Whoa. Are you okay?” a deep voice asked, making her look up at her rescuer.

For a split second too long, she stared at the young leather-clad biker standing in front of her, bringing a knowing smile to his face. “You could watch where you’re going,” she blustered, reacting aggressively due to embarrassment.

“I was actually just standing here,” the magnetic biker pointed out. “You dashed through the door like you’d just robbed the place.”

He paused for a moment before leaning closer to ask, “You didn’t, did you?”

“Of course not!” Elizabeth answered, jerking herself out of his stabilizing hold. She squatted to pick up her scattered items, trying to move quickly.

“Let me help you,” the tattooed gentleman offered.

Elizabeth’s face flamed with heat when she automatically noticed the way his battered jeans molded to his thighs. She dragged her eyes away before she could check out everything. I obviously need to get laid.

“That’s interesting. Are you propositioning me?” the man asked with merriment dancing in his gaze.

“Oh, holy duck. I didn’t mean to say that out loud. Sorry. Just hand me that orange and I’ll go hide,” she demanded.

“Has anyone ever told you you’re not very good at cussing?” he asked as he nabbed the last escapee and held it out to her.

Rolling her eyes, Elizabeth snatched the orange and stuffed it back in her bag. “Only my obnoxious husband and I just got rid of him,” she reported as she stood and adjusted her slim skirt back down her thighs.

She pulled herself together and forced herself to be polite. “Thank you for your help. I’m sorry I plowed into you.”

“I’m not,” he answered with a smile. Holding out his hand, he added, “I’m Talon.”

“Of course, you are. And I’m way too old for you.”

“I don’t think that’s your name,” he said. His voice held a new tone.

Commanding and dominant, it captured her attention, making her stop and fully look at him for the first time. Elizabeth swallowed hard at the steel in his gaze.

“Elizabeth,” she admitted.

“That suits you. I’m glad to meet you, Elizabeth.” He still held out his hand.

She stared at it for a second. Something inside told her touching him would change everything. When he didn’t draw his back, Elizabeth slowly placed her hand in his. Warmth, strength, and something she didn’t understand registered deep inside her. In surprise, she looked up at him, meeting his dark eyes.

“I didn’t expect to meet you today, Little girl,” he said softly.

Snatching her hand from his, she ran toward her car. Her heart pounded inside her chest, and she didn’t even want to think about why her panties were damp.

Fluffernutter! What just happened?

“Talon, saddle up. We need to go,” a gruff voice called as she fumbled with the door handle of her car.

She looked back at the magnetic man who’d just rocked her world with one touch. He stood watching her. His entire attention was focused on her. Shivering in reaction, Elizabeth jumped into her car and thrust the grocery sack into the passenger seat. The already bruised fruit bounced to the floorboard.

Starting the car, she risked one last glance. Talon had moved. Elizabeth scanned the area and spotted him just as he lifted a leg over his massive bike. She bit her lip and made herself focus on the parking lot as she backed out and drove away, hearing the roar of powerful motors firing to life behind her.

“Don’t let them be going my way. Don’t let them be going my way. Don’t let them be going my way,” she chanted as she turned to the left.

Elizabeth divided her attention between the road in front and behind her. To her relief, the powerful throb of the motors faded into the background. They’d turned to the right.

Slumping in her seat, she drove away, making herself focus on the road as she navigated her way toward her new apartment. Her lawyer had assured her she would be awarded the house if she chose to ask for it. A flash of her ex in bed with the floozy next door appeared in her head.

“Nope. I couldn’t ever stay in that house again,” she announced to the tattered bag of groceries. The oranges seemed to understand where she was coming from at least while the apples just pouted at the treatment they’d experienced.

A memory of the thin woman who didn’t even attempt to cover her nakedness flashed into her head, making Elizabeth instantly sick—mentally and physically. To distract herself, Elizabeth joked, “Come on. She would have juiced you apples for sure.” They still did not choose to respond.

“This is my life now. Holding a conversation with fruit.”

Flipping on the radio, Elizabeth distracted herself with the local news report. There were so many people out there dealing with much greater problems than she had. Shaking her head, she told herself to get over it. Thank goodness she hadn’t wasted another ten years on that jerk.
“Little girl, I’m only going to ask one more time…” Things have not been going Ivy Jenkins' way recently–well, until Steele Mattson rescues her. Being thrown away like garbage does a job on a woman’s self-confidence and bravery. Add in scrambled memories from a head injury and Ivy knows she qualifies as a hot mess, even if she is the bank branch manager. Steele’s father established the Shadowridge Guardians MC. He’s as dedicated to protecting the good citizens of his city as he is to creating the perfect weld on an old-school chopper, and he doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty to take care of problems. When he finds the petite woman in a very bad situation, he dives in to help. What he doesn’t expect is to discover the rescued treasure is his. He’ll stop at nothing to hunt down those who endangered her and make them pay. Combining the sizzling talents of bestselling authors Pepper North, Kate Oliver, and Becca Jameson, the Shadowridge Guardians are guaranteed to give you a thrill and leave you dreaming of your own throbbing motorcycle joyride. Are you daring enough to ride with a club of rough, growly, commanding men? The protective Daddies of the Shadowridge Guardians Motorcycle Club will stop at nothing to ensure the safety and protection of everything that belongs to their Littles, their club, and their town. Throw in some sassy, naughty, mischievous women who won't hesitate to serve their fair share of attitude even in the face of looming danger, and this brand new MC Romance series is ready to ignite!

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER

ONE

Cursing her desire to finish the last details on her clandestine report, Ivy carefully stowed the printed page in the desk and grabbed her purse and coat to leave. She was still trying to prove to the bank president that he hadn’t made a mistake in hiring a twenty-eight-year-old as the bank manager. The interior of the building was eerily quiet with only a few lights on inside as she walked to the back door. Cautiously, she looked out the security peephole before dashing outside and pushing the door closed behind her.

They were on her before she stepped forward. Two, maybe three men slammed her against the bricks before grabbing her arms behind her back. A scream burst from her lips and echoed against the surrounding buildings. One powerful hand held her head restrained from looking at them with a painful yank on her ponytail.

Tears burst into her eyes, and Ivy tried to blink them away. “You’re on security cam. I don’t know what you mean to do, but facial recognition will have you identified in a flash. Let me go and I won’t say a thing.”

“Right…” One deep voice drew out that word sarcastically.

Damn, that didn’t work. Would her scream bring anyone? She could hear faint wisps of music from The Hangout, about three blocks away.

“You’re going to tell us the bank codes to get in and then you’ll walk us inside to collect access to a few accounts for us,” another voice informed her with clipped military precision.

“The bank is on a time lock. Once the last person leaves, it won’t open until tomorrow morning when the bank opens,” she told them quickly, making up an excuse to keep them from forcing her back into bank.

“And I’m sure, Ms. Bank Manager, you have the skills to override that.”

“I don’t. I’m just the manager. I do the paperwork. The bank president can do that, but not me,” she rushed to correct them.

“Tell us the door code and we’ll just wander around inside to see what we find,” the first voice instructed.

“I can’t do that. I’ll lose my job,” she protested. The yank to her hair informed her they didn’t care. “Besides, I just changed the code. I don’t remember it.”

Another vicious jerk on her ponytail brought more tears to her eyes. “I think it’s time to teach this bitch a lesson. We have just become your worst nightmare. You’re going to work for us, Ms. Bank Manager, from now on. That is, if you survive this lesson of what we’re capable of.”

Strong hands jerked her wrists harder behind her and tied them tightly with a rope. She bit her lip as the rough fibers bit into her skin. A ripping sound came from behind her, and a large hand reached in front of her to slap a piece of duct tape over her mouth. Her heart felt like it would beat out of her chest.

She panicked as rough fabric draped over her face. Thrashing her body from side to side, Ivy felt her hair tearing from her scalp. Scared beyond thought, she wet herself.

“Get her legs tied.”

They lifted Ivy effortlessly, flipping her horizontally and lowering her to the cement. She landed with a thud, and the air flooded out of her nostrils when they dropped her several inches. While she recovered her breath, they stripped her shoes off and bound her feet close to her hands.

“Pissed all over herself,” one guy said, sounding divided between pride and disdain as he finished pulling the bag around her body.

When it pulled together below her knees, Ivy knew they’d knotted the burlap around her. She prayed as they lifted her and dropped her into the back of a vehicle with a thud. The door slamming down felt like her coffin closing.

Pushing back his chair, Steele rose to his feet. “I’m headed back to the compound. Anyone else ready to leave?”

Just as he thought, his MC brothers refused his invitation to ride back together. They were having way too much fun at The Hangout, Shadowridge’s local roadhouse. The establishment was always good for a round of drinks when they showed up. Having the motorcycle club roll up added an edgy feel to the place that made everyone thirsty.

And the twenty-somethings? They loved flirting with the guys they considered the ultimate bad boys in town.

Steele shook his head at the girls already ensconced on a few laps. No wonder no one was ready to go.

“Hey. You’re not leaving, are you?” a cute blonde asked, daringly tracing the black tattoo on his forearm.

“Yes.”

“You… You could stay for a while. Maybe dance with me?” She stuttered at first but gained confidence as she spoke.

“Not this time.”

Turning, he heard Talon call, “I’m a much better dancer, baby,” to tempt the blonde to change her target.

Without changing his trajectory, Steele flipped the smartass off and exited with the laughter of his motorcycle brethren following him out. He headed around the side of the building to where they had reserved parking. The raucous music from The Hangout wasn’t quite as loud back here.
