Trigger warning: Inc*st between triplets, violence.

This is a m/m/m short story.

Life’s been hard for the love triplets.
Abusive home life. Cruel kids at school. Hateful town.
The only love they’ve known is each other.

When they turn eighteen, they leave to make a life of their own, free of pain and sadness.
It’s better than they could have ever imagined.

Until new feelings emerge, threatening to destroy the only thing they care about…each other.
They’re brothers. Best friends. Together from the beginning.
Can they be lovers, too, or will this steal the only bit of happiness they’ve ever known?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

Dexter

The betrayal in his amber eyes lashes at me harder than any whap of Dad’s belt used to. At least, back then, I could just mentally block out the hatred from my father. Hide in a place he couldn’t find me while he beat the shit out of me.

I can’t hide from this.

Never him.

Not Andrew.

“Andy,” I start, but I don’t have any other words.

“He was my only friend, Dex. The only one.”

I swallow hard, lowering my gaze to the ground, unable to look at my brother. I fucked up. I know I did.

“I’m sorry,” I murmur and then wince because it feels cheap. “I am. It meant nothing.”

“Which makes it worse.” He throws his hands in the air, features screwed up in an angry way that transforms his normally smiling face. “You fucked my friend who meant ‘nothing’”—he makes exaggerated air quotes with his fingers—“and now he won’t come over to study anymore. You’re some kind of asshole.”

He stomps out of our tiny kitchen, his feet sending thundering ripples through our ramshackle trailer. All I can do is stare after him.

Andrew Love.

The tallest but also the baby…by two whole minutes.

His dark hair has grown out lately now that we don’t have Dad giving us shit about everything. It hangs to about his cheekbones and frames his eyes so that they’re the focal point on his face. When he’s smiling, I like how his amber eyes seem to smile too.

Tonight, they’re not smiling.

Nathan creeps from the living room into the kitchen, his head bowed and shoulders hunched. Guilt roils in my gut. Not only did I hurt Andy, but I upset Nate too by fighting with Andy.

We’re triplets.

When one of us is angry at the other, that puts the third brother in a spot where he has to choose sides. It’s torturous and a position we don’t often find ourselves in. I can tell Nate is torn between comforting me and calming Andy.

Turning away from Nate—the middle brother in our trio—I place both palms on the cracked Formica countertop. I squeeze my eyes shut and wonder what the hell I was thinking.

I wasn’t thinking.

I’d been tired from working my ass off all week, a little buzzed from the beers some guys from work bought me, and just really needed to get laid. Seth came over to hang out with Andy, but when my brothers were passed out, Seth kissed me. We’d ended up in the bathroom, him bent over the sink while I fucked him. It was fast and meaningless. That was three weeks ago. With morning brought regret and the dread that he’d eventually find out. Which he did. Today, apparently.

Lanky arms wrap around me from behind. Nate is always the comfort. When I was little and would be nursing whatever fucked-up ailments I had going on from Dad, he’d always cling to me, somehow making it better with his hug and familiar scent and quiet disposition.

“I’m sorry,” I say to him too because I am. I’m the only one of us who thinks with his dick. A heavy sigh escapes me. “I’m fucking this all up.”

“No,” he murmurs, hot breath tickling my back through my thin T-shirt. “You’re making it so we can have all this.”

Our own place.

My brothers in college.

Safe.

And I stupidly messed up Andy’s first and only friend because I just wanted to feel good for five minutes after a stressful week.

“Want me to cook something?” I ask, my voice gruff with emotion. “I bought stuff to make spaghetti.”

Nate and Andy’s favorite.

Nate releases me to peek into the sack. He reaches inside and pulls out a tub of cookies and cream ice cream. His smile—a rarity but warmer than the sun—is wide enough to chase away my self-loathing.

“I haven’t had this in forever,” Nate says, tawny eyes twinkling as he fawns over the store-brand container in his beloved flavor.

Not since our birthday when we turned thirteen. It’s been five years since we lost Mom and it still hurts.

“Special occasion,” I tell him. “I got Andy’s favorite too.”

He pulls out another container, this time vanilla bean. “Where’s yours?”

“Don’t need it.”

His smile fades and his brows furl. “Dex…”

“It’s just ice cream,” I say with a shrug.

“We’ll share ours.” He hardens his gaze, daring me to argue. I don’t. “What’s the special occasion?”

I was going to tell them the good news, but then Andy tore me a new asshole the moment I stepped in the front door.

“Got a raise.”

“No shit?” He grins again, making me feel less of an asshole than ten minutes ago.

“For real. Bert says I’m kicking everyone’s ass at the shop as far as moving vehicles out. He’s been making more money and said it’s only fair to pass it down my way.”

We’ve been in this dinky-ass town for four months now. But it’s within walking distance to the community college and the auto repair shop that was hiring. This town is more like home than anything we’ve ever had. Finally, it feels like we’re starting to move up a little.
From USA Today Bestselling author K Webster comes a steamy, forbidden age-gap romance!

My life is unraveling.
A bitter divorce. A custody battle hanging by a thread.
And an accusation that I’m too unstable to raise my kids.

The answer to my problems comes from my sleep specialist, Dr. Jin Lau.
She’s willing to help me in a way no one else will.
A legal marriage will solve both our problems. On paper, it’s perfect.
In reality, it’s chaos.

Because my new wife’s daughter, Mei, is back home from a summer away with her father.
Eighteen. Curious. Sweet. She treats me like a man worthy of love.

Living under the same roof turns the house into a trap of temptation.
Every look lingers too long. Every touch feels like a sin.

I’m her mother’s husband.
And she’s the one girl I want but can’t have.
A forbidden line I can’t stop crossing.
How long can we sneak around before the whole world finds out?

A taboo age-gap MF romance featuring a single dad, his wife’s daughter, and a sin they can’t stop committing. No cliffhanger and an HEA guaranteed.

What to
Stepdad / Stepdaughter (non-biological, marriage of convenience)
Forbidden Age-Gap Romance
Single Dad
Forced Proximity
Protective Older Man/ Younger Woman
Sneaking Around
Broody Hero/Sweet Heroine

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter 1

Owen

My ex-wife, Leah, is insane. Sociopathic. Cruel.

I’ve never met anyone in my entire life as hellbent on destroying another person as she is with me. It’s all she thinks about every hour of every day. What did she think about while we were married?

Destroying other people.

She liked the façade being with me offered. Nice home, perfect family, revered within the community. Under her polished outward appearance was a cold, calculating monster.

I hate I feel that way about the mother of my three children, but there’s no denying it. I’ve had the better part of two decades learning all these awful things about her.

“She’s just really concerned about Mr. Monahan’s sleep disorder and claims her children are in danger, especially their daughter.”

My gut roils and the coffee I’d consumed threatens to come back up. I dart my eyes over to my attorney, Dane Alexander, and shoot him a panicked look. He gives me a small nod and interjects.

“Without substantiated evidence, this is nothing more than a ridiculous claim,” Dane says smoothly. “She wants the house, not the kids, and it couldn’t be more obvious.”

The house in question was in our prenup. Since Leah came from wealth, and I created mine, we were both intelligent enough to protect ourselves from future problems. Her family’s oil money remains hers and the house is still mine.

It’s the kids who are stuck in the middle of the mess, which I hate.

Leah wants the house, likely to spite me, and is using the kids to get her way. Yes, I have a fucking sleep disorder. Do I sleepwalk and do weird shit sometimes? Sure. Would I ever hurt my children? Never.

I pinch at the bridge of my nose, feeling the beginnings of a headache forming. I’m not in the mood to be at court today with the viper who still has my last name. Too much shit to do today without piling this monstrosity on top.

I’m cracking.

And, as soon as a sliver is visible, she will seep her way in, destroying me from the inside out.

Judge Rowe flips through some documents before leveling Leah’s attorney with a firm stare. “I’m not sure what you have here that will convince me to grant your client full custody, Mr. Linton. Your client’s claims are just that. If you have proof, bring it to me, and then we’ll talk. In the meantime, the custody arrangement will stand as is for the two remaining shared underaged children. Divorce is bitter and ugly. People do and say things they shouldn’t. But that’s not enough reason to remove children from one of their parents.”

Dane clasps my shoulder and squeezes. “Told you not to worry. Judge Rowe is reasonable and fair. This isn’t his first rodeo.”

After the judge dismisses us, I hightail it out of the courtroom, a chill racing down my spine when I pass Leah. Her familiar floral scent envelopes me making me want to gag. I’d hated her perfume from the very beginning. Somehow, over time, I learned to dull my senses to it. Now, having not been around her since the last hearing, I’m overwhelmed by the stench of it.

“I’ll get my proof,” she whispers low enough only I can hear.

Rather than stopping to indulge the wicked witch in an argument, I stride as far and as fast away from her as I can get. It’s not until I’m outside, the blistering winter wind blasting me in the face, do I feel like I can breathe again. My next appointment is right after this one which means I have to haul ass to the clinic.

I climb into my black GMC Yukon Denali, a practical change from my Audi after the divorce, and turn the heat on full blast. I’m on edge, so I turn it to one of my favorite podcasts to chill me the fuck out before my doctor’s appointment. This particular podcast is called Teenage Angst Dad of Three. He’s a divorced guy, like me, with three teenaged kids, also like me, documenting his life, wins, and struggles. The man’s also a jokester which I appreciate but always has some sort of anecdote for me to tuck away for a later date. As corny as it is, I feel like Tim Hopper and I are best friends. It doesn’t matter if he’s from bumfuck Minnesota, hours and hours away from me, or the fact he has no clue who I am.

My stress dials down several notches as I cross town to the medical clinic where my sleep doctor is located. It’s a follow-up for a new medication that seems to be working well. I could have cancelled the appointment, but I’m glad I didn’t. Reassurance that I’m not the fucked-up person Leah claims I am would be great about now.

Once I park and make my way inside, I pull out my phone to check if any of my kids texted me. I sign in with the front desk and read what, Rhett, my oldest sent me.

She took them and ran, assuming she could hide from us forever.

But you can’t hide from the Madmen when we’ve spent our entire lives perfecting the hunt.

The Games of Madmen is a dark, MMF standalone spinoff from The V Games by Ker Dukey and K Webster. It’s violent, filthy, and thrilling. Let the games continue…

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Cast of Characters Refresher

Vasiliev Family – (V Games Host – drugs/human trafficking/arms dealing)

Yuri - Father

Yuri, the patriarch of his family, is the original creator and host of the notorious V Games, a high-stakes competition that puts contestants and captives in a brutal game of survival for the viewing pleasure of the most powerful and influential families.

Yuri orchestrated the murder of Vera, his wife and mother of his children, viewing her decision to leave him and run away as a violation of his authority and honor.

Deeply ingrained in his misogynistic beliefs, Yuri perceives women as inferior and unworthy of respect. This toxic perspective intensified when his oldest son, Vlad, chose Alyona to represent The V Games, a move that Yuri vehemently opposed. Unable to tolerate the thought of Alyona, whom he deemed unfit, gaining recognition and influence, he resorted to extreme measures and put out a hit on her during The Games, with the intention of reasserting his control and dominance. This attempt failed.

Vera - Mother

Vera left Yuri shortly after the twins, Viktor and Vika, were born due to her fear of Yuri’s reaction if he ever learned that she was having an affair. She was subsequently murdered a couple of years later, and her secret child, whom she shared with Andru Vetrov, was taken to a nunnery.

Vlad - Oldest Son

Vlad is a shareholder in The V Games. He is married to Irina Volkov, who recently gave birth to their first son, Vsevolod.

Vlad insisted on having Alyona Voskoboynikov enter The V Games as a form of retribution for her father’s significant debt to the powerful Vasiliev family. This decision was viewed as a harsh punishment for Alyona, who was only nineteen at the time and a non-fighter.

Vika - Twin Sister of Viktor and Younger Sister to Vlad

Vika attempted to have her twin murdered. Her motivation stemmed from betrayal after discovering that Viktor had been secretly sleeping with Niko Vetrov, Ven Vetrov’s younger brother, and her then boyfriend. In a calculated move to eliminate the people who betrayed her, she planned a failed attempt on Viktor’s life but orchestrated Niko’s murder during The V Games.

Vika later found herself in an arranged marriage to Ruslan Vetrov, Ven’s youngest brother, a union forced upon her by circumstance and family expectations. However, she sought solace in an affair with Vas Volkov.

When Ven uncovered the truth about Vika’s murder of Niko, he demanded retribution. The powerful Vasiliev family supported his quest for vengeance, leading to Vika being divorced by Ruslan. Then, she was taken captive and locked away by Ven, who was determined to settle the score. Vas later had Vika rescued and smuggled out of the country.

Viktor- Twin Brother to Vika

Viktor, twin brother of Vika, once believed to be dead. He was saved in The V Games by their father. However, the outside world still assumes he perished in those deadly competitions. Yuri vehemently disapproved of Viktor's sexuality and harbored a deep-seated belief that it was better for his own reputation if everyone thought Viktor was dead rather than accept him for who he is. After his rescue, Viktor was relocated to the United States and given a new identity where he now goes by a couple of names: “legal name” Cassian Harris and the name Tanner to friends. Embracing this fresh start, Tanner opened a nightclub called The Vault.

Darya - Youngest Half-Sister of Vlad, Rodion, and Zahkar

Darya is the secret love child of Vera Vasiliev and Andru Vetrov. She was raised in hiding, her existence concealed from the world. Growing up, she endured a life of neglect and abuse. She was later used as a manipulation tool and weapon against Yuri, who also abused her and was oblivious to her true identity. Despite her troubled upbringing, she found an unlikely friendship with Alyona and found solace and happiness in her relationship with Vas Volkov.

Vetrov Family – (human trafficking/legitimate real estate and developers, alcohol industry)

Yegor – Father (59) Deceased

Anna – Mother (45) Deceased

Veniamin “Ven” – Eldest of Yegor and joint head of the family alongside his uncle Andru.

Ven is a shareholder in The V Games and is married to Diana, the past winner of The V Games, and founder of Rainbow Vodka.

Niko – Second son – Deceased

Murdered. His death was orchestrated by Vika.

Ruslan – Third Brother

Ex husband of Vika.

Andru – Brother of Yegor and now joint head of the Vetrov family

Andru’s wife, who was also Rodion’s mother, tragically took her own life shortly after they adopted Zahkar. Amid his grief, Andru became involved in a romantic affair with Vera Vasiliev, the wife of his friend and business acquaintance, Yuri. This affair was brought to light nineteen years later when they discovered he fathered a child, Darya, with Vera.

Rodion - Son of Andru

Rodion is a prominent figure known as one of the Madmen of Moscow, alongside his adopted brother, Zahkar. They’re often referred to collectively as The Twins. He is co-owner of many business ventures including joint ownership of the brand Rainbow Vodka. He is also co-owner of the renowned Klub Chernyy, a hub for illegal fighting events. As a skilled fighter, Rodion has honed his abilities through rigorous martial arts training and competition and has developed a reputation as someone to be feared both in and outside the ring. The Twins have an unwavering bond and an unconventional relationship where they only ever share lovers. Rodion and Zahkar played a crucial role in preparing Alyona for The V Games and inevitably caught feelings toward her. He and Zahkar orchestrated a rescue of Alyona from The Games.
My stepbrother is back in town for Christmas.
Broken. Humiliated. And living in my spare bedroom.

Once upon a time, Eric and I were inseparable.
We grew up under the same roof, dreaming of opening a bakery together.
But while I stayed, he chased the big city life… and crashed hard.

Now he’s in my life again, smirking like he owns the place, and making me feel things no nice girl should feel for her stepbrother.

The more we bake together, the harder it is to resist.
The snowstorm outside doesn’t help.
Neither do the mistletoe kisses, the late-night movies, or the way he looks at me like I’m his sweet temptation.

But if our parents find out?
It’ll be a Christmas scandal we can never take back.

He’s my stepbrother.
Totally off-limits.
And I’m about to unwrap the one gift I can’t return.

A taboo stepbrother Christmas romance featuring festive small-town vibes, forbidden kisses under the mistletoe, and all the heat of sneaking around where family is the biggest risk. No cliffhanger and an HEA guaranteed.
Stepbrother romanceForbidden / tabooForced proximityChristmas vibesBaking togetherSnowstorm lockdown

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Clara

This is the best time of the year. My absolute favorite. If you don’t like the Christmas season with all the sweet treats, colorful lights, and festive decor, you’re a total Grinch. I’m the opposite of the Grinch. A jingle-bell earring wearing, fa-la-la-la-la carol-singing, spiced eggnog guzzling Christmas princess. A sexy version with cute leggings and great hair. A Christmas vixen.

“Thank you for holding,” the monotone voice says over the phone line, jerking me from my holiday happiness. “What can I help you with?”

I explain, in detail, to the third person at this company that the animatronic snowman doesn’t light up like the packaging states. This thing cost three hundred bucks. Maybe they can send a repairman out or something.

“We can refund you,” the person says blandly. “I’ll go ahead and start processing—”

“Refund?” I scoff, shaking my head, the bells jingling in protest along with me. “No, I want you to fix it. It’s going to look so cute with my other decorations, especially at night. Can’t you just send someone out?”

There is silence for so long, I think the person hung up on me. Finally, they sigh heavily, and say, “I’ll escalate this to a manager, ma’am.”

Music begins playing and has my simmering blood cooling because it’s one of my favorite Mariah Carey Christmas hits. I sing along as I wait and text my best friend, Casey.

Me: The Christmas Extravaganza on Main Street officially started. We could go tomorrow if you feel better. I’m dying to see all the stores decked out. Last year Smoke & Sugar won. Who do you think it’ll be this year?

Clearly not hyped up on freshly baked sugar cookies like me, Casey replies back with a green-faced sick emoji. She’s pregnant with her second kiddo, but this one has made her deathly ill. The poor thing can hardly work.

Me: Want me to bring you anything, babe?

Casey: Brayden went to get more ginger ale. Sorry I suck.

Me: Brayden sucks for knocking you up again.

She sends back some laughing emojis but nothing else. I’m bummed she’s been sick because Casey is my ride or die. Without her, I get lonely.

I try to think about the ladies at the salon. There are a few I could invite, but no one I’m super close to. They all like to gossip about each other which means anything I talk about will be fodder for their next conversation without me. I’d rather sit and deal with a snowman fiasco.

As if on cue, the line crackles and a woman answers.

“You got a problem with your product?” she asks, voice gruff likely from decades of smoking.

“It doesn’t light up. The other person said you could send someone out to fix it.”

The woman laughs until she starts coughing. Irritation prickles through me. Finally, she calms down. “Oh, wait. You’re serious?”

“I just want it fixed,” I grumble. “Is that so hard to understand?”

“Look, lady,” she says with a sigh, “it’s not worth it to send someone out. We can refund you.”

“Can you at least replace it?”

“No can do. We are plum out of stock.”

My doorbell rings and I’m grateful for the interruption. “Yeah, okay, whatever. A refund is fine.”

After hanging up, I hurry to the front door of my townhouse, wondering if I have more packages coming with new décor. Hopefully I didn’t order a lot from that place because it’s apparently all crap.

I jerk open the door, shuddering at the burst of icy air that rushes in, and am surprised to find it’s not a delivery guy. It’s not my landlord, Reid, or his son, Brayden. It’s not Linda or the kids from next door. And it’s not Riko or Casey’s ex, Derek.

But it’s someone I know.

Someone who’s been avoiding me for years.

“Eric?”

“Hey, sis.”

After all this time, that’s what he says to me? “Hey, sis.” Like he hasn’t basically been ignoring me since he took off to New York?
Some love stories are messy. Some are twisted. And some? Shouldn’t happen at all.

Welcome to Taboo Streets.

Derek

What was I thinking moving into the townhouse right across from my ex?

That’s right. I wasn’t thinking. I’d been so desperate to live anywhere than under my parents’ roof, I took the only affordable place for rent in this godforsaken city. And it’s not that affordable if I’m being honest with myself.

How did I let my life unravel so much?

It’s hard to believe not even two years ago, I was fairly happy with my ex, Casey, and our simple life. Was it exciting? No. Did I love her? Yes. Was I happy? No. When she’d gotten pregnant, I’d allowed myself to hope for a little growth in the happiness department by way of a baby. Casey was ecstatic which trickled down to me.

But then she lost it.

That started the final corrosion of our already deteriorating relationship. Ultimately, it led to the end of it. I moved out and in with my parents, had to replace my stupid truck, and am finally living on my own again, even if it’s really too expensive for me and the view is of Casey’s backyard.

I scrub a palm over my face and scan the sparse space. Mom and Dad had pity on me. They updated their own living room and bedroom furniture, passing down their old stuff to their nearly forty-year-old son who can’t seem to get his shit together.

It could be worse, I suppose.

Not much, though. I’m pretty close to rock bottom.

Unable to keep myself from the kitchen window, I prowl over to it, telling myself I’m going to load the dishwasher rather than spy on my neighbors. Well, one in particular.

And, like every afternoon around this time, Casey is out on her walk with her best friend, Clara. The part that’s new is the stroller Casey is pushing.

She has a baby now and it’s not mine.

I’m still a little mind blown she married our landlord’s son. He’s so fucking young, but even I can admit he treats her a helluva lot better than I ever did. Doesn’t mean I’m not harboring a little jealousy, though. He has the life I wanted, but somehow never could nurture and grow to life.

It’s pretty stalkerish for me to watch her walk by, and even creepier to try and look at her baby. But, I do. I gawk at them like they’re exotic animals in the wild. Casey looks great. She’s been walking religiously with Clara and her ass looks good in her leggings. It was always my favorite part about her. My cock twitches at the reminder of seeing her naked. God, I miss the sex.

Get it together, man.

Lusting after another man’s wife is not fucking cool at all.

I force myself away from the window when I hear my phone buzz on the coffee table in the living room. It’s probably the dating app. I created it just to take a peek at what was out there, but opened a can of worms in doing so. Every woman who contacts me through that app compliments my body and boldly asks to take it for a ride in some form or another. And, as much as I really need to get laid, there’s an urgency and coldness about their proposed hookups that turns me off. I don’t answer any of them.
My mom has always needed saving.
And Reid Foss—the gruff, broody man who owns our townhouse complex—was the one who stepped up.
He let us move into his house.
Paid the bills.
Kept the lights on when Mom couldn’t.

But I’m not my mother.
I don’t want to be rescued.
I want him.

Reid is my mom’s boyfriend.
Our landlord.
Twice my age and completely forbidden.

But every morning run, every heated glance, every accidental touch…
It makes the line between wrong and right harder to see.
Until we cross it and everything changes.

I’m not just the girl he let move in.
I’m the woman he can’t stop thinking about.
And the secret we’re keeping?
It’s about to come out

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Reid

I can’t avoid my girlfriend forever.

Or can I?

Finding projects to work on to keep Moonlit Gables running is a never-ending quest. There’s always something to do. It’s not odd for me to spend long hours in the management office doing tedious tasks like paying bills or handling rent payments. Plus, maintenance around here is a full-time job. Each time I get a coat of paint on something, it’s chipping off something else.

There’s no need to feel guilty about my long hours away from the townhome we now share. I’m not actually avoiding her. Amara’s busy anyway pulling tons of shifts cleaning for the elite on the good side of town. I’m busy with property management. It’s just how relationships go at times when you’re both busting your ass to make a living.

Like with Brayden’s mom, Joni? What about Maria or Clarissa or Sherry?

With all of them, even my son’s mother, there was a distinct moment in each of those relationships where I’d gone from aching to take care of them with every fiber of my being to…full on resentment. I’d then pour myself into work to avoid dealing with the resentment.

There’s something wrong with me.

A good man would suck it up. That’s kind of our point in life, right? To get with a woman you love and make certain unspoken vows between you to ensure all her needs and wants are met. The desire to take care of her isn’t something that should just vanish into thin air one day.

And yet, it always does.

I should give my buddy, Easton, a call. Being a preacher, he’ll no doubt have sound advice. Maybe he can just tell me to get my head out of my ass and be a real man for once—in a “man of God” kind of way, of course. Hell, I’ll even drag myself up to the old church on Sunday and meet with him in person.

What if he can’t fix me?

Overworking myself to avoid a painful conversation isn’t something I can do forever.

Having that conversation would mean telling her to pack up and leave. Honestly, it shouldn’t be that hard. It’s not like it would come as any surprise. We haven’t had sex in far too long and I don’t even care anymore. Things just haven’t been the same since I let them move into Gordon’s old unit and Amara broke her promise to pay rent.

Why did I let them move into that unit?

Because you’re a sucker, man.

And, because Amara has a daughter.

That’s where things get tricky. If it were just Amara, I think I could stand firm in my decision. But, knowing they have nowhere to go, and I’d be putting not one but two people out on the street? Yeah, I can’t do it.

Fuck.

A gust of cool air rushes through the management building and swirls into my office, indicating a visitor. Since the mailroom is up front, I get a steady stream of visitors each day. Well, aside from the beer bros. Kevin and Tyler, being the little drunkard princes they are, have to be reminded to pick up theirs usually after about a week.

“Hey, Dad.”

All the angst and turmoil bleed out of me the second Brayden saunters into my office. Pride fills my chest at the sight of him. He’s grown so much in the past six months. Not only did he graduate high school, but now he’s got his own kid on the way. Unlike myself, Brayden was able to man-up and treats Casey like a queen.

Meanwhile, his dad is hiding in his office like a pussy, so he doesn’t have to see his own woman.

“Bray,” I say, grinning at my son. “What’s new? Haven’t seen you in a few days.”

Brayden plops down in the chair across from me and arches a dark eyebrow at me. “About that… Where’ve you been?”

He may’ve moved out, but he didn’t go far since he lives with our neighbor.

I guess it’s crystal clear why I’m avoiding home.

“Been busy.” I shift my gaze to a faded tattoo on my thumb. Brayden. His name written in script was the first tattoo I got right after his birth. Been getting them ever since and have a badass sleeve of them on my right arm I’m proud of. “You know, since someone left me high and dry.”

Brayden snorts out a laugh. “I’m a phone call away if you need help. You know I’ll drop everything.”

It’s true. Even though he’s working on renovating his own property to lease, he still does whatever I need for him to.

“To me,” he continues, voice turning gentle, “it feels as if you’re hiding from certain people.”

I try not to wince at the truth coming from his mouth but fail miserably.

“That obvious, huh?” I grumble.

“Yup. You’d think she would see it too.”

If she’s noticed, she hasn’t said anything. When I do bump into her, she’s affectionate and chipper. I’m sure a lot of that is her putting on a front for Emma, but still, there’s nothing to indicate Amara is hating where our relationship has gone as much as I do.
She had a plan. He had a detour. Neither of them expected to fall.

Sheridan Reid knows how to win. Born into a life of privilege and pressure, she's used to getting her way—even if it means chasing after the wrong guy for far too long. When she boards a private plane headed to Costa Rica for her father’s wedding, she’s convinced it’ll be the perfect chance to finally seal the deal with the man she’s been crushing on for years.

But the cocky pilot flying her there? He's a problem.

Camilo Zaragoza is infuriating, arrogant, and entirely too attractive for someone who just crash-landed her plans—literally. A hurricane forces an emergency landing in a small coastal town in Mexico, where the only option is to wait it out. With no escape and no cell service, Sheridan is stuck with a man who challenges her at every turn.

And yet... the town, the people, and even the pilot start to grow on her. Slowly, she begins to question everything she thought she wanted.

Maybe life doesn’t need a five-year plan.
Maybe happiness is found off-course.

***This book was previously published under Cocksure Ace, but has since undergone a title change and some minor changes to the original story. If you read that original version, you don't need to read this one.***

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter 1

Sheridan

Don’t pull it off.

Don’t do it.

My entire body trembles as I stare at the single brown hair on my denim Tom Ford pencil skirt. One hair. My hair. Seemingly insignificant on the fifteen-hundred-dollar garment. It shouldn’t bother me, but oh how it does. It’s a metaphor for my life, really. Anything that doesn’t belong gets plucked away and removed. My life is to remain perfect because for so long it was not.

It’s just a hair, though.

Not some clingy boyfriend or an assistant who needs firing.

I’m not wooing a client into signing a seven-figure contract.

A hair is inconsequential to my life, so it shouldn’t matter.

Irritation flitters through me. Sweat forms between my shoulder blades. My hand twitches, making me squeeze my Starbucks Grande nonfat double cappuccino.

Breathe.

You’re a Reid, girl.

Act like it.

I straighten my spine and dart my gaze from the offending stray in my life. The lounge area for the private jet company is quaint and smells faintly of oranges. It’s probably the nicest piece of real estate at LAX, but that’s not saying much. The problem is I’m not supposed to be here. I was supposed to fly out days ago with them. With him.

While I was crossing the Ts and dotting the last Is on the Franklin Technologies acquisition, Daddy and his partner, David Tomlinson, flew out to Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica.

My father is getting married.

I try desperately to be happy for him, but it’s difficult. If anyone deserves their happily ever after, it’s Daddy. He went through hell when Momma had cancer. We both did. Mona may not be who I would’ve chosen for him, but I wasn’t given a say so.

Dragging my thoughts from the wedding, I back up to a more pleasant one.

David.

Sure, he’s closer to Daddy’s fifty-six years, but he wears his age well. Brilliant, successful, charming. David ticks all the boxes. All I have to do is tick the last box—the one that finalizes us as an item. My hope is by the end of the week, I’ll be leaving Costa Rica with a rock of my own.

The future Mrs. Tomlinson.

I sigh happily. And then I pluck the hair off my skirt, flicking it to the floor before I can stop myself.

Life is almost perfect.

“Geezy squeezy, please tell me they have vodka,” a high-pitched voice whines.

I snap my stare up to a man strutting my way. He can’t be any taller than my five-foot-seven frame, but his personality’s certainly bigger. And his wardrobe is loud.

Please, God, do not let me share a flight with this man.

A headache is already forming.

“Are you the flight attendant? I’m thirsty and tired. Kyle? Kyle? Kyyyyyyyle?” The man—decked in tight pink leather pants that unfortunately show everything—stomps his feet like a child. Not small feet either. Giant feet in strappy, glittery heels. “Hello, honey.” He snaps his manicured fingers. “I’m talking to you.”

“Do I look like a flight attendant?” I clip out, pinning him with a glare that makes most men take a step or three back.

The garish man does take a step back, but it’s so he can openly scrutinize my outfit. Then, he waves a hand in the air, huffing. “No, doll, you look like a socialite with a stick up her ass. Kyle? Where are you?”

His words poke at my nerves. Sure, Daddy is wealthy and successful, but I’m no freeloader. I’m an asset to RT Corp. I’m the Reid who can get the hard deals done. I matter.

Ignoring him, I sip my cappuccino. The sprinkle of cinnamon I added warms me. When you have everything, sometimes it’s the little things that make you happy. Like a dash of spice or removing the damn hair from your skirt.

“Doris,” an old man says. “This way, Doris.”

Once again, my stare drifts to another man joining us in the lounge. The man has to be older than dirt. Hair white as snow, but he seems otherwise fit. He’s wearing a velvet burgundy tracksuit with “DD” embroidered on his chest.

“I’m right behind you, Dale. Keep your underwear on.”

Mr. Pink Pants curls his lip up. “Gross,” he mouths to me before shouting past the old couple. “Kyle! You walk like a turtle!”

Kyle—poor kid—was caught behind the couple and is loaded down with two giant rolling suitcases, about seven Louis Vuitton bags, and is seconds from crying based on his trembling bottom lip and red face.

“Dale,” Doris says, boldly staring at Pink Pants. “Would you look at this fruit?”

Pink Pants gapes at her, hurt flashing in his big green eyes. Before he can open his mouth to respond, Dale apologizes loudly.

“Doris here has lost her mind. Right, dear?”

“I just don’t know why Henry insists on dressing up in my clothes. They’re expensive,” Doris explains, which doesn’t explain anything.

Yep, definitely getting a headache.

“Damian,” Pink Pants says. “My name is Damian. Not”—he waves a hand in the air as though he’s disgusted—“Henry. I’m the Damian Birch.”

Two years down the drain.

I wait for the tears to come, but they’re all dried up. I’ve cried so much for Derek, the baby we lost, and the deterioration of our once-great relationship.

Now I’m just numb.

Most of Derek’s things fit easily into the bed of his truck. He’s leaving me with all of the furniture we acquired while together and essentially taking only his clothes in the drawers and closet. Since he’s so neat, and doesn’t collect things like I do, it’ll be as if he were never here.

My gut hollows out and bile creeps up my throat.

At one time, I might’ve obsessed over possibly being pregnant again, but I’ve just come off my period. Plus, the last time we had sex was right before the miscarriage three months ago. The nausea is just from being sick at the situation we’ve found ourselves in.

I pushed too hard on everything—wanting to move in together, wanting to get married, wanting to have a baby. The only thing we accomplished was the first, and now that’s gone.

“Take care of yourself,” Derek says, unable to meet my eyes. “I’ll be around if you need me.”

The man isn’t a bad one. He’s good to his core. It’s just, the more I spiraled from the pain of our loss, the further he drifted from me. Our last several weeks have been nothing but shouting matches that always ended with me crying, and ultimately, him breaking it off with me.

“I’m sorry,” I manage to mutter, giving him a half wave. “I wish…”

He flashes me a grim smile. “I know. Me too. Bye, Casey.”

The somber finality in his words makes my throat clog up with emotion. I manage a nod and then watch him climb into his pickup truck. Derek, the man I thought I’d spend my life with, drives away, leaving me empty and heartbroken.

With a heavy sigh, I head back inside, noting how it already feels lonely without him. Tapping on the backdoor, though, jolts me out of my terrible mood. My friend, and one of the other neighbors here at Moonlit Gables, grins at me through the glass. I can’t help but smile back at her.

Clara has been my rock the past few months. We’re so different it’s not even funny, but I’m grateful for our friendship.

“Let’s walk,” she says when I open the door for her. “You told me to hold you accountable. This is me doing that.”

The last thing I want to do is walk the trail that circles the ponds and gardens at our townhome complex. I’d rather crawl into bed, sniff Derek’s pillow, and pretend this breakup never happened.

“Raincheck?”

Clara snorts. “Nope. Put your shoes on.”

Seeing Clara is a reminder that I do want to walk, even if I don’t feel like it today. She’s slim, has curves in the right places, and actually has muscles. Men do a double take when she walks by.

Meanwhile, I put on weight with the pregnancy and continued to gain even after I lost the baby. I’ve jumped several sizes in clothing from my usual size eight to eighteen. Even though Derek says our breakup has nothing to do with my weight gain, my self-esteem disagrees.

Nah, Casey, he broke up with you because you’re a nutcase, not because you’ve had a fixation with gummy worms and Oreo’s for the past few months.

I grumble, ignoring Clara’s giggles, as I shove my feet into my sneakers. “Today is not really the best day.”

“Because Derek moved out?” She shakes her head. “It’s because of that you do need to get out and walk. It’ll make you feel better.”

We exit my townhome onto my back patio. Off to the left, I can see Travis’s Dr. Pepper can wall hiding the view there. Maggie, who lives between us, doesn’t understand boundaries. I’m sure now that Savvy has gone to live with him and Travis, she’s really been on “nosy neighbor alert.”

“Get back here, you bad cat!”

An orange cat leaps off Maggie’s back patio and darts under my wooden deck to hide from the woman. Clara snags my arm and hurries me toward the walking trail, so we don’t get swept up into a conversation with Maggie. The lady is kind of mean and demanding, so I’m not mad to make our escape.

Once we make it to the trail, and are far enough from earshot of Maggie, we take a minute to stretch. I try not to be envious of Clara’s flat stomach that peeks out at me when she raises her arms over her head. Instead, I tug at the T-shirt I stole from Derek, hoping to hide the growing bloat in my stomach. I have got to stop stress eating sour gummy worms.

“A man asked for a happy ending today,” Clara tells me once we start walking. “If I had a dollar for every time that’s happened to me, I’d be rich.”
From USA Today Bestselling author K Webster comes a new dark romance…

I’m trapped in a lie.
They’ve twisted my mind so that I barely recognize who I am anymore. In this new prison, I’m the devoted wife of a brilliant, deceptive man who holds the key to my carefully constructed reality.
But something is missing and my soul aches.
As the cracks in my mind widen, fragments of a life I don’t remember claw their way to the surface. A name lingers on the edges of my thoughts and sends a shiver down my spine.
Caius.
This new life is a nightmare but not real. The truth holds steady in my heart, showing me the way. I know Caius is searching for me. We’ll soon find our way back to each other.
The people who did this to me think they’ve won and broken my mind forever.
They were wrong.
Once I find him, we’ll expose every facet of their evil empire.
Together, we will burn it all to the ground.

Cup of Lies is book three in The Crowne Conspiracy trilogy. This book is a dark, psychological romance that contains triggering content. This book completes the series.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PREVIOUSLY IN MIND MAZE…

Still trapped under Caius Crowne’s control, Romy Langston struggled to heal after Gareth’s horrific betrayal. As she fought to regain her strength, she was forced to spend Christmas in New York with her estranged father, Gideon Langston, and her stepmother, Eva. There, memories long buried began to surface, especially when she recognized her childhood nanny, Vivienne, as the true “monster” from her past.

When Romy confronted her father, he dismissed her accusations and pushed for stronger medication to silence her. But the truth only grew louder. Using Kaitlyn’s Barbie dolls, Romy uncovered the horrific secrets Vivienne and Gareth tried to keep hidden.

As Romy clung to the fragile bond she was forming with Caius, their relationship deepened into something far more dangerous—real love. But every step closer pulled her deeper into the Crownes’ control.

During Eva’s birthday celebration and President Huxley’s gala, Romy began seeing the cracks in their perfect world. Subliminal messaging. Mind control. Corruption at the highest level. As new threats closed in, including the charming but sinister Seth Portman and Doc Junior, Caius made a bold move. He publicly proposed to Romy, shattering the president’s manipulative spell over them.

Romy helped Megan Benson break free from CUP’s grip, but in doing so, exposed herself. Her brother, Bastian, assaulted her, and Caius came to the rescue. Unfortunately, in his quest to find answers about his sister, he left Romy in a vulnerable position, and Theo swept in.

Caius uncovered horrifying secrets about Romy’s past—including a doll that tied everything back to her captivity. But before he could save her, Theo betrayed them both. Drugged and kidnapped, Romy was delivered straight into the twisted clutches of the masterminds behind the mind control.

Caius, desperate to find her, was ensnared by his father’s lies. They framed Romy as a traitor, drugged him, and forced him into choosing between saving Romy or his long-lost sister, Calista. Trusting his heart, Caius chose Calista—believing he could return for Romy.

Both Romy and Caius became victims of their enemy’s most devastating weapon yet: the Stem Lock procedure.

Six months later, Romy wakes to a perfect life—a husband, a daughter, a home, and a growing baby. But it’s all a lie. Her memories have been wiped clean. Her mind belongs to someone else now.

Someone who is not Caius.

Romy

My mind is a liar.

It’s been playing tricks on me since I was a little girl. I’ve learned not to trust it. To be suspicious of every thought and skeptical of every memory.

I’m on constant alert, always at odds with my overactive brain.

Is it lying to you now?

Yes.

Somehow, deep in the hollow cavity of my chest, I feel it. There’s an empty ache inside of me, begging me to remember.

Except, everything is perfect.

People with perfect lives don’t agonize over strange feelings. They give in to the goodness around them and don’t take a second for granted.

I’m married to a hardworking man, have an adorable and sassy daughter, and each day grow bigger with a new little one on the way. My home is immaculate, and my heart is happy.

Liar.

The pain in my chest intensifies to the point I wonder if I’m suffering from heartburn.

Stop lying to yourself, Romy. Think.

The only time I can really do my thinking is when Seth is at work. At one time, I hated the long hours he put in, but more and more lately, I’m grateful for them.

Something doesn’t add up with him.

I absently rub at the newest bruise on my wrist. Seth says I’m clumsy and always bumping into things. How come I can’t remember when I do? Why does this bruise feel and look like a thumbprint that is the exact size of his?

Your mind is tricking you, Romy. He’s a good husband. You’re making something out of nothing.

Am I, though?

As I fold towels, I get caught up staring at the giant picture above our fireplace. It’s a wedding photo of me and Seth. The funny thing is, I can’t remember it. I’m not sure when it even took place. I refuse to broach the topic again, though, because it puts Seth in a dark mood. Sometimes I feel like I’m disappointing him—like I’m not turning out the way he thought I should be. But the picture is perfect—too perfect—as though someone painted on our fake, smiling faces. It doesn’t feel authentic to me.

I peek in on Kaitlyn, happy to see she’s quietly playing with her dolls. Since it’s raining, she can’t go outside to play. As much as I love to entertain her, sometimes I need a break.

Tiptoeing back to my room, I do my best to dig through the dark, hidey holes of my brain. Surely I’ll remember something about our wedding. Was Dad there? Bastian?

A flash of anger ripples down my spine, making my skin burn hot.

Strange.

Why does it feel like I should be mad at them?
From USA Today Bestselling author, K Webster, comes a short, forbidden age-gap romance novella!

Tragedy has left me with nowhere to go.

Until my dad’s best friends—a stern cop and a cocky electrician—take me in and give me a home.

But Cole and Travis are used to being bachelors. Having a young woman to now look after is difficult to say the least.

Lucky for them, I don’t want to be taken care of.

I want to push their limits. I want to break their rules. I want them.

They’re twice my age. Off-limits. Completely forbidden.

The longer we live under one roof, the harder it is to pretend there’s not chemistry brewing between us.

I’m not their responsibility anymore. I’m their temptation.

And one reckless week will change everything.

Room for Three is a short, forbidden age-gap romance featuring two possessive alpha men, one defiant young woman, and enough heat to burn the house down. No cheating, no cliffhanger, HFN guaranteed. This is a two-hour read and can be devoured in one sitting. This story takes place in the Taboo Streets world and can be read as a complete standalone.

A quiet little townhouse complex where people mind their business.

Where secrets stay behind closed doors.

Where the things you shouldn’t want are just a little too close for comfort.

Here, temptation lingers in the air. Lines blur. Morals slip. And once you cross that line?

There’s no going back.

Some love stories are messy. Some are twisted. And some? Shouldn’t happen at all.

Welcome to Taboo Streets.

Savvy

I’ve escaped those people I was forced to live with.

Finally, I’m free.

Anxiety crawls through me, making my skin itch and stomach roil. If I were truly free, I’d be moving into a place of my own right now.

“Everything okay?” Enzo asks from the driver’s side, casting a worried look my way.

I force a smile, nodding. “Yep. Excited to see my dad’s friends.”

“I’m glad you’re staying with them until you can get on your feet. It sucks they weren’t able to let you come live with them sooner. We really tried, Savvy.”

Gnawing on my lip, I attempt not to cry. After my parents’ death in a car accident last year, Cole and Travis immediately offered to take me in, knowing Dad would’ve wanted that. Growing up, they were like my unofficial uncles. Unfortunately, the judge didn’t rule in their favor because they weren’t my relatives. Apparently, since the home they share is only two bedrooms, it wasn’t appropriate to bring a girl into. She ordered me to live with a foster family instead.

“You still have my number,” Enzo says, as though reading my thoughts. “You’re no longer a ward of the state, so I won’t be your social worker anymore, but I will be someone you can trust. A friend.”

I know he means well. If I would have told him about the way my foster family treated me, he’d have gotten me out of the Monahan’s massive prison mansion. But I didn’t want to rock the boat, and I knew turning eighteen was rapidly coming. I just had to hold out a little while longer.

“Thank you,” I say and mean it. “I’m happy to finally be moving there. Dad adored Cole and Travis. He would’ve wanted it this way.”

As we make our way down Wicked Hollow Street, I can’t help but feel unnerved. Will the guys still want me there? And for how long am I welcome? I’m still in high school, despite turning eighteen, so I can’t exactly work full time right now.

I need them.

I hate that I do.

God, I miss you Mom and Dad. I took you both for granted.

Moonlit Gables, the townhouse complex Travis and Cole live at, comes into view. It’s a lot different than the foster home I just left. The cars parked there aren’t BMWs or Porches. Travis has a motorcycle that barely runs and a rusty pickup truck he uses for work. Cole drives a Ford Explorer police vehicle. Other cars in the lot are nicer than the truck, but not by much.

It reminds me of home.

My real home.

“Want me to help you bring your stuff inside?” Enzo offers as he pulls off Wicked Hollow and into a parking spot next to the police car. “I’ll do whatever you need.”

I shake my head as I grab my backpack from the floorboard. “I can do this on my own. Thank you for everything.”

Because Enzo is a good guy, he smiles and honors my wishes. I climb out of his vehicle and pull my backpack on. Once I’ve grabbed the trash bag full of my clothes from the backseat, I wave goodbye to him.

Now what?

I wait for him to drive away before turning and heading for unit four on the corner. As I pass unit three, I notice an elderly woman with wiry gray hair watching me from her window. She doesn’t wave or smile. I hurry past her to the door of my new home.

Do I knock?

Do I walk in?

I hate feeling out of place in this world. It’s been that way since the death of my parents. All I want is to belong again. I’m not sure if this situation with Dad’s friends will be lasting or another step before I get to my final place I’ll call home. The uncertainty rushing through me makes me dizzy.

Breathe, girl.

Instead of breathing, I hum a jingle from an insurance company commercial. It’s a stupid habit, but it calms me. With my heart in my throat, I knock on the door. Male voices can be heard inside, and then the door swings open.

“Savannah.”

My cheeks burn hot with embarrassment. Cole Hayes, a local cop, fully dressed in his blue uniform, scowls at me as if I’ve done something wrong.

“Hey.”

“This is your home now,” he chides, eyebrows furling together. “No need to knock.”

Someone chuckles from behind him. “Way to scare her on the first day, dumbass. Come in, Savvy.”
