PACK RULE #12: ALWAYS SATISFY YOUR MATE.
The beautiful single mom has a secret.
It's not why she walked away from an IndyCar pit crew job.

Or the reason she chose Cooper Valley when she could work anywhere in the world.
It's that her five-year-old son smells like a wolf.

My alpha wants to know what she might be hiding. I don't care about that.
My wolf made the call: She's my mate. That means the pup is mine too, blood or not.

Except I've got a rep as the cockiest, most brazen rodeo player in three counties.

She takes one look at me and decides I’m good for exactly one thing. Fine by me. I'll take it.

We strike a bargain: I'm the only one who gets to touch her.
No labels. No strings. Just heat, and as much of me and what I can give her.
Every night I have her, I'm winning. Every time she lets her guard down, I'm in a little deeper.

She thinks I'm too young to want forever. She's about to find out exactly how wrong she is.

She's mine. The pup's mine. And I don't intend to let either go.

This reverse age-gap blue collar romance features a young, cocky rodeo star who is over-the-top possessive and protective of the feisty single mom who is his fated mate. No cliffhangers or cheating. HEA guaranteed

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

CLIO

* * *

Oof! There was nothing like having a twenty-pound tire tossed to you by your five-year-old.

Yeah, five-year-old.

“Here, Mommy.” JT cocked the next tire.

“Five more seconds, baby.” Six years working as a race car pit crew member meant I could change a set of wheels by myself in about sixty seconds.

I zipped through tightening the lug nuts on the first one, turned, and caught the airborne Michelin XZX with another oof. “Ow. Too hard for Mommy. Don’t put so much strength into your throws.”

“Oops. Sor-ry,” JT sing-songed as he hefted the next one overhead.

“And you know if Mr. Ernie was here, this would be a no-no.”

“I know!” JT’s exasperated sigh made me smile.

“You’re just so strong, buddy. We don’t want to make anyone else feel bad.” My daily struggle was teaching a superhuman kindergartener to mask his abilities and not show anyone what he was. It wasn’t like I could tell him he was part wolf shifter. I would someday, but he’d have too many questions, and I didn’t have the answers.

“Why don’t you grab your screwdriver and keep taking that toaster apart?” The old appliance had been Ernie’s. It broke, and my boss had brought it in thinking JT might like to use some tools to take it apart.

My little man hung out with me after school. Thankfully, the elementary school was only a block away, and I was able to meet him out front after the bell rang and walk him back to the shop until it closed at six.

I moved efficiently around the classic Volkswagen convertible Bug that seventy-three-year-old Mrs. Marsh brought in. She told Ernie in a conversation that spanned far longer than it took me to give the car a full tune-up that her granddaughter was turning sixteen, and she wanted to surprise her with the title to the treasure.

There was no sixteen-year-old on earth who wouldn’t love this baby. Especially now that I installed a top of the line stereo system, so she had full technology. Not that a teenager in Cooper Valley would need help with directions or traffic. I was pretty sure everyone in this small Montana town was born and raised here.

JT tossed me the last tire, and I put it on and lowered the car off the lift as a giant red pickup drove into Ernie’s Garage’s empty lot.

These ranchers and their giant trucks. Around here, I swore that the men equated their trucks to their dick size. Not that I’d seen one in a while.

I gave JT a pointed look, but softened it with a smile. “No more tire throwing,” I warned as I sauntered out the open garage door, peeling off my latex gloves. They kept my hands from being permanently stained with grease.

“I know,” he called.

A young, blond man in cowboy boots and jeans opened the door of the truck and dropped from the driver’s seat in a smooth motion. He started to come my way, cup of coffee in hand. When his gaze met mine, his nostrils flared, and he froze, sloshing coffee over the white t-shirt that did a whole heck of a lot to show off his packed muscles.

He turned back to the truck, which let me see the back side of him… including his ass.

Another hot cowboy. This town was full of eye candy like this guy. Good thing I was fairly immune to virile young men who thought they were the shiz. I grew up in a racetrack central pit, surrounded by trash-talking testosterone-laden young men.

That didn’t mean I wasn’t enjoying the view though. If I were a few years younger and less jaded, I might let him buy me a drink and test-drive him in bed. But I was older, wiser, and had a child.

He set the now-empty to-go cup on the hood and–holy hell.

He peeled his t-shirt off over his head, wiped his hands with it, then tossed it back in the truck.

I should thank the good Lord he didn’t have a napkin because taking his shirt off perked my ovaries right up. It should be illegal for a guy with a body like that to walk around shirtless. There could be car accidents.

It felt straight out of a movie the way the sun bounced off his six-pack abs.

But he probably spilled on himself just for the opportunity to show off his Hollywood-worthy physique. Guys like him knew their effect on women and milked it for all it was worth.

This one had broad shoulders stacked with muscles and light curls dusting his sculpted pecs. There was no farmer’s tan that I could see, and I saw. A guy that blond should’ve been sunburnt, but he sported a golden tan, like he worked all day in the sun without a shirt.

While my panties were getting wet, I was immune to this obvious display of ego. I knew all about hot, cocky young men who thought the world revolved around them. I’d had my fill of them working in racing—JT’s dad being the prime example.
As an immortal hunter who walks the line of madness, I’m used to nightmares. I thought my twin brother’s betrayal was the worst one.
I was wrong.
We’re identical in every way, right down to our mating marks. The same mating mark that now dances across Aurora Somerhaul’s beautiful neck. The same Aurora I saved from my brother’s torture. The same Aurora I’m determined to help heal.
And now we don’t know if the mark is mine or his. If it’s Samuel’s, fate tied her to her abuser. If it’s mine, fate chained her to a walking nightmare who’s destined to kill his own brother.
Staying away from her is the best option, but when she needs to feed and only feels comfortable doing so from me, I can’t deny her. She’s the light to my darkness, and her chaotic mind calls to mine like a mirror. She looks at me and doesn’t see a monster.
I don’t deserve her, but I’ll do everything I can to protect her.
Even if that means making the ultimate sacrifice—my life

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER 1

Saint

“Tell me you’ve got something,” I ask the second I step into the war room.

Ransom is behind the keys, checking several monitors and typing at rapid speeds. “Nothing yet,” he says, but he sounds hopeful, because of course he does. His mate and child are safe, and he doesn’t have a mad twin with an agenda dead set on killing everything that matters to him.

I suck in a sharp breath. Fuck, this is not his fault. It’s mine. It’s always been mine.

The reason we went into stasis all those years ago. The second I’d sensed my brother walking that line of bloodmadness, I’d tried to save him from himself. I watched him feed, barely stopping him from murdering every single human he fed from. And when it wasn’t enough, I convinced my hunter brothers to go into stasis, claiming it was me who couldn’t control my hunger. I’d promised our mother on her deathbed that I’d protect her favorite son. Samuel had always been the golden child in our family, but the power of that position turned him into a monster.

I thought going into stasis would soothe his madness and return him to the brother I once knew. The one who wasn’t malicious, calculative, and power hungry. The one who didn’t care about the throne or his proximity to it. The one who always watched over me like I’d watched over him.

Those memories seem like I’m remembering someone else entirely. The brother I knew died a long time ago. And now I need to officially kill the one he’s turned into. The one who got to Aurora. The one who almost killed her. Again.

I rake my fingers through my hair, hating the itch in the back of my mind I can’t scratch.

“Saint,” Alek says my name like he’s approaching a wild animal as he bounds into the room. I get it. I’m used to it. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the most stable of creatures. I never have been, but I’ve never strayed as far as my twin. You’d think that would count for something.

“I’m sorry,” I manage to force the words out. Anger burns my skin. Samuel had been right here. The scene keeps repeating—his hand around Aurora’s throat, her eyes wide and terrified. Fuck, I need to carve into something. Preferably my twin brother’s heart.

“For what?” Alek asks.

“I didn’t go after him.” I couldn’t go after him. I saw Aurora drop and that was it.

“Saint,” Alek chides me. “You saved Aurora. You never need to apologize for making those kinds of choices.”

I study the king. He means it. He’s a good ruler. I’ve met enough to know that most would’ve rather I captured the threat that’s evaded us for months. One that broke onto our grounds by convincing the Greenbriars to sacrifice half of their coven to tear down the wards. Samuel thought the casualties would be higher. He thought he’d claim the throne. He hadn’t counted on so many mates of the assassins and hunters joining the fight. Hadn’t counted on their strength in duos.

A mistake I know he won’t make again.

“We’ll find him,” Alek assures me. “I know we’re getting close. He’s losing key players at every attack. It’s only a matter of time before he has no one left on his side.”

“Samuel has always had a way of recruiting people to his way of thinking. He’s never alone for long.” There are still a handful of aristocrats wearing the Deveraux seal on their suit jackets and gowns. A fact I know is eating away at our king, even if he won’t admit it.

“We’ll catch him,” Alek says, almost like he needs to convince himself.

I’ll kill him, I silently correct him. There’s no catching him. No imprisoning him. He has to die.

After a quick debriefing with all the hunters and assassins, the war room breaks, and I head up the stairs toward Aurora’s chambers. It’s a nightly habit of mine, to see if she needs me to help her eat or sleep or anything else I can do to make up for what my brother did to her—

Her scream rips through the space above me, and I’m speeding into her room before I can draw my next breath. I skid to a halt at the sight of Annika, Dagon’s mate and Olivia’s niece, standing just outside Aurora’s bathing chamber.

“What’s wrong?” I snap. “Is she hurt?”

“I just got here,” Annika says, eyes wide with worry.

“Aurora,” I plead. “Open the door.”

A million scenarios rush through my mind. It could be residual effects of her trauma, past and present, tearing her mind apart like it did when she first came to the residence, or it could be some aftereffects of an infliction Samuel left upon her after touching her. And after tonight, I can’t be sure someone wasn’t left behind to attack when we’re least expecting it—
I sold my soul to the devil to save my sister.
In exchange for my eternal damnation, he’s bound to help me infiltrate the place where my sister was taken—the brutal, all-male demon academy where, if discovered, I’ll be hunted, enslaved, or eaten.

But as long as I’m magically disguised as a man, I’ll be able to navigate those dangers easily, right?
Hell no.

Not when the dangerous alpha monsters who rule the school are drawn to me in ways they can’t explain. The demon prince who can’t stay away from me. The exiled werewolf who sees right through me. The cold, haughty fae lord who hates me. And the starving vampire teacher who could’ve sworn for one delicious second… that my veins smelled of pumping, tempting, tasty blood.

They all want to have me, defeat me, kill me, or eat me.
But what do I want?

I want to know why, with every day that passes, I get the feeling that kidnapping my little sister was just the bait, and the whole time, what my unseen watchers and stalkers truly wanted…
…was me.

Deal With The Devil is the first book in the Hell Boys series. It features dark themes, language, and no choosing required

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

My lungs burned in my chest, crumbling to ash. My feet were two bleeding blocks of meat in too-tight shoes, jarring pain up my aching legs with every strike against the craggy, scorched earth. Hot, acrid, humid air clung to every part of me, making me feel like I was running through soup.

I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t see. I couldn’t stop. And all they did... was laugh.

Loud, raucous, poisonous laughter battered my eardrums. The other race contestants had all reached the finish line ages ago, leaving me in the last and most humiliating place.

Skins of all shades, colors, furs, and scales. Horns, pointed ears, fangs. A myriad of shining eyes from red to very pale white. Beings that shouldn’t exist. Creatures that were never meant to be real.

These vicious competitors all stood before me—united in one single goal—laughing their asses off at me as I stumbled over the finish line and collapsed at their feet.

“What the fuck’s wrong with you?” someone jeered.

A swift kick to my stomach shot the last traces of air screaming out of my lungs, cutting off any chance of me responding even if I wanted to.

“My five-hundred-year-old arthritic grandmother runs faster than you, and she’s got one eye and three legs.”

“Is this the true measure of a demon?” a cold, haughty voice slithered in my ear. “Pathetic creatures.”

“Enough.” A shadow fell over me—as large and intimidating as his booming voice. “Move to zone four. Your next trial starts now.”

The crowd jogged off, leaving their snickers and sneers in their wake.

I strained to get my hands and knees underneath me. “S-sir?” I croaked. I reached my hand up. “A little hel—”

He stomped on my hand, crushing it between his hoof and the heated earth.

My scream echoed through the Scorched Valley.

“Zero points for that sneak attack, boy. Your reflexes were too slow, and where the fuck’s your weapon?” He scoffed. “But two points for finally showing some balls. Putting on such a pathetic display just to draw me in and attack when you’re faking being down. Clever little demon.” Something akin to respect bled into the psychopath’s voice. “Very clever.”

Bending over me, he put his mouth to my ear as he grabbed me by the back of the uniform and hauled me to my feet. “I shall respond in kind.”

My eyes bugged. “What?! But I wasn’t—!”

He threw me none-too-gently in the direction of the retreating group. I landed face-first on the craggy rocks—my body folding in and crumpling on itself, every inch of me singing with pain.

Tears sprang to my eyes.

“Don’t you dare,” a feminine voice hissed from the depths of my clothes. “Don’t you dare shed a tear. Where do you think you are, girl? Happy Daisy Fairy Land?! This is hell! The slightest trace of weakness here will get you devoured, killed, or worse!”

What could fucking be worse than those two options?! I raised my head, latching on to half a dozen faces who were watching me with growing snarls. And why do I have a feeling that whatever worse is... they’re planning to do just that.

“Get up,” she hissed. “Now!”

I got up. Feet bleeding, face ground up, and two fingers assuredly broken, I got to my feet and crossed the short length of the valley to the waiting group of monsters.

The sky was different in hell. There wasn’t so much sunlight as there was glowing, flickering light from millions of fires burning across the realm. It filled the air with a heavy, acrid taste and smell that made every breath ache.

I looked around for a single living, green thing anywhere, but there was nothing. Nothing in the valley but hard, cracked, scorched earth, billowing smoke, and a hundred-foot-high cliff face that cleaved the flat valley in two, and denied us view or access to the other side.

We were a group of about fifty or so. I walked through the gates of Abaddon for what I thought was orientation, but before I could touch the steps leading to the main doors, Erlik barked at me to hurry the fuck up and join the rest of the fresh meat gathered around the statue of a half man, half goat.

He told us to follow him because our entrance trials began immediately. He also said there wasn’t any point in learning each other’s names until they were complete. He was right. Because before the trials started...

...there were a hundred of us.

The clomp, clomp, clomp of Master Erlik’s hooves echoed in our ears as loud as the faint screams carried in from every direction.

Erlik was a handsome man—demon—for all that his bottom half was snatched off an animal. He had a strong, scruffy jaw; a wicked grin; and bright, tantalizing ruby-red eyes. He had the face of every bad boy who told you straight to your face that your attempt to change him would only result in him ruining your life.
It’s Allisa’s turn to find out what it means to have a Papi of her own.

Allisa’s life is not what she’d hoped for. She’s always been the good girl. To please her parents, she graduated from college and landed a job at a prestigious marketing firm. But she hates the job, and the owner’s son is stalking her. Deep inside, she secretly longs for a life she would never verbalize out loud.

Crogor is pleased to realize that his mate is already familiar with the lifestyle he will expect her to embrace. She’s eager to obey him and enjoys the rewards.

Their connection is strong, and things quickly escalate. Allisa finds herself in a more intense version of the coveted way of life she hoped for. Is it too much?

Prepare to travel through the stars only if you’re brave enough to learn about oversized Papis and survive their very intimate care

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Allisa

“I’m going,” I insist as I toss my blouse on the floor and unzip my pencil skirt. I’ve already kicked off my black pumps, and I don’t make eye contact with my friends as I rummage through my closet.

Kate groans. “Allisa… This is a terrible idea.”

“I agree,” Mary chimes in. “Do you or do you not recall what happened just a few months ago when Bailey stepped into Club Zoom?”

I spin around, holding up a pale pink dress. “Oh, I remember just fine. That’s why I’m going.” I toss the dainty, risqué dress on my bed and head for my chest of drawers. In seconds, I’m able to locate and grab my favorite pale pink bra and panty set.

While my best friends watch, I remove the white professional bra and panties I wore to work today, leaving me naked. We’ve been roommates for over four years. We’re not modest with each other.

“Allisa…” Mary continues, “Let’s talk about this.”

I shake my head as I put on the sexy pink lingerie set. Next, I pull the dress over my head and smooth down the front. I bought this dress months ago, but I’ve never worn it. The style is called babydoll. The top is covered with delicate lace and fitted across my chest. The sleeves are one-inch straps of silk and lace. The skirt begins below my breasts and hangs in a flowy sheer tulle over a thin layer of silk.

Just as I did in the fitting room when I bought the dress, I stand in front of the full mirror on the back of my closet and smile. I haven’t smiled much lately, but this dress makes me do so now.

Kate comes up behind me, meeting my gaze in the mirror. Her brow is furrowed. “Bailey went to Club Zoom, and we never saw her again. We don’t even know for sure what happens to the women who are chosen from the club. All we know is they vanish from Earth. Literally. Is that a risk you’re willing to take?”

“Yes.” I don’t hesitate as I bend down to look for my silver sandals. Spotting them quickly, I snag them by the rear straps and hop up onto my bed to put them on.

Mary leans against the wall in my bedroom, biting into a nail. “Is it that bad at work?”

“Yes,” I say bluntly. “Worse.” I shudder as I slide off the bed and head for the attached bathroom. My hair has been in a tight bun on top of my head all day. I pull out the pins to alleviate the pressure, leaving the high ponytail so that the blond curls tumble down around my shoulders.

After applying some bubblegum lip gloss, I push past my two well-meaning friends to return to the mirror.

“Why did you change?” Kate asks softly. “You looked fine in the professional skirt and blouse.”

I stare at myself. I absolutely love this look. It’s me. The stuffy buttoned-up clothes I wear to work are not my style. This is. It’s something I discovered about myself recently. There’s a term for the kind of kink I crave, and I have never discussed it with my friends. Not a single word. I don’t think they would understand.

I’m going out tonight. I’m doing so in the clothes that make me feel comfortable. Feel like myself. I’m not the prim-and-proper businesswoman I spent four years preparing for. I don’t fit in. I hate my job. I hate everything about it. And I especially hate the asshole who’s been stalking me since I started working there.

This dress is adorable.

It suits my inner Little. The persona I’ve never let out. The one who doesn’t fit in with vanilla society.

The only reason I know about my newfound age-play kink is because I started reading books. After graduation, I had more time on my hands and discovered romance novels. It was an accident that I happened to read a book about Daddies and Littles. But I saw myself in that book and devoured it overnight.

The next day at work, I was exhausted, but I was also trembling from the discovery and watching the clock until five so I could race home, buy another book, and consume it within hours, too.

I’m addicted to the genre and the lifestyle. I even went out and bought this dress because it made me feel Little.

It’s not like other adults don’t dress like this. They do. Babydoll dresses are popular, and no one will bat an eye over me wearing one that’s particularly dainty and pink. Sure, most women would probably pair this dress with heels, but I’m not most women, and I’ve been wearing heels all day. I’m sticking with the sandals.

“Did Bradley do something particularly annoying today?” Mary asks.

I wince. Bradley Metford. Fucking asshole. He’s the owner’s son and the biggest dick on the planet. The man spotted me on the first day I started working for the marketing firm, and he hasn’t stopped following me around since. He’s my stalker.
It’s going to take my pups in her belly.

Publisher’s Note: His Runaway Mate is a standalone romance that includes spankings, rough, intense sexual scenes, and strong D/s themes. If such material offends you, please don’t read this book

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER 1

Rex

I haven’t been at work in weeks, and my suit feels too tight. I have stuffed myself into it and now I am bulging at the seams because my muscles have gotten too accustomed to being in my wolf form in the wild.

“We could have it tailored, sir.” Fescue frowns at me with an expression of deep concern. “I believe there are still emergency tailors.”

Fescue comes from the south of England. He is a tall man, with a very smooth face and an even smoother demeanor. He is younger than me by a good decade, and yet somehow manages to throw his weight around. When I became alpha of the Regent pack, he was my servant. Over time, he has become my effective second in command.

That does not stop him from having all manner of opinions when it comes to fashion.

I tolerate it because he keeps me civilized, and doing that is a practically impossible task. Before Fescue got here I was far more animal than man, and the pack was suffering for it.

He’s one of several checks and balances I have instituted over the years in an effort to improve things. When my father died, we were nothing. Less than a dozen mangy wolves working the docks and hoping not to be noticed on a full moon.

It is different now.

I am standing on the thirty-third floor of the Regent building, and every floor of this place is occupied with pack business. We run one of the largest shipping channels on the globe, moving almost everything almost everywhere. We are strategically placed to have alliances at every level of industry and government. I find myself moving in circles I could never have dreamed of when I was whelped on a cold warehouse floor thirty-eight years ago.

So I let Fescue be pedantic, and I ask him a question I very much already know the answer to.

“It’s not that bad, is it?”

“You look as though you are about to rip it off and attend a WWE match as one of the wrestlers, sir,” he says.

He doesn’t mean it as a compliment.

He might be right, though. My hair has grown too, it’s thick and down to my shoulders and I know he wants it to be back in the corporate cut that helps me blend in better with the rest of the world, but I think I like it this way. Less fuss.

I turn back and forth in front of the mirror, already knowing he is right, but also loathing the idea of putting work off for an emergency tailor’s appointment.

“Don’t I have anything less fitting?”

“By all means, sir, you could wear sweatpants, or…” His lip curls derisively. “Jeans. Or, if you prefer, you could run about naked as the day you were born. Why not. If nothing matters, then nothing matters.”

The way Fescue pronounces the word jeans somehow puts a ‘u’ in there between the J and the E in a way that does not feel good.

“Very well,” I sigh. “Call the tailor. I will tend to business via phone until I am decent enough to leave the house.”

“I could also call a barber? Sir?” He puts two questions in one sentence in the hopes I will not notice he is telling me what to do. Unfortunately for him, my radar for dominance challenges is pretty well calibrated.

“No, thank you, Fescue,” I say. “I think you’ve pushed matters enough for one morning.”

“Very good, sir,” he says, his tone suggesting it is only halfway good, and he’s going to be suffering until he sees my hair cut. I let him suffer. A little of that is good for him.

“If you keep mentioning the barber, I’ll tie my hair up in a man bun, Fescue,” I threaten.

He gives me a horrified look and departs.

I chuckle to myself. I do miss the wilds. The open spaces. The way I, and everyone with me, can be as free and as feral as we care to be.

It’s important to spend time in the city too. We have to maintain our position. You cannot ever truly rest when you are in business. Someone else is always trying to move in on your territory.

And that is why I’m back early.

I had planned to take six months off to run wild. Half a year, spring through summer. The pack keeps nudging me to take a mate and breed her and I was hoping I’d find a suitable female out in the reserves we purchased and put aside for our use, and the use of other friendly packs.

There are a hundred thousand acres of forest, mountain, and stream for us to explore. I’ve opened it up to other packs, and it has become a fundamental part of the breeding ecosystem for our kind. Inbreeding because packs are too small is a real issue, and having a place where wolf shifters can be who they are without fear of a bullet or worse, a scientific investigation, is crucial to our survival.
Set in a steamy, neon-lit, high-tech world of magic, money, and explosive desire, this sultry, dark fairytale retelling offers a dystopian romantasy twist on Cinderella.

ELLA
It’s the wedding of the year—a lavish union of two powerhouses. But I’m only here for vengeance against the woman who stole my position as sole heir to my late father’s company, TimeGem Moments, and shipped me off to boarding school. I’ve only made more enemies since. Tonight is my chance to reclaim control. Tonight, TimeGem’s diamond-powered servers are this girl’s best friend. Unless he ruins everything. Justice Beathach, the groom’s unbearably hot brother, with hands built for war and a mouth that spells destruction. He’s lethal, unyielding, and now has me in his crosshairs . . .

JUSTICE
Ella Rendale almost killed my brother once. Now, at his own wedding, she’s almost done it again. I don’t care if he’s forgiven her or if she’s been wronged. I care about one thing: the locked flash drive she leaves behind, spelling my destruction. She can run, she can hide, but when I find her, she’ll give me what I want. But someone else wants her even more than I do—they want her dead. When our enemies close in, I’m forced to protect her, turning the fire between us into an uncontrollable weapon. Now, she’s not just my quarry—she’s my obsession. And I’ll kill anyone who even thinks of taking her from me . . .

*** DELUXE SPECIAL EDITION HARDCOVER with stenciled edges, reversible dust jacket, foil stamping, and designed endpapers! ***

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

ONE

Ella

Justice … yeah, he looks dangerous. Jet-black hair, broad shoulders stretching the seams of his suit, gaze constantly scanning the room. I feel a little sorry that I tried to kill his brother not too long ago. Thorn survived—barely—and the only reason I’m still breathing is because he’d bend reality to keep Alana safe, and she loves me. My death would hurt her, so I get to stay alive.

Which is a good thing, because there are more guns in this opulent pavilion than actual people.

I tear my gaze away from Justice and take a sip of champagne. The expensive brew is a crisp, floral, bubbly delight that tickles the roof of my mouth as I try to count how many bodyguards are lurking around the place. I give up after twenty. This is ridiculous.

Then I purposefully avoid looking at Justice and glance over at Alana. My best friend. The newly crowned Mrs. Thorn Beathach.

Her beauty practically fills the whole room, like light refracting off a diamond. She has sparkling eyes, thick, dark hair cascading down her back, and cheekbones that are sharp yet feminine. She’s glowing. Literally. Maybe it’s the chandeliers catching her earrings, or the champagne catching up to me. Could go either way.

Her man is danger in a suit with a scar across his face that’s a clear warning sign.

They’re a striking couple: beautiful and terrifying in equal measure. Like a rose with steel thorns and a body count.

She holds up her phone and makes a post, probably on her family’s social media platform, Aquarius Social. She’s the biggest influencer in the country, with a platform that allows people to share emotions. Considering she’s radiating happiness, she’s spreading a lot of love right now.

Soft music winds through the air that sounds like delicate and expensive strings. My shoulders roll back, irritated by a persistent, uncomfortable itch down my spine. My quite bitchy stepmother must be nearby. And, bingo. There she is with the stepsisters, loitering near the buffet where most of the bachelors are filling their plates. My stepmother and sisters are just pretending to pick at things. Performance dining.

I shake my head.

“You really could smile a little,” Rosalie says beside me, her voice warm and dry with amusement.

I half turn to take her in. Rosalie wears a deep sapphire gown that hugs her like it was sewn on by angels. The color makes the impossible blue of her eyes even more shocking. Ethereal, but in a way that says she could still stab you with a heel if it came to it.

“I am smiling,” I tell her.

We match tonight in the same gown, same shade. Except I’m many inches shorter, and mine doesn’t quite flow as gracefully. But my blonde hair is curled just right around my shoulders, and my makeup’s on point. I feel acceptable. Like I might belong here. If I squint. “I can’t believe you’re here talking to me all by yourself.”

Rosalie rolls her eyes. “Don’t be silly.”

I scan the room again. Glittering gowns brush the marble floors, and tuxedos prowl past like sleek predators. Laughter hums just under the music. I catch sight of Alexei Sokolov by the bar. He’s partially turned, but his gaze flicks in our direction. Direct. Calculating. Possessive.

“Oh, there he is,” I murmur. “I’m surprised he let you out of his sight for long.”

Rosalie laughs, soft but rich. “He is a mite overprotective.” Right. Like the leader of the Russian mob is just a bit protective.

“How many guns does he have on him, anyway?”

“I don’t know,” she says.

I glance toward the exits, from doorway to doorway, cataloging shadows and broad shoulders. I count at least two mafia guys at each exit. The Russian half are Alexei’s, and the Irish ones are Thorn’s. Then a few more are scattered throughout.

Yeah. Glitter, music, silk, and enough firepower to start a small war. Just another Saturday night.

Alexei and Thorn own two of the most powerful social media companies in the world and also run mafia-like organizations with enough reach to make FBI agents cry into their keyboards. Charming, really. Alana’s family owns the third out of four major companies.

Technically, I should own the fourth. Should. But my stepmother’s still clinging to it with her clawed fingers and Botox-smoothed smugness. That’s temporary, though. The clock’s ticking, and she doesn’t even hear it. Unless she finally succeeds in getting me killed, and then she wins.

I can’t let that happen.

A couple dances past us, the woman’s golden gown billowing out and catching innocent ankles like a weaponized fabric storm. Strings hum from somewhere above like music’s just floating down from the cosmos, or a luxury sound system pretending to be heaven.

I’m ready to get out of the gown and into my yoga pants. Even though I grew up an heiress in one of the wealthiest families of all time, my stepmother shipped me off to a boarding school in the middle of nowhere, with no fancy celebrations or even cake. I’m more comfortable by myself in comfy clothes with a computer in front of me. But I know my role, so I smile for anybody looking or filming. “I’m still surprised Thorn agreed to have the wedding reception on Alana’s father’s property.” The pavilion’s gorgeous, sure, but Thorn doesn’t exactly scream let’s compromise. The man radiates control-freak energy in his sleep.

Princess Emilia Vlădescu

Crypt Castle, Kingdom of Bloodreach

You shall bear one hundred babes in one hundred years…

The king’s decree rang through the nearly empty court, tolling in Lia’s ears.

“Why?” she choked out. “Why would you curse me like this?” She’d been perfect, dutiful and compliant for all her twenty-two years.

“Curse?” King Neculain leaned back in his throne. “You will ensure the future of our species. Vampires shall revere your name for eons.”

She usually avoided her father’s gaze, but now Lia forced herself to look up through the haze of bloodroot incense that clung to every stone of this castle. It burned her lungs. Or maybe that was fear. “I don’t understand.”

“The Berserkers will war with us this Accession.” He flashed his fangs, red eyes widening. “They must. Many remain just on the cusp of immortality.”

Those bear-spirit warriors earned immortality through slaughter. Killing was prayer to them.

And vampires were their favorite offering—payback long owed, a debt written in arterial spray.

“I can’t fathom why they haven’t already stormed this rich castle.” Neculain cast a disgusted look at his oldest son and heir, Prince Coștin, who stood beside his throne. “Under your watch, the army has faded in number and strength. You think I don’t know what outsiders call you? The General of Nothing! We are the great Horde no longer.”

Coștin rested his hand on the golden sword at his side, his own eyes reddened like banked embers. Though he was a decent swordsman—a rarity—he ruled nothing, not even his own appetites.

And Father wasn’t wrong. Training halls stood empty while the vampires drowned in blood orgies and intoxispells. Even their teleportation had withered, lost to decadence.

But in fairness to her monstrous brother, the rot had festered long before his birth five centuries ago.

Coștin’s attention locked on her again. As he stared, he sliced his tongue on a fang. Eyes promising horror, he hollowed his cheeks and nursed his own blood.

She shuddered. Will I never be free of his threat?

He believed she was his destined Bride. Lia hadn’t awakened his dead heart, but he’d decided she was too young to “blood” him.

Unlike all their fair-haired siblings, she and Coștin resembled each other as closely as fraternal twins—the same pale skin, black hair, and amber eyes, though bloodlust tainted his. Perhaps he’d fixated on her due to her likeness: because his truest obsession had always been himself.

She’d been fourteen when he’d first tried to kiss her. Against her neck, he’d grunted, You are everything to me, sprung from the same womb and seed. As she thrashed, he’d commanded her, Wake my body, soră mea, so I can use it on you.

“When the Berserker attack comes,” Father continued, oblivious, “you’ll be safe in the blood crypt.”

This snapped Lia’s focus from Coștin. “You’re going to…to seal me in?” Deep beneath the castle lay a cave no force could breach, its stone walls weeping endless blood. “For how long?”

“Until the birth of your hundredth. Until our elite army is complete.”

Lia rocked on her feet. Would she be maddened by the twentieth babe? The fiftieth? She’d be only halfway done! “This is insane. Insects have fewer offspring!”

“This is my will. And you shall heed it.”

No courtiers witnessed his decree—only Coștin, Queen Sereth, and the blank-eyed donors that slumped against the wall.

Sereth sat in her throne beside Neculain’s like a soulless doll, smoothing her blond hair.

“Mother,” Lia said, voice breaking, “please, you can’t let him.”

Sereth gave a testy sigh. “He’s the king.”

Blood tears pricked Lia’s eyes. Her mother had been a broodmare too—fourteen children in five hundred years—and had never resisted her fate. Hadn’t even pretended to want more. “Who will accompany me?” Lia demanded of her father, swiping away tears. “Do I get to pick which stud violates me?” She had never dreamed of speaking to him this way, but what did she have to lose?

Irritation crossed Neculain’s sharp features, his black brows knitting. “I will choose noble males. You’ll test the first babe. If it lacks your gift, you’ll mate with another.”

Her cursed “gift” was exactly the reason she shouldn’t be locked in the crypt!

Coștin frowned. So he hadn’t known. Or worse—thought he should be the sire.

Lia told her father, “I’m not yet fixed into my immortal form, can’t even regenerate. Childbirth could kill me.”

“With my lineage, you will be hardy.” He planned to cage and breed his youngest child like an animal, like the blood donors.

Her gaze flicked to them. They donate nothing. Covered in bite marks, the Berserker mortals sagged against the far wall of the court, made docile with intoxicants.

Everyone in her family drank from them except her. Spittoons lined the walls to receive flesh if a bite landed too deep. Which often killed the Berserkers.

Her mother was infamous for those deaths, had reddened her eyes without ever hunting. Some whispered that she dreamed her victims’ bloodborne memories like stolen prayers.
Only men are allowed to become Dragon Riders…too bad I’m not a man.

When my twin brother dies before he can claim his place at the Drake Academy, I do the only thing I can. I cut off my hair, bind my breasts, steal his name…and take his place. If anyone discovers I’m really Aurora Lysandra instead of “Auri” Lysander, I’ll lose everything—including my chance to bond with a dragon.

As if pretending to be a boy wasn’t difficult enough, my Wing Leader, Ryse Skoren, keeps making my life even harder. He’s the most feared Rider in the Academy, rumored to have dragon blood in his veins, and he’s determined to whip me into shape. Every morning he drags me out to train before dawn. Every evening he makes sure I eat every bite of the Academy’s famous Dragon Custard. He watches over me, protects me…and somehow manages to make me feel safer than I’ve ever felt in my life.

There’s just one problem…Ryse thinks I’m a boy and he doesn’t understand why he feels so possessive of me.

But while I’m struggling to keep my secret, something ancient is awakening beneath the mountains. The dragons are growing restless. The Madlings—nightmarish creatures thought to have vanished centuries ago—are stirring once more. And a forgotten golden egg has begun calling my name. If I answer its call, my carefully guarded secret won’t be the only thing revealed…

Because some dragons were never meant to be ridden—they were born to rule.
And only a Queen can lead them out of darkness.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

AURORA

I never dreamed of flying until my brother died.

I nursed him through the fever that took him. It refused to take me, though I was with him night and day by the end. I had hoped we might go together into the long night—we had entered the world together as twins, after all and should leave it in the same way—but I never even felt the slightest bit unwell. Our father had ended himself the year before and so when Auren was gone, I had no one.

Death is cruel sometimes, to take the ones we love and leave us to our loneliness.

After Auren passed the dreams began. I lived through the days in a haze of grief but all night, every night, I was soaring and diving, flying through the air on the back of a dragon—a dragon with golden scales who could exist only in my dreams.

I say that because there have been no pure gold dragons in centuries but also because there are no female dragon riders. Those of the female sex simply aren’t compatible with dragons, so it made no sense that the flying dreams would come to me.

But they came anyway—those dreams that only males with the right bloodlines can have. Those who possess the blood of the ancient Dragon Riders who freed our lands from the Madlings long ago.

Auren had just begun having the dreams before the fever started—he spoke to me of them and I remember fearing that I would lose him when the Academy came calling.

And then I lost him anyway—only to the fever instead.

In the dreams, I knew just what to do—how to guide the vast beast under me, which ducked and rolled and soared through the sky on wings so wide I couldn’t see their tips as they stretched out on either side, skimming the clouds.

But how could that be? The dreams made no sense. I’m a woman—incompatible with dragonkind—why would they come to me?

I had no answers, but the dreams didn’t stop. I didn’t begin to understand the implications until a knock came on the front door a month later…

2

AURORA

I was wearing my brother’s clothes when I opened the door.

I had given up dresses during the time I nursed him—it was difficult enough climbing up and down the mountain, carrying the water I needed so desperately to bathe him and make him broth, without worrying about tripping on long skirts. And after he was gone, there was no one to see me, so I kept wearing his clothing for comfort—they smelled like him. I missed him desperately and the worn fabric made me feel closer to the other half of myself—the half that was now nothing but an aching void.

I opened the door, wondering who it could be. My ancestral home was located on a cliff’s edge—who would make the strenuous journey without a good reason? We never got peddlers or salesmen—it was just too much trouble to climb the mountainside for a fallen Great House known to be destitute. There was no money to spend—no reason to come.

The man outside was middle aged, with short brown hair going gray at the temples and a huge, poufy mustache. He was dressed in a uniform that was familiar—I had seen my father wear it when I was younger. The golden dragon crest on his sleeve made my eyes widen.

“Yes?” I asked, uncertain what he could want. “Can I help you?”

“’Course you can, lad. You can come with me—you’re of age now so it’s time.”

“Time? Time for what? What are you talking about?” I took a step back, but he took me by the wrist and pulled me out onto the broad ledge that served as our front step.

I fell forward with a gasp and saw there was someone else on the ledge—a small brown dragon about twice the size of a horse, who snorted when he saw me.

Brown—the least in size and status. Not very intelligent but can be diligent workers and loyal companions. Riders who impress a brown drake at hatching will usually end up in the Courier Service arm of the Academy, whispered a voice in my brain. And there wasn’t even a speckling of gold anywhere on his dull scales. He would hold the lowest ranking among his kind.

It was all from the Book of Drakes that my brother and I had found among our father’s things when we were younger. We had studied that book—memorizing whole passages, desperate for knowledge of the world that took our father away for so much of the year and fascinated by what we learned.

“Someday I’ll Impress an egg and bond with a dragon. Not just any dragon either—one of Royal lineage,” Auren used to boast to me. “I’ll be a rider like Father—I’m going to fly a Silver-wing dragon or maybe even a Gold-wing—you’ll see!”
There’s no escaping the pull of desire in this novel in #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan’s Torpedo Ink motorcycle club series.

When Czar shut down Lazar “Keys” Alexeev’s undercover mission, that should have been the end of the story. Instead, Keys is back in the middle of a nowhere town where a petite redhead with a pouty mouth and a ready smile drives him to distraction. He’s not sure why he’s breaking all of Torpedo Ink’s rules to spend more time around a woman who’s not even his type. He can’t get her out of his head—and now he’s facing the consequences.

Lyric Johansen doesn’t like to look anyone in the eyes, but Keys’s gaze is the one thing keeping her from a full-on panic attack. Her instinct to charge into the fray and help the biker fend off a group of vicious thugs has led to the most insane situation she’s ever been trapped in a coffin with a man she barely knows, minutes away from a painful death.

Survival means staying focused. But when Keys kisses Lyric to snap her out of losing it, he’s the one who ends up falling apart. He’ll need to unleash hell to get them out alive.

If only to get another taste….

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

One

It was rather ironic that Lazar “Keys” Alexeev had been undercover for three solid months and not one incident had occurred. There had been no leads to find. No criminal activity that he could sniff out, and he was excellent at that. After three months of absolutely nothing, Czar, the president of Torpedo Ink, his motorcycle club, had shut down the mission.

It sure as fuck should have ended there, but like an idiot he’d returned to that little nothing town in the middle of nowhere on the pretense of getting his hair cut. Then he spent time there he shouldn’t have because he was breaking every rule Torpedo Ink had. Now he was facing the consequences.

There was nothing like waking up with a blinding headache in a coffin-sized box with holes drilled in it so you knew there was torture coming. Hands behind his back with idiotic cuffs he was out of in about two point three seconds. But the best—or worst—was he was lying on top of another body.

Female for damned sure. He’d know a female body if he were half-dead. His head was pounding like a mother, so it was possible he was close. He’d been close many, many times, and he was still alive. Mistake on their part. Bashing him in the head and throwing him in a box with the intention of torturing him later was just about the fuckup of all fuckups.

He took a breath and let it out slowly, almost afraid of checking out the woman lying beneath him. She was very slight, and that told him who she was. He’d known her for that first three months and had been coming back for an additional two—so five months. She wasn’t his type at all. He preferred women with tits and ass and lots of experience. He didn’t give a damn if they were married or not. They had taken marriage vows they were willing to break, so what difference did it make to him? Pussy was pussy.

But there was Lyric Johansen. She made no sense to him. None. Zero. Nothing about her made sense. It wasn’t that she didn’t have a figure—she did, mostly because she had that little tucked-in waist. The rest of her was tiny. Dinky. She wore clothes that completely covered any assets that she had. She was incredibly strong. She climbed boulders and did all kinds of backpacking. Alone. He’d seen her a few times in clothes she wore to boulder and hike, and they showed her shapely legs and toned body. Mostly, she hid from the world in baggy sweaters and far-too-big jeans.

She wore a cap or scarf over her hair. That didn’t make sense either. He’d only seen her hair once. Just once. He’d gone to her shop early and had seen her through the window. She had the thickest, reddest hair he’d ever seen. Sheets and sheets of long, straight, glossy red. Not orange. Not blond red but a real, almost ruby red. He doubted anyone, even a brilliant hairstylist like she was, could get that color. It had to be natural. From the first time he saw all that red, he’d wanted to drag down her panties and look to see what she was hiding. But she was everything he didn’t want or need.

Now she was lying so still, he couldn’t detect the rise and fall of her chest beneath him. He knew that if she was dead, he was going to go on a killing spree to end all killing sprees. He swore under his breath and maneuvered his body in the tight space so his hips were cradled in hers and he could press his ear to her chest.

“You’d better be alive, Wildfire. If you’re not, this dumbfuck town is going to be razed to the ground. Wake the hell up.”

To his relief, he felt the slight lift of her chest beneath his ear. The relief was ridiculous, completely out of proportion for a man like him. He didn’t care about much other than his club and fellow club members. Even then, he was more of a lone wolf than anyone realized, even men he considered brothers and his closest friends.

Women came too easily to him, and his body was always demanding he indulge. And he did. Sometimes several women in a day. He didn’t care about them, and they didn’t care about him. He was good at what he did, and there was mutual satisfaction—most of the time. Truth he never wanted to admit to himself nagged at him—sometimes he was bored out of his mind. Maybe lately it was more often than he was satisfied.

He didn’t understand why he’d come back alone to spend time in the town. Spend time getting a haircut. Going to the country bar that made him grit his teeth at the amateurish music that was often more enthusiastic than on key. But he did know this particular woman was a pain in the ass, and he spent far too much time thinking about her.

Resonance is supposed to be like finding your other half.
I’m not sure how that’s going to work, considering that I already feel like I’m only half of who I’m supposed to be. I’ve lost my memories of Earth. I can only recall fragments of a rich cultural heritage that I want back more than I want to resonate.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.
Instead of returning my memories, fate has decided that I should resonate to cat-like Valmir, the most unlikable gladiator stranded on this planet alongside the human clones. He thinks I should take him to my furs, but I think I’d rather fling myself into the ocean. To stall the inevitable, I make a honey-do list for Valmir. If he completes a task for me, I’ll let him win a bit of my attention. A flirty touch here, a quick caress there. It’ll buy me time to figure out who I really am.

And in the meantime, it’s rather fun to make Valmir squirm

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER 1

APRIL

When Liz first pulls me aside to have a talk, I play it cool. I keep my smile bright and my eyes wide and open, like I'm the most innocent angel who ever fell to Earth. You don't want to get on Liz's bad side. I beam at everyone as if nothing is wrong as she pulls me away from the group by the fire. The urge to extend my thumb and pinky and shake them comes over me, but I stop myself, because I'm not sure why I want to do that.

I keep smiling instead. Nothing to see here! Just two chicks having a chat before lunch.

The looks of wild interest on the others' faces as we leave tell me they're not buying it. The tribe loves a good bit of gossip. And as Liz tugs me behind a hut and faces me, the scowl she wears tells me she's not buying my innocent act, either. She crosses her arms over her chest and gives me a focused look. "So. What's this I hear about a list?"

It's hard not to be intimidated by Liz. Not because of her size — she's shorter than me and I'm more strongly built. It's the bravado inside her that's terrifying. If she were an animal, she'd be a pua'a — the wild island pig is fierce, fearless, and ready to tear you apart at the first sign of weakness. She's the boss you don't want to answer to...and while there are no bosses here on this hellishly cold planet we've been abandoned on, Liz more or less runs the show at the encampment.

You don't want to be on her radar.

Which is why I keep smiling, putting the slightest puzzled expression on my face. "I don't know what you're talking about." Gesturing behind me, I continue. "It's my turn to cook lunch—"

"Bzzt. Wrong answer." She eyes me with a sharp, menacing stare, and I change her internal animal from a pua'a to an owl. No, that doesn't sound scary enough. Something watchful and vicious? A velociraptor, I decide. She's definitely a velociraptor. Liz points a finger in my face. "We both know exactly what I mean."

"I really don't," I protest with a light chuckle I hope she's buying.

Her khui-blue eyes glow with leader-like malevolence, offset by her permanently pink nose. "Come off it, April. I know something is up. It's a small tribe."

"You were just saying yesterday that the tribe was enormous—"

"Bzzt! Wrong answer again!" She snaps her hand at me as if I'm an insect she's snatching from midair. "I know something is up. Everyone does. You made Valmir go off on some wild goose chase and now he's in there with the healer, getting his ankle re-broken so it can heal properly."

I do my best not to wince at that, because I do feel bad. Really bad.

And responsible.

It was my idea, all right. I was the one who sent him out there to go and find me a plant that grows up high in the mountains. He was supposed to bring it back to me, roots and all, so I could plant it for myself. Didn't happen. Valmir fell into a pit trap, got taken by metlaks and their leader Corvak, and ended up captive for several days. Thanks to the super-healing of the khui, Valmir's ankle mended far too fast and now the healer, Veronica, must set it again.

It is my fault. I mean, it's also Corvak's fault for digging a pit trap, but I was the one who sent Valmir out there.

"So tell me why Valmir was days away from camp and in the mountains?" Liz demands.

"Hunting?" I reply innocently.

"We both know it wasn't hunting," she continues. "So 'fess up."

I'm determined to ride this conversation into the ground, like so many of my choices. "Liz, gosh, I really don't know what you mean—"

The smaller woman (with velociraptor energy) puts her hand in the air again, stopping me. "I knew you were going to cockblock me in this conversation, so I went to him. Valmir isn't saying what happened, either. Isn't that interesting?"

I keep my face blank and bright-eyed.

"So you know what I did?" Liz continues. "I went to Skarr."

"Fuck," I say aloud, unable to help myself.

"Exactly." Her expression turns smug. "Everyone's favorite braggart spilled the beans on what his buddy has been up to, and he spilled weeks ago. I've been waiting for you to 'fess up on your own, but since that doesn't seem to be happening, I thought we should talk. I know about the list. You're making Valmir do stupid tasks so he can win stupid prizes. Namely, your pussy."

I wince. When she boils it down like that, it does sound rather terrible. Her rendition is so far off from the reality that I feel the need to explain myself. "That's not it at all. Skarr doesn't know what he's talking about, and Valmir asked me for a list."
