Please be gentle, I begged. But in the forest, anything can happen.
My parents pissed me off. They’re rich people who only care about the material things in life.
Even worse, my parents were embarrassed about my weight and wanted to send me to diet camp!
So I ran away. But the forest is filled with animals. In particular, there’s a huge mountain man rumored to be living deep in the woods.
He’s got sharp yellow eyes, curved talons, and teeth that will eat a young girl. Even more, he’s virile.
So much so that I can’t help myself.
It’s the perfect way to piss my parents off. Imagine that: me with the wild beast, my soft form clutched tight in those brawny arms.
But what happens when he gets me pregnant?

Books by Author:

Cassandra Dee Books

Sarah May Book

1

Emma

“Hey, keep up!” Travis yells. “We’re just getting started!”

A bead of sweat drips down my forehead and I stumble on the ground, nearly losing my balance and falling right on my ass.

“Okay!” I yell back, trying to sound cheery and happy. “Sounds good!”

With a whoop of boyish enthusiasm, Travis disappears into a clump of trees. Branches and twigs snap loudly as he moves away into the distance. For a moment, I think about stopping and leaning against the trunk of a tree. There’s a big one right next to me, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more comfortable place to recline.

“Emma, come on!”

With one more reluctant glance at the tree, I take a deep breath and push forward. The muscles in my thighs are burning and my narrow chest is heaving with every breath, but I can’t stop now. I have to keep going if I want to keep up with Travis.

Breaking into a jog, I finally catch him. God, he looks so hot right now – his green eyes are glinting in the sun and his muscles are rippling under his t-shirt.

I wonder when he’s going to drop this stupid hiking act and kiss me.

“So,” I pant. “This is fun.”

Travis eyes me and snorts. “Yeah,” he echoes, glancing down at his watch.

“I’m not really the biggest fan of hiking,” I say. “But when you asked me, I couldn’t say no.” I bite my lip and try to look as kissable as I can.

Travis turns to me and frowns. He rakes a hand through his blonde hair and shakes his head. “Oh yeah?”

“Yeah,” I reply. An awkward flush spreads along my cheeks.

It’s true, too – only an idiot would have said no. Travis Peterson is the hottest guy at school – all the girls I know are dying to go out with him.

“Well, I’m glad you came,” Travis says. He gives me a suggestive look and my heart lurches to the side.

Finally, I think happily as I smile back at Travis. The whole time we’ve been hiking, I’ve been wondering when Travis is finally going to make a move. I mean, there’s no way he brought me out here because he actually wanted to hike. For one thing, no one would mistake me for an athletic girl – I’m big and curvy. Pretty much the opposite of athletic.

Besides, who goes hiking on a first date?

My heart thuds as Travis steps closer. His hand brushes my shirt and for a moment, I think I’m going to lose it. I haven’t ever been out with a guy like Travis before, and I don’t want to screw this up.

“You’ve got some dirt on you,” Travis growls. He frowns as he brushes my shirt with his fingers.

I stand waiting, holding my breath. Kiss me, darn it! Ignore the dirt! Who cares about that?

“Come on,” Travis says. He throws a glance over his shoulder. “Let’s keep going.”

Disappointment swells in my chest and I force a smile on my face. “I was thinking maybe we could rest for a while?” I ask. “My feet are starting to hurt.”

Travis glances down at my shoes. “You should have worn hiking boots,” he says dismissively. “Come on!” Then, without waiting for my reply, he sprints off into the woods.

Shit.

“Coming!” I call weakly. At this point, I’m almost wishing that I’d said no when Travis asked me out….or at least asked him if we couldn’t do something other than hike. But then I remember that I’m with Travis and the thought is enough to get me moving again.

The rays of the sun overhead are hot and merciless. As I plod along after my very own Greek god, I can feel sweat beginning to trickle down my forehead. My tongue feels fat and dry in my mouth and my lips are cracked and blistered.

“Hey,” I say. “Travis, I need to stop for a second. I feel like I’m about to pass out.”

Travis groans and I flush awkwardly. To my relief, he stops walking and stretches his arms high over his head.

“We should really be making better time,” Travis says. “Don’t you want to see the falls?”

“I don’t know why you’re in such a hurry, it’s not like they’re going anywhere,” I grumble.

“Emma, they’re really pretty,” Travis says. “Everyone should see the view – it’s really something.”

His words fill me with sudden hope and I understand why he hasn’t kissed me yet – he’s waiting for the falls! My heart skips a beat and I grin.

“That sounds amazing,” I say, eyeing Travis flirtatiously. “I just need to take a short break.” Slinging my bag over my shoulder, I reach for my phone and check the screen. “Hey, I don’t get reception out here.”

Travis snorts. “Yeah, no shit,” he says. “You ready to keep going?”

I take my water bottle out and twist off the cap. To my dismay, the bottle is already mostly empty. But the water is like heaven in my mouth, even though it’s warm and tastes like chlorine. Besides, if the waterfall is as clean and beautiful as Travis insists, I can always fill up my bottle there.
It seemed a little weird when Charity handed me the plane ticket yesterday. She’d interviewed me just the week before for a hostess position at a private club, so I’d assumed I’d be staying local in New York.

“What is this?” I asked yesterday, staring dumbly at the white piece of paper.

“It’s a plane ticket, what else?” she said, rolling her eyes. “Haven’t you been on a plane before?”

I stare at the ticket in my hand.

“Yes, but I’ve never heard of Elite Air. Is that a branch of United Airlines, or American? I know they sometimes brand their puddle-jumpers differently. Or is this a budget airline that’s new?”

Charity snorted, wrinkling her nose.

“Hardly. Sweetheart, get a clue. This is the opposite of a budget airline – it’s a private flight that caters to the wealthy and powerful.”

I was still confused.

“I’m sorry? Private how? In what way?”

Now the middle-aged woman had had it. She rolled her eyes and blew her bangs out of her face with an exasperated puff of air.

“It’s private in that it’s not commercial, silly. When you were interviewing for this job, did you really think your bosses were going to fly commercial? Please, Ava. Get some common sense. I thought you were better than that.”

My mouth snapped shut at her admonishment. Of course, Charity was right. During the job interview, she’d told me that I’d be catering to rich people in a secluded setting, but I figured it meant I’d be working at an exclusive bar or club somewhere in New York City. By contrast, now I was being handed a plane ticket for a destination called Maruba.

“But where is Maruba?” I asked, still squinting at the paper. “It sounds like a tropical island.”

Charity sniffed.

“Because it is a tropical island, dummy. Maruba is a paradise owned by your employers because they don’t want to associate with “regular” people. You think the Four Seasons or the W is going to cut it for these folks? Or the British Virgin Islands or St. Bart’s? Hell no, sweetheart. These people are fabulously wealthy, and everything with them is shih-shih and totally exclusive. And you’re the one who’s going to make sure their every need is catered to.”

I nodded. That wasn’t a surprise to me. I was hired to be a hostess after all.

“Okay, no problem. So I should to be at the airport tomorrow morning, 6 a.m. sharp, right? I guess I should pack khaki shorts and polos? Sandals? Flip flops? Sunscreen?”

Charity rolled her eyes again.

“No, Ava. You really are clueless sometimes, you know that? You’re not a guest, so you won’t need to bring that stuff. Your employers will provide all the clothing needed. Just bring some undergarments, and that’ll be fine.”

I made a face.

“Not even a swimsuit?” I asked, feeling disappointed. If we were going to be on a tropical island, I was hoping that I’d at least have some time to myself for a dip in the ocean. Of course, I’d be working, but everyone gets days off, right?

Charity rolled her eyes again.

“Fine, bring a swimsuit,” she sniffed. “But remember, your employers can be very particular, so don’t be surprised by their requests.”

I could live with that. I’ve learned over the years that rich people can be eccentric, if not downright strange. But no matter. I just wanted some time off to enjoy the balmy island setting and hot tropical sun. After all, all work and no play makes Ava a very boring girl, and I wanted to spice up my life a bit.

But now I’m at the airport, or more accurately, the private airplane hangar at the Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, and my jaw drops almost to the floor.

“So this is it,” I say to myself, marveling at the sleek white plane waiting on the cement surface. It was smaller than your usual commercial jetliner and much thinner too, kind of like a white tube that flies through the skies. The words “Elite Air” were emblazoned on the side in elegant script and my eyes grew wide at the red carpet leading up the stairs.

“Is this really for me?” I asked.

A cheery voice sounded from behind me.

“Nope, it’s for us,” it said. I whirled around to see a curvy girl with long brown ringlets and rosy-red cheeks. “Hi, I’m Amelia,” she greeted, sticking her hand out. “Are you here for the trip to a private island?”

I nodded.

“Yeah, I just got hired.”

“Me too,” said Amelia. “And I can’t wait to par-tay now!”

I giggled despite myself.

“But wait, I thought we were going to work,” I said, confused. “I was hired to be a hostess. How about you?”

“Same,” she nodded with a grin. “Did you interview with Charity?”

“Yep,” I said. “But honestly, Charity didn’t tell me much. She said that our employer is quote-unquote ‘very private’ and that he would require quote-unquote ‘the utmost discretion.” Do you know what any of that means?”
Readjusting my bag, my eyes took in the horizon above a sandy beach. All that appeared was a pure blue sky filled with the endless possibilities of summer.

I couldn’t contain my joy.

“Dani!” a voice called.

I turned to the left, shielding my eyes. A girl with sleek blonde hair and a designer purse waved her hands wildly at me, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Justine!” I called back as I ran over to her. She flung her arms out as we literally crashed into each other, panting and laughing.

“I can’t believe you’re finally here!” Justine giggled. She pushed a smooth lock of hair off her forehead. “Are you ready for the best summer of your life?” There was a wicked grin on her face.

I smiled back at her. “It’s what I’ve been looking forward to all year.”

Justine looked around. “Is this all you brought?” she asked with a frown, pointing at the only bag on the sidewalk.

I looked down at my fairly large duffle and back at her. Putting my hands on my hips, I cocked my head.

“Why? Should I have brought more?”

“It’s fine,” Justine replied before giggling. “We can go shopping then, it’ll be fun,” she added with a meaningful look before looping her arm with mine. “How is your mom by the way? I still can’t believe she let you come. We’ve been working on her for so long that I thought it would never happen.”

I sighed. “She’s fine. I think Susan’s more okay with me coming now that I’m finally eighteen. She knows it’s my last summer of freedom. Who better to spend it with than my cousins?”

Justine smiled and squeezed my arm. She looked so different and yet so much like I remembered her. Justine is my cousin – her mother is my mom’s sister. We’re the same age and we were pretty close when we were younger. In fact, up until I was seven, we lived right next door to each other.

But everything changed after my dad got sick. He’d been a renowned chef with people coming from all over to eat his food. But after he passed away, there was a mountain of debt left over that my mother couldn’t recover from. It was a terrible time for our family, going from relative comfort to sudden emotional and financial devastation.

So my mom did what she had to do. She sold the house and most of our possessions, moving us to northern California where she took a job as a secretary for a small insurance office. Susan didn’t make much, but it was enough for us to get by. We were a little lonely, but it was better than staying in a town filled with memories of my dad.

Despite the distance, Justine and I had never lost touch. We’d write letters as little girls, which turned into emails when we got older. A few years ago, I’d successfully convinced my mother I needed a cell phone, and immediately, I’d started texting with Justine. Last summer we’d developed this plan. We would spend the summer together. All we had to do was convince our parents.

Justine’s parents were no problem. Aunt Melanie and Uncle Craig had always talked about me coming to visit – it was my mother who proved a challenge because things changed after Dad died. Mom was worried that if I spent time with Justine, I’d come away different somehow. After all, Justine’s family still had all of their money, and well, we didn’t.

In the end, I never knew if Mom agreed to let me go because she thought it was a good idea or because I wouldn’t shut up about it. But I was here now, and grateful for the chance to get away from my small town.

As we neared Justine’s car, my jaw dropped to the ground.

“This is yours?” I gasped, staring at sleek black vehicle which looked brand spanking new. I couldn’t tell the model, but I knew it had to be pricey. It just oozed money from the flashy chrome bumpers to the leather interior that gleamed.

Justine stared at the car and shrugged. “Dad gave it to me for graduation. Now get in, we don’t have any time to waste.”

As I slowly got into the vehicle, all I could think about was how unprepared I was for this summer.

Driving down the highway to her house, I looked over at Justine. Her short blonde hair was messy in that tousled, sexy way, and large sunglasses hid sky-blue eyes from my view. She was so different from the young girl I remembered, but then again, I was different from the young girl I used to be, too. Justine was definitely more upmarket from the sparkling diamonds on her wrists to the designer clothes hugging her body.
