OBSESSION TAKES NO PRISONERS
A soldier searching for redemption.
A man addicted to control.
And the woman caught between them…

Ean Shephard knows trouble when he sees it and Olive Creed is the kind of trouble that can burn his whole world down. As Collin Creed’s baby sister, she’s completely off-limits. But her quiet strength, combined with her sad vulnerability, keeps pulling him closer. Shep came to Edge Security to escape his past, but falling for Olive could ruin his second chance and the fragile peace he’s fought so hard to find.

Brose Sinclair has always played the long game. He and Olive are more than just partners inside the shadow organization they both work for, they’re lovers. His absolute authority keeps her on track and Olive likes it that way. But her sudden attraction to their target threatens everything they’ve worked for and for the first time, Brose finds himself questioning whether control is enough to keep Olive by his side.

Olive Creed has spent her life learning to play her role perfectly. She can’t afford to mess up. Not with Brose watching her every move, looking for mistakes. Mistakes she sometimes makes on purpose just to spur on his titillating punishment. But as she starts to fall for her target and her world begins to crumble beneath her feet, Olive finds herself wondering—which one of these two men would truly be there in her darkest hour?

Brose—the one who owns her mind?

Or Shep—the one who wants her heart?

The Danger in the Damaged is a battlefield of betrayal and control, where loyalty is a weapon and obsession takes no prisoners. It’s a best-friend’s-little-sister romance caught in the crossfire of dark secrets and mind games—and this time, Collin Creed isn’t the one calling the shots.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1 - Olive

Ambrose Sinclair stares down at me with an intensity that would’ve frightened the Olive of yesterday. His eyes are locked with mine. Dark green. Flashing. A window to the soul or a curtain drawn to conceal the shadows?

I’ve often wondered.

His face is the kind of symmetrical that people like. Square jaw framed in stubble that has been groomed to perfection and hair just a bit too long to be considered professional—tousled and with a slight curl, so it comes off as unruly.

Unruly is a good way to describe Brose. I suspect people who don’t know him might mistake this unruliness as rebellion, but I don’t.

It’s just his wild side.

Which is my favorite side of Mr. Sinclair here.

“Who are you?” His words come out with authority and conviction.

“A badass,” I reply.

It’s not the right answer, but he smiles. Even chuckles a little. “Of course, you’re a badass. I’m looking for the literal answer.”

“Olive Creed.”

“And what does Olive Creed do?” His thumb strokes my cheek as eyes dance with the invitation for mischief that I just handed him.

But this time I give what he asked for instead of what he wants. Which is a serious conversation. “Olive Creed is the consummate professional. She’s the protagonist in her own story. A hero in her own adventure.” This was not the scripted answer, but Brose is happy with my improvisation because that curtain covering the soul beyond his eyes opens a little and I get a tiny peek of the man inside.

That’s the one I work with.

The one I sleep with.

The one I love.

Picking up my ‘story theme’, Brose continues to prep me for the meeting. “Prologue…”

“Olive Creed is a sad little girl. Age eight. Brother leaves for the marines. Father goes crazy about it. Mother starts drinking.”

He makes a pouty frown at me. “I hate that past you’re dragging around.”

“Me too. But Chapter one turns it all around.”

“So this isn’t a story about sad little Olive Creed?”

“Not in the least. This is the story of powerful, grown-up Olive Creed who is ready to take on the world.”

His smile is big now. And he takes a few moments to stare at me. “You’re really beautiful, you know that?”

I do. I suppose. I’ve looked in the mirror and I’ve got all the components of a beautiful woman. Thin, but not in a weak and wispy way. Long blonde hair that has a bit of wave to it, hazel eyes, though they lean gray mostly, and an attractive face that gives off a ‘Clean Girl’ vibe.

“You’re gonna knock them dead with those looks,” Brose continues. “Play it up.”

Play it up. I nod. “You got it.”

The only thing on my mind as I enter the conference room and take my seat at the table is main-character energy. I lean sideways into my chair to artfully display my short skirt and long legs, and tip my chin up to look around.

Every man stops talking to watch. It’s one second of silence, and then all the conversations resume, but it’s a very satisfying one second. Mostly because it’s probably the most focused attention I’ll get from them all day. In a few minutes, the meeting will start and then everything will be about the other me. Not the one sitting here in real life, but the one on paper.

Not that I care that they won’t see me. Today is the beginning of everything. A new life. A step forward. A bit of freedom.

“All right, everyone, take your seats and let’s get started.” If I came into the room with main-character energy, Brose enters with the big-dick variety. His eyes are locked on mine when he slaps a two-inch-thick file down in front of his chair at the head of the table, and then he gives me an almost imperceptible wink.

But I catch it. And since I know what that wink means, a tingling sensation begins to build between my legs.

At twenty-seven, he’s the youngest man in this room. But he’s also the one who called this meeting so all the others quiet down and take their places without comment. A few moments later, the lights go out and a short film plays.

Three minutes. The last twelve years of my life play out in a three-minute summary. Six bullet points, seventeen photos, one thirty-second clip of my skills, and a short monologue—voiced over by me, of course—to sum it all up. “I’m ready,” the young woman on the screen insists. “I’ve been trained by the best and I have proven myself to be meticulous, hardworking, and loyal. Thank you for your time.”

The lights come on, the men murmur for a few moments, and then Brose asserts his dominance by clearing his throat and diving straight into his carefully planned presentation. “Gentlemen.” Brose pans a hand towards me. “Meet Olive Creed, SIO 2.0.”
Clover Bradley was having the worst day of her life and then she got kidnapped . In her own home. Well, her empty and currently being renovated childhood home on the edge of Disciple, West Virginia and not her former cozy cottage on the grounds of the Dixie Yonder Hotel where she was working and thriving until that very morning. But it still counts and definitely makes her very bad day much worse.

But that’s not even the crazy part. The crazy part is that she’s falling for her kidnapper. A handsome man, if a little morally challenged, who is probably very dangerous and has threatened to kill her half a dozen times over the span of just one day, but what can one do? The attraction is there.

Riggs is just trying his best to stay out of prison. Which seems at odds with his current actions, but need-to-know nuances make all these nonsensical pieces fit. And even though Clover isn’t a model captive—she’s a complainer of the princess variety—he finds himself getting attached. If he hadn’t been forced to kidnap her to save his own hide, he could see a future where the two of them end up together.

So he figures… why not save her life by endangering her some more?

And she figures… well, it’s better than being left to rot in her own basement.

And that’s, of course, when things get interesting.

The Comfort in the Brave is an ironic twist of fate inbred to a really bad decision. It’s a captive romance turned ride-or-die in a crazy escape from Blackberry Hill—but this time Collin Creed isn’t coming to save anyone, he’s looking for revenge.

TROPES
Falling for the Enemy
Ride or Die
Haughty Princess
Redemptive Anti-Hero
Morally Grey
Found Family

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER 1 - CLOVER

Ienter the Dixie Yonder bright and early Monday morning, ready for what’s next after an exhilarating weekend of perfectly-planned wedding events. Nearly the moment I enter the hotel my boss, Clarissa, is calling out my name from across the expansive lobby as she strides towards me. “Great job, Clover! That wedding yesterday—fan. Tastic! Went off without a hitch.” She’s reached me now and Clarissa is a toucher, so her hand claps down on my shoulder and gives it a squeeze and her big brown eyes sparkle with excitement. “Wedding season is just about over and I know how much you love summers because they’re so busy, but don’t worry, girl, we’ve got parties booked every weekend through December.”

“Wonderful!” I tell her, flashing back a smile as big as her own. Because I can find the joy in any season, really. Even ones that don’t typically come with weddings. “You’re right,” I tell her, “wedding season is my favorite, but party season is like a Christmas star, shining in the sky!”

“And with you planning the parties, they’ll sparkle in the darkness like fireflies in the night.” Then she leans in to me, lowering her voice. “Mr. Sutter has asked to see you in private as soon as you have time. And if you ask me”—she pauses here to flash a huge, all-teeth smile—“I think you’re getting a promotion.” She practically sings out that last word.

“What?” I say, feigning surprise. “Really?” I’ve been working at the Dixie Yonder Hotel for nearly seven years now. I didn’t start in weddings—I was Clarissa’s Girl Friday for three and a half of those years making a pretty meager salary. But she and I clicked immediately and she’s been pushing me up the ladder of high-society event planning ever since. So, I’ve kinda been expecting this.

“Well”—Clarissa removes her hand from my shoulder—“I don’t know for sure, but why else would Sutter call you in? And yesterday’s wedding—oh, my God.” She puts a hand over her heart. “It’s being featured in Vanity Fair, you know that, right?”

“I do.” And boy, was I nervous about that. My name will be mentioned for sure. And while it’s an honor, it’s also a lot of pressure. These elite people we cater to can be a bit obnoxious at times, but I aim to please and when my Dixie Yonder clients come to me with a request, I get the job done.

I hold up my hand and cross my fingers. “Here’s to my promotion. But… what about you? I mean, your job is the only one I’m qualified to do.”

“Oh, sweetie, I got my promotion this morning.”

“What!” I jump up and down a little. “Holy crap! You finally got promoted to general manager?”

“Yep!” She shrugs up her shoulders real big. “Finally. But not here.”

“Whaaaaaat?” This word comes out as a whine. “Not here? You can’t leave me!”

“I’ve been promoted to general manager of the Wicked Scrod in Boston.”

“Boston?” My smile falls. “Boston?” I’m so shocked, I say it again. Like maybe I just heard her wrong. “You can’t go to Boston.”

“Ooooooh, you’re so sweet, Clover. I know we’ve been a great team, and I seriously owe you everything. Without your support I would never have gotten this far. But you’re gonna be just fine, I know it. You’re gonna nail this.”
Rosie Harlow is desperately seeking… well, she’s not sure. A romance would be nice but so would a dinner conversation with her pre-teen son. Too bad her boy is way too busy growing up to pay his mama any attention. Rosie never meant to swear off men and she’s not frigid—you don’t become a single mom at fifteen by being frigid—but this dry spell of hers has gotten out of hand and something must be done.
Enter Amon Parrish. Back in high school Amon was voted most likely to get caught with his pants down. He was a trouble maker. The quintessential bad boy. But twelve years away from home, traveling the world and working with Collin Creed doing super-secret (and somewhat illegal) things, changed all that. These days Amon Parrish is a brand-new, stand-up man.
And, to Rosie’s surprise, a romantic man as well. Because he has decided to court her. And this is not just any ordinary courting, either. It’s… well, a page ripped right out of a bodice ripper.

But everyone in Disciple, West Virginia has a secret in their past.
Even the cheerful, perpetually optimistic, and seemingly innocent, Rosie Harlow.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Rosie Harlow is desperately seeking… well, she’s not sure.
Even the cheerful, perpetually optimistic, and seemingly innocent, Rosie Harlow.

The Echo on the Water is a swooning plate of small-town fiction served up with a side of spice. It honors the themes of friends to lovers, found family, and is filled with bigger-than-life, morally-grey characters against a backdrop of the weird and wonderful.

Every now and then, ever since Collin and I came home to West Virginia, out of the damn blue, I’ll get a weird sense of longin’ in my chest. Like an ache, but not a sad one. Like an emptiness, but not a black one. It’s more like an itch ya can’t scratch or a craving ya can’t satisfy.

Standing here in the Bishop butcher shop as I wait on my soup bones, I get that feeling.

Which is weird because I’m really fuckin’ satisfied. Like completely fuckin’ satisfied. I love being home. And every day, as I drive through Trinity County doin’ my business, there is this feeling of belonging. An arrival, of sorts.

Even countin’ the little scuffle up on the mountain at Blackberry Hill, this return trip home has been easy and sweet.

Haven’t gotten laid yet, which, not gonna lie, kinda sucks. But I’ve gotten more than my share of women all over the world for the past twelve years. I’m playin’ it careful now. Taking my time. Choosing wisely, as they say. Because when one enters Trinity County, West Virginia, one does not just start humping girls left and right like they’re water and you just arrived at an oasis after a hundred-mile trek through the fuckin’ Sahara desert, dying of thirst.

Especially if one wants a Disciple girl. And I kinda do.

Don’t get me wrong. I have pictured myself up in a hayloft dressed in traditional, handmade farmboy attire taking a frilly-dressed girl from behind plenty of times. That was definitely my go-to dream scenario when I was fifteen. And there ain’t nothin’ wrong with a stripper from Revenant in my book.

But a Disciple girl? Yeah. They’re different. They’re kinda like a combination of Bishop and Revenant. Playing all traditional on the weekends for the Revival shows, but then bein’ all rough-edgy during the week as they just go about their lives.

I like it.

“All right, Amon. Here ya go. Two hundred pounds of soup bones.” Johnny Boy Butcher, who is the literal butcher of Bishop, West Virginia, and hasn’t been a boy for about fifty years now, pulls my cart piled high with wooden crates out from behind his butcher-shop countertop and lets it come to rest at my feet.

This makes me smile. Not just because Johnny Boy is keeping my entire kennel of super-smart, military-style protection dogs in soup bones, but because the wooden crates are just such a nice touch. It’s so fuckin’ old-timey, I can’t stand it.

I could leave Trinity County and find myself a butcher who would wrap my soup bones in plastic instead of white paper and I’d probably pay a whole lot less for the exact same amount of chewing time, but it just wouldn’t be the same.

“Thanks, Johnny Boy. I’ll see ya next week.”

He tips an imaginary hat at me and turns his attention to the next customer in line. I pull my cart over to the door, where a man wearing vintage-looking overalls is already holding it open to make my life easier, and then I leave the butcher shop with a nod and a ‘thank you’ for the kindness.

I love that about Bishop. How nice and friendly the people are. I mean, this is the downtown historical district and it’s literally the townspeople’s job to be pleasant and accommodating. But acting aside, it still works. It still makes me feel appreciated. Like I matter, even to strangers.

Trust me when I say this, it’s a rare thing to be welcomed by strangers when you’re the actual stranger. Especially when you’re traveling the world as black ops military, as I was. I grew used to the indifference, as well as the hostility. Almost forgot what it was like to be somewhere I belonged. But it hit me quick when we came home to West Virginia. And now, knowing what I do of the wider world, I would never leave this place again, not even if someone offered me millions of dollars.
Collin Creed is a killer. But he's Lowyn's killer. And after a twelve-year separation, she wants him back.

Deep in the hills of West Virginia, three small towns have found a way to flourish in the face of extreme poverty. Disciple runs a side-show tent revival that brings in millions of dollars a year. Bishop flaunts traditional ways in the vein of Colonial Williamsburg, luring weary city people to the slow-living lifestyle. And Revenant offers them an experience of sin filled with tattooed bikers and live-music dive bars.

It’s a sacred trinity that worships the almighty dollar and everyone plays their role like a well-trained Broadway actor.

But these hills have secrets, and so do the people.

Twelve years ago, when he was just eighteen and dreaming of a future with his high school sweetheart, Collin Creed learned something about himself. Something so disturbing he left Disciple to join the Marines and didn’t once look back. But all that came to a screeching halt with the congressional hearings, forcing Collin to return home and rebuild his black-ops empire brick by brick.

Lowyn McBride’s heart broke when Collin shut her out and left town without an explanation just as they were getting ready to start their adult lives together. The death of her mother the following year was a make-or-break moment and Lowyn rose to the occasion, giving up her university education to parent her younger sister while building an empire of her own as a specialty antiques dealer.

Anger and desire, guilt and shame—the return of the enigmatic Collin Creed ignites the town and sparks an explosion of emotions inside Lowyn. But he’s not the only one with a secret in his past.

Lowyn has always played the good girl to Collin’s bad-boy reputation. But it turns out—she’s just like everyone else up in these hills—not as wholesome and pure as she looks.

The Rumble and the Glory is a cinematic and spicy small-town secret, second-chance romance wrapped up in a cloak of mystery and suspense. It honors the themes of found family, redemptive anti-hero, and is filled with bigger-than-life, morally-grey characters against a backdrop of deceit and deception.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Collin Creed is a killer.
My head is poundin’ as I lie in bed for just one more second. My eyes are crusted over and opening them up is gonna be a process. So I just stay still, letting my mind remain blank for a few more seconds. Maybe I’ll even fall back asleep.

It’s not like I have to work today. For me, this day right here is a holiday. A sacred day.

Well, maybe sacred is a tick too far, but at the very least the Day After is always a quiet day for me. A time to reflect on my mama and how much I miss her.
