Dix raises his shot glass high in the air, a wide, shit-eating grin on his face. “To a long and slow and painful as fuck death. I can’t think of a more worthy man!”

For Dix, this is beyond personal. His wife Valentina is—or was—Rojas’s daughter, and they couldn’t rest until today. Until we got word that Arturo Rojas, our nemesis and head of the cartel, had taken his last breath.

“Fuck, yeah!” Banger, fully healed and hungry for revenge, is celebrating like there’s no tomorrow. He tosses his head back, his toothy grin visible from goddamn space he’s so loopy with glee.

There’s been no sign of the Bloodthirsty Devils or the Latin Mafia in weeks, but with the death of Arturo Rojas, they’ll make their presence known soon enough. I’m sure of that.

Ace steps into the middle of the party with a double-shot glass high in the air. “Officially, the old man died of a heart attack, but a slow poisoning sent him to the prison infirmary where he—unfortunately—succumbed to a lethal dose of potassium chloride that stopped his heart.” Ace flashes a wide grin, proud of the intricate plan that took out our biggest enemy. “Let us all drink to the life—”

“—and the death!” Dix calls out with a laugh.

“Of Arturo Rojas!” Ace lowers the shot glass and knocks it back with a smile, his gaze landing on the one woman who might feel something other than joy during our celebration. “Valentina, any words?”

With one arm slung over Dix’s broad shoulders, the former cartel princess smiles. “To my papi, may you rot in hell for all of eternity.”

She turns to Dix with a smile, whispering something softly that makes him smile in return.

“Fuck,” I growl as everyone takes a shot to celebrate the not-so-tragic death of our biggest enemy, or one of them anyway. Everyone is celebrating, and it feels like I’m the only one still worried about what comes next. Sure, Arturo is dead, but his cartel isn’t completely demolished. Have they forgotten we’ve added two more enemies to the mix. And now, their silence worries me more than anything.

“Hiya, Diesel. Feel like some company?” Layla is one of the newest club whores, as eager as she is gorgeous. She uses her bright red hair and pale blue eyes to advantage, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s built like a brick shithouse. Best of all? She’s always down for a quick fuck. Even better, she likes it hard and fast. Always.

With worries about the aftermath of Roja’s death on my mind, I’m not in the mood right now. But when Layla grabs my cock through my jeans, he stands up to make his opinion known. No matter what I think I want, he’s in the mood for something tight and wet, which describes Layla to a fucking tee.

It’s a good fucking thing he’s in charge right now because I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with me. This is exactly what I do. I fuck girls and fix cars, with a hell of a lot of partying in between. I chalk up my ambivalence to stress and flash a smile at Layla. “Maybe?”

She laughs deep and throaty sounds like she lives on cigarettes, whiskey, and deepthroating.

“Just maybe? I’m sure I can push that maybe to a fuck, yeah.” She squeezes my cock again, pressing her perfect tits against my chest.

My cock responds, standing stiff and tall. But something holds me back, and I fucking hate it. Maybe this is what growing up feels like. Fuck that, I tell myself. I reject that notion flat out. If I wanted that shit, I’d have a miserable nine-to-five job where I daydream about killing my boss instead of the life I have as a bad-ass biker who gets to tinker with engines all day.

“You can try,” I tell Layla in a teasing voice because no matter what the fuck else is going on, I’m getting my dick wet. Period.

“Oh, I’ll do more than try, big guy,” she purrs. Her whole body presses against mine, and she nips my ear and squeezes my cock again, applying a bit more pressure, just how I like it. “Let me show you.”

“Yeah, sure,” I drawl, finishing off another shot along with my beer before she grabs my hand and leads me to an empty room inside the clubhouse.

As soon as we’re alone, Layla pushes me against the nearest wall and drops to her knees, where she makes quick work of my jeans and boxer briefs, tugging them halfway down my legs while she uses one hand to stroke my cock and the other to cup my balls.

“You’re already hard. Throbbing,” she whispers before sliding her tongue along the head of my cock.

“What the fuck is it supposed to do? I’ve got a big-tittied woman with her lips around my dick,” I say, trying to make a joke of it. But my head falls back and one hand threads through her red hair as she takes me all the way to the back of her throat. “Ah, fuck,” I moan, releasing myself into the pleasure of her mouth.
The club’s in hot water, and my girl is right in the thick of it. Since I landed in jail, danger has been creeping closer to home. And in the midst of this mess, I find out her secret.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER ONE

Sophie – 1 month ago

“How are we doing tonight, Joaquin?”

I don’t know if he can hear me, but I ask the same question each night, after Nova leaves the clinic for the evening, putting me in charge of his friend. He’s too young and vital to be lying here motionless. When he came in, he was on the brink of death, but now he’s stabilizing. And that’s a good sign.

For now.

I tell him, “The guys were here earlier to see you. I think they miss you like crazy.” I like to talk to him as I clean and re-bandage his wounds. “I’m sure they can’t wait until you open those eyes and get out of here.”

I only know the bikers of the Reckless Souls MC by name. Well, except for the three that stand guard over Joaquin. And Dr. Nova. But when Ace, Dix, or the others are here, I mostly keep to myself.

The door opens behind me, and I don’t have to turn around to know it’s Tank. Sure, it could be Olly or Stone, who have also been on night duty with me, but I know it’s Tank. The air is different when he’s around. It’s charged, electric, like a live wire caught in a windstorm. Dangerous and thrilling. “You know he’s not gonna answer you?”

I smile at the sound of Tank’s deep, gravelly voice. When I’ve secured the last bandage, I close my eyes and let his deep chuckle wash over me, succumbing to the goosebumps that rise up every time Tank’s near. “He won’t answer until he does,” I shoot back, aiming a playful grin his way.

“Fair point,” he concedes, sitting in the chair beside Banger’s bed. “How’s he doing?”

“Better,” I sigh as I gather the old bandages and shove them in the orange box fixed to the wall. “His body is healing and getting stronger, but the fact that he’s not awake yet is alarming.”

I look up and watch Tank as he watches his friend. Worry darkens his face, and I resist the urge to go to him, to lay a comforting hand on his broad shoulders.

Broad shoulders I’d love to squeeze.

There’s an underlying attraction zipping between us that I can’t deny. A little bit of flirtation here and there, but nothing more. It’s pure lust. “Alarming like he might still die?”

“No. But there’s a reason he isn’t waking up. Nova thinks he’s out of the woods, so now we just need him to wake up.” I wash my hands and dry them before sitting beside Banger’s bed. He’s like our unconscious chaperone.

Tank’s gray eyes leave his friend and settle on me. Those captivating eyes are like magnets, pulling me in and making me want to see them up close. Are there pale flecks of silver or gold in there? Or are there ribbons of brown floating in the gray depths?

“You look really fucking fine today, Sophie.”

I’m thirty-four years old, yet that gruff compliment has me blushing all the way down to my toes.

There’s something about Tank—a softness combined with his big, well-muscled physique that’s very appealing.

He looks rough and gruff, but then he says something like ‘really fucking fine,’ and I blush like a schoolgirl. I can’t explain my attraction to him, and honestly, I don’t want to.

I think.

Then again, did I work my ass off to get involved with a biker?

I know what the Reckless Souls do, and they pay me very well, but is this what I want for my life?

Tank’s deep laugh pulls me from my thoughts, and I realize he’s still watching me, those gray eyes raking over my body like a lover’s hand, slow and tantalizing. “I’d love to know what’s going on in that pretty head of yours right now.”

I could tell him the truth, but his flirty tone is irresistible. “I was just wondering about you, Tank. Why did you become a biker?”

Interest flares in his eyes, and he leans forward, giving me his full attention. “You want the long version or the short one?”

Long, please. “I got time.”

He licks his full pink lips, and my breath hitches. My nipples tighten as I imagine all the things he could do with that tongue. “The short answer is that I met Dix in the joint.”

My eyebrows raise. “The joint?”

He nods. “Yeah, I was locked up for a couple of years.” He says the words and lets them linger in the air, almost as if he’s waiting for me to get up and march away. “You not gonna ask me why?”

“Okay, I’ll bite. Why?” In my line of work, I’ve treated people from all backgrounds—rich, poor, and everything in between. Everyone has a story about how they ended up where they are. And right now, I’m really interested in Tank’s story.

“I got into a fight with an asshole who knocked up my sister and then beat the shit out of her when she refused to get rid of the baby.” He speaks matter-of-factly, but there’s a thread of anger in his words.

Demon sits proudly behind the steering wheel with that devilish grin of his. “We’re getting these fuckers right now.” His confidence seeps through every word.

“What fuckers?” I don’t need to ask. I know the answer. I just need to hear him say it.

“Those Reckless Souls pendejos. Think they can snatch my boy from me? Fuck that. Viper was mine first.”

I’d do anything for Demon, but this is some bad shit. He’s still reeling over Viper’s betrayal. His anger masked a deep hurt, too damn proud to admit it.

“You sure about this, Demon? It’s been years since your boy crossed over.”

His smile twists into a scowl, pissed at my doubt. “What? You think I can’t handle them?”

“Course you can, Papi. You’re a beast when you want to be. But it’s just you and me. We’re outnumbered.”

He grin’s back. “Ain’t just you and me, Mami. Howler and Malibu been keeping tabs on ‘em. We know where they’re at. Gordo’s rollin’ with them too.”

Damn it. No way out now. “Oh. What’s the plan?”

He parks the shiny red Impala in a half-finished housing development. Gives me the look. “We walk in, beat the fuck outta him, and his bitch, then two bullets each. Cool with that?”

I shrug. “Yeah, sure. Of course.”

We hook up with Malibu and Howler. Moving toward one of the empty show homes. That moron Howler bangs on the window, flashing his piece like he’s in some action movie.

Two shots pop off. Howler crumples to the ground.

Demon roars, “Motherfucker!” charging forward, gun leading the way. Bullets start raining down, and I freeze like a damn rookie.

Then Viper steps out. He’s different, looks older, handsome in his leather vest with the patches. He don’t look like the young gangbanger I remember. He’s filled out. Matured.

A shot narrowly misses him. He shoots back, landing three shots in Malibu.

“What the fuck, Maggie?” Gordo bolts past me, his forty caliber in his grip.

I snap out of it, charging into the fray. It’s expected. It’s what I gotta do. Then my ankle gives way, sending me sprawling to the ground, screaming as I tumble into a ditch. “Demon!” I cry out.

More shots go off. By the time I scrambled out of the ditch, Demon’s lying dead on the grass, Viper’s sprawled on the cement steps, and Gordo’s shoving a screaming blonde into our ride like she’s a rag doll.

A week later and the rain pounding the warehouse echoes my fucked-up feelings. Demon’s pushing up daisies. My own damn crew, the Bloodthirsty Devils, they want me dead.

I’m lower than low, even worse off than when Moms kicked me out. Got no dinero in my pocket. No food and no homies got my back.

Cold seeps into my bones ‘cause Southern California decided to pull a fast one and rain non-stop for days. Now I’m on the side of town with the other forgotten people, those no one gives a fuck about, like me the rest of the world has written off, thinks they’re dead, or wish they were.

I shiver uncontrollably and pull my jacket around me tight like it will help fight off the cold. I’m so stupid to think I could just roll back into the barrio, back to what I thought was mi familia. Instead, they say I iced Demon, that I played both sides.

Fuck that.

I’d never do a damn thing to hurt Demon.

Fucking Ghost. That two-faced snake. For years he was Demon’s right-hand man, and now he can’t wait until the body is cold before calling himself El Jefe. His first order of business? Greenlighting me.

I look around the dark warehouse feeling like a pathetic, weak bitch, something I vowed I’d never feel again. And yet, here I am. Scared. Emotional. Alone.

It’s been raining for three days straight. It hardly ever rains in California, but this year is different. And that’s about how many days of hunger it takes before I start digging into dumpsters for food. At first, I only searched for shit that was still wrapped up, uneaten.

By day five, my standards have hit rock bottom. I’ll take anything edible, not rotten or covered with dirty diapers or cigarette butts. The cash in my pocket isn’t for food. It’s for survival. I need to work out a plan, but I can’t do shit until my old crew gets sick of chasing me and starts gunning for the bikers whose bullets actually ended Demon’s life.

“Shit, Demon,” I hiss into the darkness. We were a team, two peas in a pod. This warehouse was the backdrop of our first time doin’ the dirty. I think I was fifteen, maybe sixteen. I thought it all meant something. But I guess that doesn’t matter now. He’s gone.

Anger flares in my chest. “Goddammit, Demon! Why? Why did you have to die?” I break down in tears, sobbing over the loss. My best friend, my man. My life.
I traded war zones for open roads.
Never imagined I’d be stuck babysitting a sweet spinner like Aria, sheltered in her gilded prison.
As the pressure builds in this pink hellhole, Aria keeps testing me, tempting me. Her captivating allure, her fearless defiance—it makes me want her.
But I have a job to do and refuse to be just another conquest.
Everything takes a dark turn when we find the buried secrets of her old man—secrets darker and deeper than the FBI. Aria is in more danger than we thought.
With each revelation, our bond grows stronger, forged in the flames of this godforsaken inferno. Now, the feds are closing in and Aria desperately needs my help.
Caught between the dangerous world of the club and this mission, I’m torn between diving in headfirst or pulling away completely.
One thing’s for sure, Aria may see me as a beast, but I won’t give up until I make this beauty mine.

Love filthy talking bikers who can drop your panties with just a whisper? You got it! Lucky continues the story of the hottest biker series today with the 8th installment of the Reckless Souls MC!

Don't miss out! Pre-order today!

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER ONE

Lucky

I am so damn tired of looking after Aria Morgan, or as I call her, The Princess. Yeah, sure, she’s hot as fuck, but I’m a patched member of the Reckless Souls MC. Yeah, that’s right. I’m patched now, so how come I’m still babysitting her spoiled ass? Okay, it’s a very fucking fine ass that I wouldn’t mind spanking.

Or fucking.

But it’s so annoying that I have to be at her side twenty-four-fucking-seven.

Aria rocks pink every single day and stuffs her annoying little dog—a boy dog named Coco, like Chanel—in a matching pink tote. And yes, carries him like arm candy everywhere she goes. But that’s not the worst part.

You’d think a whole cotton candy factory exploded in her bedroom. To be honest, I could probably handle her fixation on pink if Aria herself wasn’t so damn annoying.

And no matter how much she gets under my skin, she also seems to possess some kind of magical power over my libido.

It’s impossible not to gawk at her when she prances around in her skimpy pink skirts, revealing miles of perfectly tanned legs. She keeps them toned with her early morning yoga sessions, contorting herself into flexible poses that leave little to the imagination.

And don’t even get me started on her tits, or I’ll be walking around with a fuckin’ boner day in and day out.

“I have a date tonight,” she says as if her social life is top-of-the-chart important to me.

My gaze swings to hers, and I do everything in my power to infuse my expression with disdain because, you know, if I don’t remind myself how goddamn annoying she is, I might do something about the hot as fuck part of her. “Okay,” I say, casually.

“He’ll be here soon,” she adds as if she has any right to be annoyed.

“All right,” I say, waiting for her to get to the fucking point.

She stomps her foot, clad in a pale pink stiletto with a big loopy bow around the ankle.

“You can’t come,” she gestures to my face, and impossible to ignore tattoos. “Not looking like that.” She adds a sneer. “This isn’t exactly a face tattoo kind of place, Lucky.”

The way she says my name makes me smile. Annoying her has become my favorite pastime, especially since I’m stuck on princess duty.

It’s not that we need the princess, I remind myself. We’re keeping her safe from the cartel.

“Tough shit,” I tell her. “Where you go, I go. You know that.”

She lets out a low growl, stomping both of her fuck me heels like a child throwing a tantrum. It should make her less attractive, but those tits we aren’t gonna talk about have the perfect amount of jiggle, and I can’t look away. “Whatever. Just don’t embarrass me.”

I grin. “Wouldn’t dream of it, Princess.”

With a frustrated sigh, I scrub my hand over my face, letting my gaze swing left and right up the block where Aria lives with her father, Geoffrey, who is never home. Thank fuck because I’m not sure I could deal with them both without losing my shit.

This is a job more suitable for one of the prospects. Tank or my brother Diesel are good candidates. Hell, even the new prospect Olly can do this without fucking it up. But for some unfathomable reason, I’m stuck here.

The sun starts to set, and the orange glow settles on the big ass mansions in the neighborhood, and I appreciate the sight. These rich folks pay an arm and a leg for houses they work too much to spend time in. But the solitude is the only thing that makes this assignment bearable—no nosy rich fuckers asking questions.

All too soon, a red Maserati pulls into the driveway, and out steps a blond-haired douchebag wearing chinos and a light green golf shirt. He walks with an arrogant air about him—the exact type of asshole I expect the princess to date. He ignores me and heads to the front door, and Aria coos over his arrival.

I roll my eyes at her stupid fucking baby talk, and they disappear into the house. Finally, I can make my way to my bike with a smile. Staying at the mansion with Aria means I haven’t had time to ride, to let the sun hit my forearms and the back of my neck as I tear up the highway, but tonight, I get to ride. For a little while, anyway.

I only manage to get my helmet strapped when the massive front door opens, and Aria saunters out with the douchebag. He’s dressed like one of the Easter eggs Diesel and I used to paint with Grandma. There’s a smug air about him, and it has nothing to do with his appreciative gaze on Aria’s tits. His gaze flicks up to mine, and I nod. Yeah, motherfucker, I’m going along for the ride.

“Damn, this place is like heaven on Earth.” The excitement in Joaquin’s voice puts a smile on my face.

“Yeah,” I agree. “Costa Rica is the closest thing to paradise I’ve ever seen. Beautiful beaches and even more beautiful women.” I nod my head at the women of all shades and shapes, showing off miles of legs as they strut around in tiny shorts, bikinis, or sexy dresses. “Have fun. I’ll catch up with you guys later.”

I give them a wave and make my way to the bar.

Now that we’ve sold the guns and have the money in our possession, it’s time to relax and enjoy the fruits of our labor. I’m feeling good, so I grab a drink at the bar and move to a seat with a view.

After weeks of hard work, we finally made it, so I enjoy the scenery and the feeling of accomplishment. I sip my drink and watch the beautiful women laughing, flirting, and having a good time.

I take another sip of my drink and sit back, satisfied with myself. This is the life.

Suddenly, a voice behind me interrupts my thoughts.

“I’ll have what he’s having and put both on my tab.” The sweet Spanish-accented voice with the generous offer draws my attention.

I turn and look into the greenest, almond-shaped eyes I’ve ever seen and instantly give her my best grin. “I’ll never say no to a beautiful woman plying me with alcohol .”

She laughs and sits next to me. I immediately get lost in a hot Latina with dyed blonde hair, smooth brown skin, and enough cleavage on display to make my eyes water.

While I’m picking get my jaw off the floor, she purrs, “I’ll bet you say that to all the girls.”

It’s my turn to laugh as I shake my head. “I’m too old for girls, but I’m perfect for a woman bold enough to buy me a drink. Or two.”

She offers me her delicate hand out with just a tiny ring on her forefinger. No fancy jewelry and no wedding ring. She’s not rich, drunk, or taken, making her perfect for my plans tonight.

“Maria,” she says in a low hush that hits me in my gut.

My hand engulfs her smaller one, and I say, “Jake,” in a tone that answers her come-on. I’m not sure where this is going yet, so I don’t tell her everyone calls me Dix for Jake Dixon.

I just say, “Silky smooth,” as her skin glides against my fingers. “How I like my drinks and my women.”

And then comes her seductive grin. “Not with a kick?”

“Nah, but I don’t mind if they have a bite.”

She giggles, and the sound bypasses my core and goes straight to my cock. “So, are you here for business or pleasure?”

Maria leans in close, showing off even more of her ample cleavage. I lick my lips in anticipation of getting my mouth on her.

I wonder if she’s trying to pump me for information or if she’s just a good-time girl. She has inquisitive eyes, but not overly so, and I lean in close with a smile. “Pleasure. Nothing but pleasure, Maria.”

We finish our drinks and decide to take a walk on the beach, enjoying the warm sand between our toes and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. As we walk, I notice Maria has a playful, adventurous spirit that I find irresistible.

As we reach the hotel, she finally says, “I’m here on vacation too.”

“Vacation but not pleasure?”

Her tongue slips out and slides across her bottom lip and then her top lip. “Pleasure is for the bedroom, Jake.”

“Pleasure happens when and wherever the mood strikes, Maria. But for you, I’m willing to start with the bedroom.”

Lust darkens her eyes, and the pulse in her throat beats wildly, telling me she wants the same thing I do. As we reach the hotel where we met—my hotel—she says, “I just have one question for you, Jake. Your bedroom or mine?”

“Whichever is closer, honey. Mine is just a few floors up.”

Maria bites her bottom lip and says, “Show me the way.”

When the elevator doors open, I put a hand on her lower back and guide her inside.

“Your chariot awaits,” I say and press the button to the third floor.

Maria giggles, a wholly unexpected sound from a beautiful and seemingly worldly woman, then she leans against me inside the elevator. “I don’t want a chariot, Jake. I want a stallion.”

No one has to tell me twice.

I press her into the corner and let my lips crash down on hers, savoring the taste of guaro and lime on her tongue.

Despite her giggles, Maria is not afraid to show me what she wants. She fists her hands in my shirt and pulls me close, deepening the kiss and crawling up my body, moaning every step of the way.
I’ve always been a man of pleasure, never one for commitment.
Friends with benefits is what I’m after. And I’ve had a lot of…ahem…friends.
But Willow is different. She’s fiery, sassy, and takes no prisoners. I thought a fling during lockdown would be fun, but I never expected to see beyond her tough exterior to the real woman inside.
When she gets shot and the cartel comes after us, I realize I can’t live without her.
I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her, even if it means burning this place to the ground.
If she lives through this, I’ll make her mine forever.
Can this reformed gang banger win the heart of the one woman he can’t live without?

Don’t miss the next book in the Reckless Souls Motorcycle Club Series! You’ll love this exciting friends to lovers romantic suspense!

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Willow

“This is all so weird,” I say out loud to no one in particular as I work the register at For Goodness Cakes.

The Reckless Souls motorcycle club is still on lockdown, which for some reason, includes me. Everything at the club is tense as hell. Well, it’s tense for the guys and the women who love them, but for me, it’s been pretty fucking exciting. And dangerous, which is probably what makes it all so exciting.

Right now, the Reckless Souls are at war with the Iron Kings, a psychopathic motorcycle club that’s on its last leg, or tire or whatever the fuck you use for a MC metaphor.

Anyway, lockdown means that I am in absolute heaven being surrounded by hot bikers. I have so many to choose from, all of them delicious in their own way, and the options are so tempting that I’m having a hard time choosing just one.

Well, the single ones, that is.

Some of the guys who are married or otherwise coupled up are hot as hell, but I don’t touch another girl’s merch, if you get my drift.

Still, I’m stuck in a candy store and don’t I know it.

Stone and Tank are outside the bakery today, providing security, so I focus on them while Maven bakes her ass off in the back. Stone is, well, he is the kind of hot that just has to smile to send a girl’s panties on fire. He’s big and blond, and that Texas accent? Oh my fuck, he’s too hot to focus on anything as dull as cookies and pies.

Then there’s Tank. He’s not even a real biker yet, just a prospect, so he isn’t really worth pursuing. Yet. Even still, Tank is sex on a stick. A very big stick if ya ask me.

His blond hair curls just enough to soften his giant appearance, and those eyes say he’s got more going on inside that head than bikes and engines. He’s got a dirty mouth, which I like, but he’s not patched yet, so fucking him won’t make me a biker’s chick, not technically.

Nova is the club doctor, and he’s gorgeous in a sophisticated way. He’s quiet, but maybe that’s what a wild child like me needs. I don’t know. All I know is I have plenty to choose from, and I’m choosing wisely.

For once.

My phone buzzes inside my apron, interrupting my ogling of the fine man-flesh on display just outside the window, and somehow I tear my eyes away to look down at the screen. I groan at the sight of my mom’s face because I know behind her smile, she’s going to be pissed off.

“Hey, Mom, how’s it going?” I ask in my sweetest voice.

“You’d know the answer to that if you’d been home at all over the past week.”

I sigh and nod even though she can’t see me. “I know, Mom, and I’m sorry, but some stuff has gone down, and Maven needs my help.”

“I hope she’s paying you, Willow.”

“She is,” I sigh. Mom isn’t a bad person. She’s one of the best people I know, but life has been hard for us. She works two shit jobs, meaning her top priority is always money. “I’m sorry I didn’t call.”

“Right,” she snorts. “Look, Willow, just because you haven’t been home in a while doesn’t mean that you can stop paying your part of the bills. That was the deal, remember?”

I nod again. As long as I live there, I have to work, and we split the bills. “Yeah, Mom, I’m fine. Great even. Thanks for asking.”

“Willow,” she sighs in that exhausted tone she’s been using since I was about ten years old.

“Forget it, Mom. You don’t know or care what’s going on in my life. I got it. But I promise I will stop by soon to pay my part of the rent. All right?”

“Good,” she says, her tone short and distracted. “Thank you.”

I stare at the phone as the screen turns black, almost in disbelief, except that would be totally phony because I know this is Mom’s way.

She works and pays the bills, and if she has time, she finds a shitty boyfriend to entertain her for a while.

“Yep, great talk, Mom. See you soon,” I say sarcastically at the black screen.

I hate fighting with Mom, but that’s what happens when two strong-willed women share tiny living quarters. We’re a team, Mom and me, and we have been for as long as I can remember.

The morning rush is over, and the dining area is clean, so I push the swinging door that separates the kitchen from the front of the bakery and smile at Maven. “Hey there, hot stuff.”

She laughs and shoves another cake in the oven before setting the timer. “Hey, Willow. What’s up?”

“That’s what I want to know. How are things with your sexy-ass biker?”
Maven Yates is everything I never knew I wanted. Headstrong, independent and a body that just won’t quit.
Unfortunately, neither will her ex.
He’s determined to take the club down—and her with it.
I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. Even if that means war.
But Maven’s not making it easy. The more I try to get close to her, the more she pushes me away.
She says she’s too old for me. But I know what I want. And I’m not giving up without a fight.
Maven is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her mine.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Maven

“Damn, girl, can you believe how busy we’ve been lately?” Willow Martinez says. The beautiful twenty-something flashes her bright blue eyes at me. For some reason, she wants to work at my bakery and enthuses with a toothy grin as she locks the door and flips the CLOSED sign over for the night. “Who knew so many people were still on the carb train?”

I can’t help but laugh at Willow. She’s loud and exuberant and probably my biggest supporter. I shrug off her words even though they fill me with the satisfaction of seeing my dream come true.

“What can I say? Together we’re putting For Goodness Cakes on the map!” Business has been steady for months, so steady that I now stay open until nine at night. I mean, what bakeries do that?

“On the map? Honey, we are the map.” Willow shakes her head, a curtain of blonde hair falling around her shoulders when she releases the bun she has to wear. You guessed it. She hates the hair net. “We literally can’t keep the Maven Cakes on the shelf for more than fifteen minutes.”

I sigh at her reminder that my signature cakes bring in all kinds of new business. “It’s only because a re-run of the Amateur Baker’s Championship recently aired.”

At least, that’s what I tell myself because at my age, I don’t take any measure of success for granted.

“Yeah, yeah,” Willow rolls her eyes and busies herself, flipping the chairs onto the small pastel tables that give my bakery a cheerful, airy feeling. The cozy atmosphere makes the customers want to sit and chat and soak up the sun that filters in most of the day.

“You’re so modest it’s disgusting,” she growls. “But I love you anyway, and this place is fun. And Angel Harbor has the hottest bikers ever, and I can pay rent without showing my tits.”

I snort-laugh at her blunt assessment of her financial situation. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”

Willow laughs. “I mean, there are a few bikers I wouldn’t mind getting a peek at the girls,” she says and shakes her boobs for emphasis. “One day,” she whispers and crosses her fingers.

I shake my head at the folly of youth. “You don’t really want a biker, do you? Not for keeps?”

“Hell, yeah, I do. They’re hot as fuck and badass. I’m about to cream my panties just thinking about it,” she laughs. “Thank God the day is over, right?”

“Willow,” I groan in a teasing tone. “What am I gonna do with you?”

“Me? I should be asking you that question, the woman who’s dating, of all people, a used car salesman. You should have gone to Angel Harbor Choppers and got a bike. A big, fat hog. I would have gone with you. I bet I could have talked them down on the price.” She smiles.

Despite Willow’s tone, my lips part into a smile at the mention of my boyfriend, Cyrus. We’ve been dating for almost eight months, and unlike the biker boys Willow lusts after, he’s a good guy, an upstanding citizen with a respectable job.

“And what would I do with a “hog”?” I ask with air quotes. “What’s wrong with a used car? I’m no biker mama.”

Willow grabs the broom from the corner and starts sweeping up crumbs from the dining area. “I have nothing against cars. But those bikers over there are freaking hot. And tbh, used cars are the only way girls like us will ever be able to afford a car, right?”

Willow isn’t wrong, well, except about the girls like us part, since no one with eyes would classify me as a girl.

No such thing as a fifty-year-old girl, I tell myself with a short laugh. I’m not self-conscious about my age, but I put my best years into make a success of my business instead of a success of my love life. “Good point,” I say. But with Cyrus, though, all that is about to change.

“But the guys who sell cars, used or otherwise, can’t be trusted. All they think about is getting that commission. They can’t be trusted. Period.”

I smile again at the authority with which a twenty-three-year-old speaks as if she’s seen the world and has all the answers. “You’re so cynical. And Cyrus isn’t like that. He’s a great guy.”
When a blue-haired hacker with lips made for sin, steals from us, I break into her bedroom to see what I can find.
I didn’t expect to be so drawn to her.
Gia’s not like any woman I’ve ever met. She’s strong, independent, and she doesn’t take crap from anyone – including me.
She’s desperate to cooperate now, but can I trust her?
And if she lies about the theft, what else is she lying about?
I need to find out the truth, but I can’t resist Gia for long. She’s under my skin and in my blood.
And the more I get to know her, the more I realize she’s not only a hot headed thieving minx, she’s in deeper than I thought.
The Kings want her to do their dirty work, but I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
Even if it means putting my own life at risk.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Gia

“Just do another fuckin’ bump, Ro. It’s no big deal.”

I grab the rolled-up dollar bill from my best friend’s hand and snort another line because why the fuck not? I feel the hit and give a satisfying sigh.

It’s a party. I have no place to be in the morning, and everyone here except my bestie, Romina, is boring as fuck.

“Here.”

I offer a line to her again, but Ro shakes her head, thick black curls swishing across her shoulder. This time she pushes my hand away.

“I’m good, Gia. I’m already too fucked up as it is.”

She slides a finger under her nose, her dark eyes wide and alert as she reaches for her beer.

“The booze is plenty, unless you got a joint to even me back out?”

I shrug and scan the people inside the house on Elm Street. I know most of these people and consider many of them actual friends, as much as I can be friends with people I hang out with for the sole purpose of getting wasted.

Drunk or high, none of us care as long as we can escape the shit that is our lives for just a little while. I spot Jason over by the keg set up in the kitchen. He always has weed. “I’ll see what I can find, Ro.”

“Be careful,” she calls after me, and I wave her off.

Jason is a bit of a sleaze, always trying to get in my pants, but he knows exactly where the line is, and he never crosses it. I can handle him, and when I want something, I handle him really well.

I sidle up to him and lower my eyes. “Hey, Jase, lookin’ good.”

He looks at me with a hungry grin, his blue eyes sparkling with desire as they laser in on my tits.

“Gia!” He acts surprised to see me as if he hasn’t been oglin’ my ass all night. “You look good enough to eat.”

He licks his lips and leans in to whisper in my ear over the loud hip hop music blaring through speakers set up all over the house. “Just say the word, and I’ll eat you out until you beg me to stop. Again.”

I shiver at his words. Jason isn’t my type, but after a little too much booze and blow, he gives head like he was born to do it.

“Maybe later,” I tell him around a fake pout. “If you’re a good boy. Anyone here got any weed? Ro wants a joint.” I lean my elbows on the counter next to the keg and watch as his eyes widen in delight. “So?”

His blue eyes crawl up my body full of heat as he settles on my face. “What’s in it for me?”

I resist the urge to roll my eyes and shrug. “What do you want, Jase?”

“A kiss.” His lips curl into a smile that I think is supposed to be sexy, but it fails.

“On the cheek.”

“With tongue,” he counters.

“Try again.” I smile to take the sting off my words. “No kissing.” It’s not really my jam and definitely not with Jase.

“Let me suck your tits for five minutes.”

“For a joint?” I roll my eyes. “You’d better throw in an eight ball for that.” And even then, I can’t see it happening.

“Tease,” he growls. “How about this? You let me do a shot from your tits, and this joint,” he pulls it from the pocket of his denim jacket to tease me, “is yours.”

I tap my cheek, pretending to think about it, making him wait a little to let his anticipation grow. Jason isn’t the first guy to drool over my tits, not even the only one in the room drooling over them now. They’re just tits, and guys have been making fools of themselves over them since I was a teenager. Now, in my twenties, they’re no big deal to me. I push away from the counter with a grin. “Where’s the salt?”

Jase laughs and hands me the joint. “You remembered my favorite drink. I know you want me, Gia, and I can’t wait for you to stop playing so hard to get and give me some.”

“Come on, Loretta, or else we’ll be late.” Mother’s voice comes out in a sing-song tone, but that doesn’t fool me in the least. She’s getting impatient already despite the fact that she just told me that I’d be helping her out at church today.

“Coming down now,” I call out as I brush my thick brown hair into a bun and complete the look with a navy blue headband. I don’t know why I try to look nice when no one notices, especially the people at church. Still, I swipe on some mascara and lip gloss before I give my reflection one last look.

It isn’t exactly the trendy fashions of a twenty-three-year-old woman, but I’m not a regular twenty-three-year-old woman. For starters, I still live with my parents while I finish college. On top of that, my family is very religious. More so my mother than my dad. Not like we just go to church every Sunday. Easter and Christmas. Oh no, we go nearly every day of the week, volunteer, sit on committees, and help with fundraising efforts.

“For crying out loud, Loretta, get down here right this moment!”

I roll my eyes as I walk down the curved staircase and join my mom at the front door.

“I’m right here, Mother.”

She insists on me calling her Mother. She says it’s more appropriate. Respectful. I think it’s a crock.

Her blue eyes, identical to my own, make a quick trip up and down my body to double-check my appearance.

“What did you do to your hair?”

I push my shoulders back and lift my chin. “What I had time to do, Mother. I thought we were going to be late.”

She wants to say more. I can tell that another insult is on the tip of her tongue, but I have her in a trap. She glances down at the rose gold Pavé watch glittering with diamonds and lets out a long-suffering sigh as if even the time is my fault.

“Let’s go. Your father is waiting,” she says in a chastising tone as if Daddy is waiting just for me.

I follow her out and flash a warm smile at my dad holding the door open for me. He’s such a gentleman.

“How are you this morning?”

“Good, Daddy,” I tell him with a smile. “Two more months, and I’ll be an official college graduate.”

“I know. I’m so proud of you, honey,” he says with a wide smile.

“Get inside this car right now, Loretta!”

“Thanks.” I roll my eyes as I slide into the backseat of Dad’s SUV.

I know my mom loves me and wants what she thinks is best for me, but she gets bat-poop crazy when she’s under pressure. And in her eyes, being late for church is pressure.

“We’re helping Pastor Braden out with a funeral today.”

“A funeral?” Not that I have a problem with funerals, at least in theory, but the last thing I want to do on my day off from school is spending time mourning.

“Would have been nice to know that.”

“You know now,” she insists, her eyes never looking away from her phone. “It’s a simple task, Loretta. Just hand out programs, smile, and offer your condolences.”

This isn’t my first funeral service, so I keep my thoughts to myself. I just nod and watch the world pass me by, something that seems to happen more with each and every day. “Do we know the deceased?”

“No, thank goodness. Some young woman, Grace Davies. Her mother attends Destiny of Life, though not regularly. Her daughter, God rest her soul, got tangled up with someone she shouldn’t have, and that led to a horrifying end for her. Should be a good lesson for you.”

I sigh and keep my gaze on the window to my right. “Because I’m such a bad daughter?”

“Of course not. Your father and I have done a lot of work to make sure you follow the right path, and God willing, you won’t forget everything we’ve taught you when you’re in the real world.”

Even if I want to forget, I can’t. Church and religion have been such a big part of my life that it’s who I am. “I won’t.”

“See that you don’t,” she shoots back, always determined to have the last word. Always.

I stay silent until we arrive at the brown and white stucco building and expansive parking lot leading to Destiny of Life Church. Before Daddy can make his way to my side, I open the door and step from the car.

“Goodbye, Troy,” my mom tells my dad. I wish he was staying, but he doesn’t help around the church like Mom, and I do.

I catch up to Mom, and she glares at me. “You’ll never find a quality husband if you don’t let a man be a man Loretta.”

I frown. “What are you talking about now, Mother?”

“Wait for your father to open your door for you. Not only is it his duty, but it teaches you to expect all men to behave in such a way. You are to be treated like a lady at all times, whether you know it or not.”
I found a sassy-mouthed, smokin’ hot woman following me.
Good thing I didn’t kill her on sight, she’s Kelsey’s older sister, McKenna.
And she hates me. She thinks she can get intel on the MC and set us up for a fall.
Then her best friend turns up dead. Bloated and floating in our harbor. It’s a message from our rivals.
McKenna may have the answers I need, but I have to get her on my side to find out.
She’s too uppity for her own good. Too sexy as well. But I’ll tear down those walls.
Especially after that kiss. Might even make the princess mine.

My gaze strays outside the large windows lining the front wall of For Goodness Cakes, unseeing as I think about my poor, traumatized kid sister. “We have to do something. Kelsey isn’t thinking straight.”

I don’t have to speak the next words, but I do, even though it’s obvious to anyone who knows Kelsey. “If she was in her right mind?” I look at my best friend Grace for confirmation. “No way she’d choose to stay with him.”

I sigh at the expression of worry she’s wearing and repeat myself. “We have to do something.”

“Kenna,” Grace says with that patient sigh that reminds me too much of my own disappointed mother. “You promised Kelsey you’d support her, and honestly, that’s what she needs from you right now.”

Grace is right. I did make that exact promise to my sister after she was kidnapped and raped by a stupid biker gang. The enemy of the biker gang she’s living with now.

I throw up my hands in frustration. “What else was I going to say after the horrible things that happened to her?”

She’d been so frail all those weeks ago, practically broken. So, I did what any good big sister would. I lied.

“But clearly, she can’t just stay there with Coop forever. What kind of life is that for her?”

Grace looks out the window and then back to me, her big violet eyes full of emotion one minute and then blank the next. “It’s a life she’s choosing, Kenna. It’s her choice, not yours. Not your mom’s or dad’s choice either. She’s grown.”

I can feel steel straightening my spine. “Grace,” I say between gritted teeth. “You’re not listening to me. The bad shit that happened to her, the kidnapping, the beating, and the rape, it only happened to her because of Coop.” I’m not mad so much at Grace as the circumstances I can’t control.

I can’t figure out what’s so special about this guy that he’s the one my sister chose to derail her life for. He’s good-looking, sure, in a dirty biker kind of way, and he does take good care of her, but then, so would any other man and without all the biker bullshit.

“That’s your opinion, Kenna, but even if it’s true, it’s still her decision to make. Keep this up, and you’ll ruin your relationship with her.”

I gasp and glare at my best friend. “Whose side are you on anyway?”

Grace shakes her head, black waves tumbling around her delicate shoulders with every move.

“Dammit, Kenna, it’s not about sides. It’s about you supporting your sister. Let’s say you’re right, and Coop is no good for her. Has anything you said so far made her rethink her choice?”

I snort. “Yeah, right. Kelsey is so stubborn she might just stay with him to spite me.”

“Right, but let’s say at some point in the future she does want to get away from Coop and the Reckless Souls. Is she going to turn to her bitchy sister, who’s just gonna say I told you so? Or will she tough it out because she has nowhere else to go?”

I dismiss Grace’s concern immediately. “Kelsey knows she can always come to me.”

“Does she? How could she possibly when you’re always talking shit on her?” Grace shakes her head, and an exasperated sigh escapes. “She is an adult, Kenna, whether you like it or not. If you want to help her when, or if, the time comes, be there for her now. Without judgment.”

That’s a nice sentiment and all, but it isn’t realistic.

“Grace, she won’t even come over for a family dinner anymore. Dad blew a gasket about her postponing med school and living off her trust fund until she’s better, but Kelsey refuses to tell him why.”

“What happened to her? It’s not easy to talk about.” There’s a hint of something I can’t quite figure out in Grace’s tone, so I shrug it off because she isn’t getting my point.

“He’s our father, Grace.”

“Yeah, and he’s even more judgmental than you.”

I roll my eyes even though it’s not the first time I’ve heard about my fatal flaw. “That asshole’s isolating her, Grace. Probably to get his hands on her trust fund.”

Grace laughs. “You do realize that Coop has more money than she does, right? The club is far richer than your family?”

“Impossible,” I scoff, but her words give me an idea. “We just have to show Kelsey the truth, Grace.” As my idea takes shape, I can see it’ll give me the ammo I need to get Kelsey to see the light.

“Show her what, exactly?” Grace leans back and folds her arms over her ample chest, which has always been a great source of envy for me. “That the MC is into illegal things? So is your father, so why should she care about that?”

“Damn.” Grace makes a good point. “Then I’ll have to find a way to get Coop in trouble. Maybe plant some drugs on his bike or inside that mechanics shop. Then he’ll get locked up, and Kelsey will be forced to come home.” Yeah, that’s a good plan. “We just have to buy some drugs.”
