She was Olympus's Queen. Its sacrifice. Its savior. Its destruction.

Long ago, Circe was Hermes' entire heart. The two women lived on the outskirts of Olympian society, content with a quiet life away from the spotlight. Then Circe caught the eye of Zeus…and was forced into a marriage that would take her freedom, her future, and in the end, her life. In the wake of the tragedy, gossip swirled about the woman Zeus married and (allegedly) murdered…but in time, everyone forgot about beautiful, tragic Circe.

Everyone but Hermes, who vowed on that day to bring Olympus to its knees.

Now, fifteen years later, a new Zeus rules the city, a new Hades protects his people, a new hope dawns…and Hermes has begun to think there may be things about Olympus worth saving. With Atalanta by her side―and slowly rebuilding her heart―Hermes may finally be ready to set aside her fury and seek the city's rebirth instead of its total annihilation. But there is a beautiful devil on Hermes' other shoulder: a devil who rose, blood-soaked, from where Zeus left her for dead years ago. A devil who has waited all this time to have her revenge.

And no matter their past, no matter the desperate love they once shared, no matter the complicated triad forming between the three women, Circe will not rest until all of Olympus lays shattered at her feet…and the gods help anyone who gets in her way.

A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Hermes and Atalanta and Circe

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

Hermes

Circe marches on Olympus.

It takes days because she doesn’t come alone. She brings the whole of the civilian population with her, an exiled queen returning to the city that tried to kill her. A homecoming for the ages. And there’s not a damn thing I can do about it. She played me with the softness of our history and a hope-laden kiss.

A kiss that betrayed.

The wind lashes my skin and yanks at my braids. Winter is nearly here, and it’s impossible to see that as anything but an ill omen. If I were up against anyone else in this world, I’d have no doubts. I’m the best, after all. I’ve worked hard for that title—both as Hermes and as me. No other Hermes in history managed to steal from every member of the Thirteen, the ruling party of Olympus. No other Hermes used glitter and charm to make the city’s powerful underestimate both the title and the person, all while I was searching their homes and offices for the information I needed. No other Hermes brought down the barrier that kept Olympus separate from the rest of the world.

And yet…Circe.

My phone buzzes against my hip, a welcome distraction from the shadows plaguing my thoughts. We have one opportunity to stop Circe’s wholesale slaughter of the Thirteen and the legacy families. One. And in the days since I delivered Zeus and Hera to Hades in the lower city—the last remaining part of this city that’s marginally safe—not a single one of the Thirteen have been willing to listen.

They’re in a sinking fucking ship, and they’re more concerned with their perception of power than filing to the offered rescue boat in an orderly fashion. I can’t save them all. I don’t even want to, if I’m being perfectly honest. The new crop is better than the ones who held the titles when I became Hermes, but that doesn’t mean anything. This is Olympus; it’s filled to the brim with monsters.

My phone buzzes again, and I sigh. “Right. Answer the phone, Hermes.” I dig it out of my pocket, a small smile tugging at the edges of my lips when I see Atalanta’s name on the screen. “Hey.”

She doesn’t answer right away. “Are you standing on a roof somewhere, brooding?”

That makes me laugh aloud. It feels good, a reminder that not everything is doom and gloom. “It’s rude to call me out so explicitly. You know I think best when I’m being dramatic.”

“Yeah, well, I hope you have some brilliant ideas up your sleeve. Ares hasn’t made it to the lower city barrier with her partners, but she’s already arguing with Hades about allowing her soldiers through the barrier. He’s refusing.”

I press the heel of my hand to my forehead. “Circe isn’t interested in soldiers, other than converting them. Ares’s people will be safe enough without her at the helm.”

“I’m aware.” Her tone is dry enough to soak up the moisture in the room. She’s been spending too much time with her boss, Athena. “Unfortunately, Ares is being stubborn.”

Ares wouldn’t have survived this long without a stubborn streak to rival mine. I admire her for it, have since the time when she was Helen Kasios, beautiful daughter of the scariest monster in the city. A prize to be handed out at his whim, though he didn’t live long enough to accomplish that task. “They’ll have to figure that one out on their own. Lead a horse to water and all that. What’s the status with the others?”

“Artemis holed up in her building and locked down all entrances. I don’t expect her to change her mind.” Atalanta’s voice gains an icy edge. We placed her with Artemis all those years ago when we put this plan into motion, and she served loyally—as far as Artemis was concerned, at least—until Minos’s party in the country where she was offered up on a platter.

I almost lost Atalanta there. The thought makes me shiver in a way that has nothing to do with the cold air whipping around me. She’s been my dearest friend for over a decade, the one who pulled me out of the dark pit of grief I’d fallen into. The one who taught me how to hope again. The person I care about most in this world… Or, at least that was true before I discovered that Circe was still alive.

Things have gotten complicated since then.

“Good riddance,” I snap.

“Hermes.”

“I have no interest in killing Artemis, but if she’s determined to offer Circe her throat, then so be it.” The statement is mostly true. If I ever end up alone with Artemis, I can’t guarantee I won’t slit her damned throat for thinking she could hurt Atalanta without consequences. “I’m not willing to risk you or others to save her from herself.”

Atalanta pauses long enough for my anger to fade. Finally, she clears her throat. “The rest aren’t much better. I think Apollo plans on coming to the lower city, but he won’t leave until he’s sure he’s blocked as much access to our systems as he can.”
Meg Sanders enjoyed her wild night with a prince and his bodyguard—but now she’s moving on. She has enough problems without borrowing the kind of trouble Theo brings just by being who he is. But no matter how determined she is to leave that night a fond memory, she hasn’t seen the last of Theo and Galen…

Galen Mikos's life boils down to one goal. Keep Theo alive. But as long as Theo draws breath, he’s a threat to the powers that have taken over Thalania—and anyone they associate with runs the risk of becoming a target, too. Galen will never forgive himself if they let their selfish desire for Meg puts her in danger. But it might already be too late…

Theo Fitzcharles might be an exiled prince, but he doesn’t intend to stay that way. He’s only concerned with one thing—clearing his mother’s name and reinstating himself as Crown Prince of Thalania. There’s no room in that plan for distraction, especially when it makes him forget himself the way Meg does. But after spending one perfect night with her and his best friend, Theo has no intention of leaving her alone.

Even if it damns all three of them in the process

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

“Meg, someone puked in the bathroom.”

Meg Sanders closed her eyes and counted to ten very, very slowly. It didn’t change Jonah’s words—or their implication. By the time she turned to face him, she had her expression under control. Mostly. “You’re telling me…”

“I’m clocking off.” He held up his timesheet. “My shift ended thirty minutes ago and I’m about to go into overtime.”

If she let that happen, cleaning up someone else’s puke would be the least of Meg’s worries. “Okay, go ahead.” Their boss had a notorious temper when it came to overtime, and they’d all learned to avoid going over the allotted hours whenever possible. Jonah was a decent dude, and she didn’t want to drop that hammer on him. “I’ll take care of it.” Last call had already been sounded and the lights were all up. If the last four people didn’t file out soon on their own, she’d call them cabs and kick them to the curb.

Thankfully, it didn’t come to that. Jonah clocked out, and she must have looked as miserable as she felt because he herded the patrons out and waited for her to lock the door before he headed for his car.

Yeah, Jonah was a good dude.

He’d even blushed a little when he’d asked her out a few weeks ago, and took it well when she turned him down. She might have cited her insane work schedule that would only get more insane once school restarted in the fall, but the truth was far more pathetic.

How could anyone compare after she’d been with a prince and his bodyguard?

What was supposed to be a single night straight out of her dirtiest fantasies turned into the standard she was in danger of comparing every future relationship to. Not that she could call being picked up at a club on her twenty-third birthday and going home with two guys for the sexiest night of her life a relationship. It wasn’t. The amazing sex was just that—sex.

Even if she was starting to suspect it had ruined her for life.

No use thinking about it now.

They left. They never called.

You’re the one who snuck out without saying goodbye. They probably took a hint.

Meg laughed softly at the absurdity of her spiraling thoughts. She found the mop bucket and hauled it to the sink and squirted some soap into the swirling water. Easier to focus on her hurt pride than the money stress she couldn’t quite escape. The deadline to pay her fall tuition was this week and she hadn’t quite come to terms with the fact after all the hours and tips and even a second job she was still short.

Seriously short.

Short to the tune of two thousand dollars.

Not that much money in the grand scheme of things, but it might as well have been on the moon for all Meg could access it. She’d gone so far as to fill out a couple credit card applications, but they sat unsent on her desk at home. They were just a temporary fix. Fall tuition would turn into spring tuition, and even if she could scrape together the money this time, she wouldn’t be able to do it next time. Better to just bow out gracefully now and leave her degree unfinished.

But she hadn’t filled out that form, either.

She was stuck in place, unable to move forward or go back. If she dropped out, she was no better than what her mother had always called her: a fuck-up destined to retread the footsteps of her family for as long as living memory. Poverty. A marriage or four. Crippling debt that she’d never be able to climb out from beneath. A job that slowly sucked every bit of joy out of her life.

She couldn’t do it.

She couldn’t go back to that small town and that dingy trailer and face the family she’d given the middle finger to when she turned eighteen and graduated with honors. Meg had worked too damn hard to put herself in a position to make something of her life.

Look at her now.

Cleaning up someone else’s puke.

She wheeled the bucket down the dim hallway to the pair of bathrooms situated near the back door. The bar could stand in for countless bars across the country. The lights a little too low, the floors a little too sticky, the alcohol a little too cheap. But it was what passed for her second home. She loved most of the people she worked with, and if her boss was kind of a dick, well, that went with the territory.

Meg took a slow, deep breath and pushed open the first door. The smell of vomit sent her reeling back a step, but she mastered her response. Just get it over with and you can go home. Home, to her tiny apartment filled with secondhand furniture. It wasn’t much to look at, but it was hers and she loved it. There was only this filthy bathroom between her and her lumpy bed and damned if she’d let the stench permeating the air beat her.
Today Happy Ever After Scandal. Wealth. Power. Seduction. Welcome to the world of the O’Malleys. Ex-cop Charlotte Finch used to think there was a clear line between right and wrong. Then her fellow officers betrayed her, and the world is no longer so black and white. Especially when it’s Aiden O’Malley, one of the most dangerous men in Boston, who offers her a chance for justice. The only catch: she’ll have to pretend to be his fiancvee for his plan to work. Aiden can’t afford to let anyone see the man behind the mask. To run the O’Malley empire, he has to be cool and controlled at all times. But the moment he meets Charlie, they’re playing with fire. Her slightest touch is enough to send him over the edge. At first their “engagement” was a way to eliminate his enemies. Now he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe– even if he has to destroy his own family to do it.

(previously published as Undercover Attraction)

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Something’s coming.

Charlie Moreaux, formerly Charlotte Finch, tucked a strand of long white-blond hair behind her ear, narrowing her eyes. This time of night, the party should have been in full swing, everyone a little too drunk, a little too loud. Instead, people kept to their tables and talked in low voices. It created a dull roar within the faded wood-paneled walls of the bar, but nothing close to what it would have been on any other weekend night. She picked her way around the full tables, ignoring the handful of regulars who tried to catch her eye.

Jacques nodded at her. The old man had taken a liking to her from the first time she’d wandered in here, scraping rock bottom and halfway down the road to drinking herself to death. He was the one who’d pulled her back into the land of the living, who’d inadvertently put her on the path to retribution.

Charlie leaned against the bar. “Weird mood tonight.”

“It’s a full moon.”

No one tracked full moons like ER nurses and bartenders.

Jacques poured two healthy shots of whiskey and set one on the faded wood of the bar in front of her. “You’re as edgy as they are.”

“Yeah, I know. No specific reason.” She downed the whiskey, but the warmth curling through her stomach did nothing to battle her nerves. Intuition or superstition, she couldn’t shake the feeling of fate hurtling down the tracks, pointed directly at her.

Her first clue that something had gone wrong was a hush falling in a wave through the room. Charlie didn’t spin around, despite the feeling of eyes on her. Her attention fell to Jacques, as still as a rabbit facing down a wolf. He spoke low, but the words reached her easily in the new quiet of the bar. “You know I love you, girl, but you’re gonna have to take this one outside.”

I was right. Trouble’s come, and it’s here for me.

She turned slowly, still fighting against the instinct to spin, and propped her elbows on the bar as if she hadn’t noticed the change in the room. Trouble stood in the doorway, his broad shoulders filling the frame. The neon lights of the bar signs didn’t quite reach his face, though they highlighted his square jaw. She didn’t have to see his eyes to know he was looking at her.

She could feel it. And the danger was just as intense as it had been a year ago when he’d first come to find her.

Aiden O’Malley.

“I’ll take care of it.” Charlie put enough authority into her voice that Jacques wouldn’t question her. This was her problem, and she wasn’t about to bring the old bartender into it. She shrugged a little, testing the weight of her holster beneath her leather jacket.

She pushed away from the bar, stalking toward Aiden. In her six-inch heels, she was almost his height, but even the fancy suit didn’t hide the fact that he was cut. It wasn’t just the size of his shoulders. It was in the way his thigh muscles pressed against his slacks when he shifted. Utterly cold and contained, he watched her watch him.

Standing across from him made her feel…vulnerable. She didn’t like that. She didn’t like that shit one bit. “Outside,” she snapped.

He took a step back and then another, allowing her to lead him outside and down the street.

Aiden kept his hands at his sides and away from any weapon he had on him. It was designed to make her feel at ease, but it only ramped up her tension. The man had come here for her. Pretending that he wasn’t dangerous just meant he wanted her to underestimate him.

Fat chance of that happening.

Charlie wrapped her arms around herself, sliding her fingers along the butt of her 9mm. The feeling of metal warmed by her body comforted her. She’d defended herself before against worse than Aiden and his bodyguard. She could do it again if she had to. “Why are you here?” Why now? Why wait an entire year to come back around?
Ruthless Redemption (previously published as The Bastard's Bargain) 9781538766866

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

CHAPTER ONE

Keira O’Malley stared at the empty bottle of vodka next to her bed. She had a second one stashed in her closet, but the effort to climb off her mattress and retrieve it was beyond her. Lethargy sapped what little strength she had, though she couldn’t blame that on the alcohol any more than she could blame it on the weed. No, it was all her. She glanced at the digital clock painting red patterns across the clear bottle. Almost four in the morning—there would be no sleep tonight. Again.

She didn’t sleep much these days—and not at all without some kind of liquid help—but this was worse than normal. Tonight, while she lay here with alcohol buzzing through her system and watching the smoke curl above her face with each exhale, she waited for news.

She hated that when shit hit the fan, her older siblings sent her to her room while they dealt with the crisis. She was twenty-one, and they treated her like a child.

Or a bomb about to go off.

She inhaled again, smoking her joint slowly, wishing the burning in her lungs could ease her racing thoughts. No one had come to update her since the whole house was put on lockdown. Right now, one of her brothers could be dead, bleeding out in the street, and Keira would be the last to know.

Like Devlin.

Pain slashed through her despite the barrier of numbness she’d carefully cultivated with weed and alcohol. One brother dead because of their family’s “business” dealings, another in immediate danger, and nothing she could do but lie here and feel sorry for herself.

A buzzing vibrated against her hip, and her heartbeat picked up even as her stomach dropped when she realized it wasn’t her normal cell. Not news, then. It was the burner phone Dmitri Romanov had given her, the one he used to contact her directly without leaving a trace for her family to find.

Her thumb hovered over the call reject button. She needed to be here for when news came in… but Dmitri often surprised her by knowing more than he should. Maybe he had news for her.

And maybe pigs will fly. You want to answer the call because you want to talk to him. It has nothing to do with noble motivations.

The phone buzzed again, and she answered before she could talk herself out of it. “Do you even know what time it is?”

“Are you still wearing my ring?” Dmitri’s voice rasped through the line, his Russian accent making her stomach do a slow somersault.

She looked down at the giant diamond winking in the low light. Two weeks ago, he’d cornered her in a bathroom and slipped it on her finger. It wasn’t the proposal she’d dreamed of when she was a little girl, but six-year-old Keira O’Malley never would have imagined a man like Dmitri. There was nothing innocent about him, nothing noble or even a little bit good. He was the villain of this story. The man who would take down her family—unless she became his bride.

And yet, Keira hadn’t taken the ring off, though she couldn’t begin to explain the impulse that had kept the jewelry in place. Liar. That ring is nothing more than you deserve, and not because it’s worth a small fortune. It’s a promise that you’ll do what it takes when the time comes… and the time is now.

There was only one reason Dmitri was calling her at four in the morning, while her oldest brother was headed to a dangerous meeting in New York and the rest of the family was otherwise occupied, facing down a threat coming from a different direction. Clever Russian. He’s making his play.

She swallowed hard. “Yes.”

A pause, as if she’d surprised him with her honesty. Keira sat up and took another hit of her joint. She needed all the bolstering she could get for what would come next.

When Dmitri spoke again, his tone was cool and distant. “Your brother intends to break his word to me and cancel our engagement.”

She froze. “What?” Surely she’d just heard him wrong. Aiden was too smart to risk the safety of their family and the people who depended on them for her. She was expendable. The youngest of seven—six, now—siblings, it only made sense to sell her to Dmitri. They’d fought too hard to prevent a war to start one now. Her family had dealt him three political blows in as many years. If the O’Malleys reneged on this, Dmitri would see every single one of them taken out. She had no doubt about it.

“You can stop it, Keira. Come with me now and I’ll forget that he was going to break his word.” If the devil existed, he had a Russian accent and used that coaxing tone when offering his bargains. Come into my parlor, said the spider to the fly. I’ll eat you whole, but you’ll like it.
Once his wife, lover, and bitter foe, Hera, the 'ice queen', now stands with her husband, Zeus, against a breaching enemy. Their marriage, a modern retelling of Hera and Zeus, is a storm of hatred and desire. Forced to unite, their enmity ignites into an irresistible force. Hera, who once vowed to destroy Zeus, finds herself questioning her feelings amidst the ruins of Olympus. Could their love, if they survive, transcend their past?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

Zeus

It’s all coming apart. Tonight should have been a victory that cemented my reign as Zeus and eliminated the threat against Olympus once and for all. Instead, four out of five Aeaean ships sailed off into the night, possibly about to turn around and attack us the moment we aren’t looking—and Circe has once again slipped through our grasp.

My father must be rolling over in his grave. The bastard might have been a monster of the most dangerous variety, but he reigned as Zeus for nearly fifty years of peace. More or less. I’ve held the title for less than a year, and during that time, the assassination clause has become public knowledge, resulting in unprecedented violence against the Thirteen, we’re facing an external enemy for the first time in Olympian history, the barrier that protected our city from the outside world has come down, and I’ve staged a coup with the other legacy titles, betraying everything Zeus is supposed to be.

Truly, a spectacular failure all around.

I sit in my car in my building’s parking garage for long enough that I start getting odd looks from the guards positioned near the elevator. It doesn’t matter how long I take or how deep and slow my breathing; there’s no banishing my father’s derisive voice from my head. He might be dead, but he haunts me still, even though this is all his damn fault.

There isn’t a neat solution to the Circe problem, and she wouldn’t even be a problem if my bastard of a father hadn’t kidnapped her off the street, marched her down the aisle, and then attempted to murder her on their honeymoon. Up until very recently, we all assumed she was dead—another Hera fallen at the hands of a violent Zeus.

The worst part is that I don’t blame her for her determination to get vengeance. She was horribly mistreated by both my father and the rest of the Thirteen at the time. Not a single person tried to step in to help her.

But my father is dead and gone—at least to everyone who didn’t spend their entire lives being trained to become the next him. Of the Thirteen who held the positions when she was Hera, only three remain—Poseidon, Athena, and Hades. Even if there were more left, no one stands against Zeus. At least the Zeus my father was. She’s striving for vengeance against people who hold no blame in her pain. More than that, she’s endangering the civilians of the city.

What the fuck am I doing? I have all this power, and all I’ve managed to do with it is stumble around in the dark.

I sigh. I’m not going to solve this problem by sitting in my car and berating myself in my late father’s voice. There will be no peace up in the penthouse either, not with my Hera swishing about, plotting my death. She wasn’t successful in her most recent plans, but she’s not a woman to give up easily. Sleeping peacefully at her side should be out of the question.

And yet it’s the only time I get any rest these days.

I shove out of the car and stalk past the guards, forcing myself to nod at them in greeting, and take the elevator up to the penthouse. It’s late enough that dawn is a short time away, so I don’t expect Hera to be awake. I sure as fuck don’t expect her to have company.

But as I walk through the door, there’s a deep voice intertwined with her more musical tones.

One of the first lessons my father taught me was that emotional reactions are handing a weapon to your enemy and exposing your throat. He was the enemy back then, but the lesson remains. No matter how Hera strives to incite my fury, I don’t react. I will not be my father and terrorize those in my household. The more my wife acts out, the thicker the ice I use to keep my temper under control.

I find her sitting on the couch with Ixion, one of the new guards who follow her everywhere. She acquired him and the other two from Ares at some point in the last two months. I approve of her keeping herself safe. I sure as fuck do not approve of the way Ixion allows his thigh to press to hers.

They look up as I stop in the doorway. Hera gives me nothing, but that’s to be expected. People accuse me of being an ice king, but she’s all blades and no softness. She has one reaction to any given situation—strike first. She leans back and crosses one long leg over the other, which is right around the time I realize she’s wearing a robe and nothing else. Her dark hair is mussed a bit, too; she must have run her fingers through it recently.
